In this paper, the possibility of arc tracking, caused by combustion at the circuit breaker, was discussed. The arc tracking, occurred at the source terminals of all the circuit breakers, when we burned electric leakage circuit breakers with 220V applied. We had a same results of the experiment to simulate fire scene, in the circumstance of fire, all of the circuit breakers had arc tracking caused by combustion. Therefore we confirmed that the arc tracking at the source terminal of circuit breaker could be occurred by just combustion in the fire scene, and it was impossible to decide the cause of fire for reason of discriminating arc tracking at the terminals of circuit breaker.

In cooperative communication systems, the source terminal transmits signal to the destination terminal with the aid of partner terminals. Therefore, the source terminal obtains extra spatial diversity gain. As a result, its performance is enhanced in term of higher achievable transmission rate, the larger coverage range, and the lower bit-error-rate (BER). Space-time codes (STCs) have been applied to cooperative communication systems in distributed fashion, in which the signal is spatially time exploited to obtain gains analogous to those provided by STCs. In this work, we consider the application of orthogonal Space-time Block Codes (OSTBCs) to the cooperative communication systems to further achieve higher diversity gain. The advances of the proposed approach are verified via computer simulations.

A two-way relaying (TWR) system is analyzed, where two source terminals with unequal numbers of antennas exchange data via an amplify-and-forward relay terminal with a single antenna. In the system considered herein, the link quality between the sources and relay can generally be asymmetric due to the nonidentical antenna configuration, power allocation, and relay location. In such a general setup, accurate bounds on the average sum rate (ASR) are derived when beamforming or orthogonal space time block coding is employed at the sources. We show that the proposed bounds are almost indistinguishable from the exact ASR under various system configurations. It is also observed that the ASR performance of the TWR system with unequal numbers of source antennas is more sensitive to the relay location than to the power allocation.

This paper proposes a quasi Z-source AC-AC converter with the low DC voltage distribution capability operating as a power electronic transformer. The proposed system has configuration that the input terminals of two quasi Z-source AC-AC converters are connected in parallel, also their output terminal are connected in series. Simple control method of duty ratio was proposed for the in phase buck-boost AC voltage mode and the DC output voltage control. DSP based experiment and PSIM simulation were performed. As a result, the PSIM simulation results were same with the measured results. By controlling the duty ratio under the condition of 100 [${\Omega}$] load, quasi Z-source AC-AC converter could buck and boost the AC output voltage in phase with the AC input voltage, and the same time, the constant DC voltage could be output without affecting the AC output characteristics. And, the DC output voltage 48[V] was constantly controlled in dynamic state in case while the load is suddenly changed ($50[\Omega]{\rightarrow}100[\Omega]$). From the above result, we could know that the quasi Z-source AC-AC converter can act as a power electronic transformer with a low DC voltage distribution capability.
For playing a multimedia presentation in a Internet, the case that the presentation QoS(Quality of Services) at a destination nay be different from the QoS of multimedia data at the source occurs frequently. In this case, the process of trancoding the multimedia data at the source Into the multimedia data satisfying the QoS at the destination should be requited. In addition, even the presentation description having the homogeneous QoS at both sides may have different transcoding paths due to the limitation of display terminals or network bandwidth. That is, for a multimedia description, it is required to regenerate a proper transcoding path whenever the displaying terminals or the network environment gets decided. And the delay time required to go through the transcoding path may affect the playability of the give presentation. Therefore it should be checked whether the presentation requiring a transcoding process is able to be played in a real time. In this paper, the algorithm for generating all the possible transcoding paths for a given multimedia description under a fixed set of transcoders and the network environment is proposed. The algorithm adopts the concept of QoS transition diagram to Prevent from a trancoding Path being cycled by the repetition of a cyclic Path which generates the same QoS of multimedia data as its input QoS. By eliminating all the cyclic Paths, the algorithm can guarantee the termination of the process. And for the playability check, a method of computing the transcoding time and the delay lime between logical data units are proposed. Finally all the proposed methods were implemented in the stream engine, called TransCore and the presentation-authoring tool, called VIP, we had developed. And the test results with sample scenarios were presented at the last.
There can exist unidirectional links due to asymmetric property of mobile terminals or current wireless environments on practical mobile ad hoc networks. However, at present, the existing mobile ad hoc routing protocols are implemented to support only bidirectional links. Thus, in this paper, we extend the existing dynamic source routing protocol in order to implement a new routing protocol, which is fit to mobile ad hoc networks containing unidirectional links. For performance evaluation, we use combinations of mobility scenario files and connection pattern files from Carnegimelon Univ. We consider received data rate and average route discovery time as evaluation items, which are compared and evaluated for three suggested route discovery methods.

Energy harvesting is an increasingly attractive source of power for cellular networks, and can be a promising solution for green networks. In this paper, we consider a cellular network with power beacons powering multiple mobile terminals with microwave power transfer in energy beamforming. In this network, the power beacons are powered by grid and renewable energy jointly. We adopt a dual-level control architecture, in which controllers collect information for a core controller, and the core controller has a real-time global view of the network. By implementing the water filling optimized power allocation strategy, the core controller optimizes the energy allocation among mobile terminals within the same cluster. In the proposed green energy cooperation paradigm, power beacons dynamically share their renewable energy by locally injecting/drawing renewable energy into/from other power beacons via the core controller. Then, we propose a new water filling optimized green energy cooperation management strategy, which jointly exploits water filling optimized power allocation strategy and green energy cooperation in cellular networks. Finally, we validate our works by simulations and show that the proposed water filling optimized green energy cooperation management strategy can achieve about 10% gains of MT's average rate and about 20% reduction of on-grid energy consumption.
Most adjustable-speed drives (ASDs) designed to operate 220[V] induction motors incorporate voltage-source inverters (VSIs), which create motor voltages at high switching frequencies. The motor leads used to connect an ASD to a motor can behave like transmission lines for voltage pulses, which can be reflected at the motor terminals. The resulting oscillatory transient, known as the long-lead effect, can stress and consequently degrade the stator insulation system of a motor. This paper describes the results of tests to 1) determine the correlation between peak motor voltage and the length of motor leads and 2) determine the correlation between peak motor voltage and the switching frequency of the ASD

Multi rate circuit switching ISDN which assumes a star topology consisting of LANs(local area networks) interconnected through a backbone MAN (metropolitan area network) is considered. The stations are classified into two categories data and voice stations they are characterized by different arrival rate and session-length (holding time) statistics. We first model the data and voice terminals as finite-source stations and derive analytically exact expressions for the end-to-end blocking probabilities. For more exact evaluation, these probabilities are calculated in terms of three components:circuit blocking probability, destination busy probability and concurrent busy probability. For large size systems, we develop an develop an iterative algorithm that provides a computationally efficient and fast method for the calculation of the end-to-end blocking probabilities.

This paper describes a $0.13-{\mu}m$ CMOS RF switch for $3{\sim}5$ GHz UWB band(mode 1). It can improve isolation characteristics between ports by using deep n-well RF devices while their source and body terminals are separated. From the measurement results, the proposed T/R switch is comparative to the on-wafer probing measurement results of the series-shunt T/R switches. When the proposed T/R switch operates as Tx mode, measured insertion loss from Tx to output port is less than 1.5 dB and isolation between Tx and Rx is more than 27 dB for $3{\sim}5$ GHz. Return loss for the Tx port is more than -10 dB and input P1dB is +10 dBm.
