  • This paper aims for developing the intelligent robot emulating human synesthetic skills which associate a color image with sound, so that we are able to build an application system based on the principle of mutual conversion between color image and sound. As the first step, in this study, we have tried to realize a basic system using the color image to sound conversion. This study describes a new conversion method to convert color image into sound, based on the likelihood in the physical frequency information between light and sound. In addition, we present the method of converting color image into sound using color model conversion as well as histograms in the converted color model. In the basis of the method proposed in this study, we built a basic system using Microsoft Visual C++(ver. 6.0). The simulation results revealed that the hue, saturation and intensity elements of a input color image were converted into F0, harmonic and octave elements of a sound, respectively. The converted sound elements were synthesized to generate a sound source with WAV file format using Csound toolkit.

  • False sharing is a result of co-location of unrelated data in the same unit of memory coherency, and is one source of unnecessary overhead being of no help to keep the memory coherency in multiprocessor systems. Moreover. the damage caused by false sharing becomes large in proportion to the granularity of memory coherency. To reduce false sharing in a page-based DSM system, it is necessary to allocate unrelated data objects that have different access patterns into the separate shared pages. In this paper we propose call-site tracing-based shared memory allocator. shortly CSTallocator. CSTallocator expects that the data objects requested from the different call-sites may have different access patterns in the future. So CSTailocator places each data object requested from the different call-sites into the separate shared pages, and consequently data objects that have the same call-site are likely to get together into the same shared pages. We use execution-driven simulation of real parallel applications to evaluate the effectiveness of our CSTallocator. Our observations show that by using CSTallocator a considerable amount of false sharing misses can be additionally reduced in comparison with the existing techniques.

  • The Enterprise Service Bus based on Java Business Integration is an web service standard and one of the methods for implementing distribution channels of Service Oriented Architecture. Consisting of open source group, extensive venders and users, the ESB based JBI has the problems of ineffectiveness as well as advantages of extensibility of service plug-in. That is, in case users need to use Service plug-in, manual connection of packaging process and sequential distribution method is required. This study, therefore, proposes as a way of trouble-shooting the user-oriented component deployment tool which can manage entire process for deploying The ESB middleware platform to Service unit. At the same time, this study elicited the requirements based on issues of JBI-based ESB and has developed the modeling property, packaging, distribution and evaluation thru Schema analysis of JBI-compatible component. Using the deployment tool this study proposed, users will be able to perform and manage the whole deploying process without additional manual work for connecting component. Not only it is expected that interface based on Graphic User Interface provide usability and convenience but they can also minimize the errors rate through component and route validity verification function provided in deployment tool.

  • T cells induce immune responses and thereby eliminate infected micro-organisms when peptides from the microbial proteins are bound to HLAs in the host cell surfaces, It is known that the more stable the binding of peptide to HLA is, the stronger the T cell response gets to remove more effectively the source of infection. Accordingly, if peptides (HLA binder) which can be bound stably to a certain HLA are found, those peptieds are utilized to the development of peptide vaccine to prevent infectious diseases or even to cancer. However, HLA is highly polymorphic so that HLA has a large number of alleles with some frequencies even in one population. Therefore, it is very inefficient to find the peptides stably bound to a number of HLAs by testing random possible peptides for all the various alleles frequent in the population. In order to solve this problem, computational methods have recently been developed to predict peptides which are stably bound to a certain HLA. These methods could markedly decrease the number of candidate peptides to be examined by biological experiments. Accordingly, this paper not only introduces a method of machine learning to predict peptides binding to an HLA, but also suggests a new prediction model so called 'knowledge-based genetic algorithm' that has never been tried for HLA binding peptide prediction. Although based on genetic algorithm (GA). it showed more enhanced performance than GA by incorporating expert knowledge in the process of the algorithm. Furthermore, it could extract rules predicting the binding peptide of the HLA alleles common in Koreans.

  • The purpose of this study is to prove the existence of the meridians by analyzing the effect of bloodletting cupping on Back-Shu Points and venesection on sabonghyeul, which are treatments for gastrointestinal and circulatory diseases with Ryodoraku. We selected the charts of 30 patients who received the treatment such as bloodletting cupping on Back-Shu Points and venesection on sabonghyeul for gastrointestinal and circulatory diseases. First, the Ryodoraku test was conducted in a stable state. After taking a rest on the bed, he performed a venesection on sabonghyeul. And bloodletting cupping on Back-Shu Points was performed with prone position. After all the procedures were completed, Ryodoraku test was performed again. And the result was compared with previous test status. By bloodletting cupping on Back-Shu Points and venesection on sabonghyeul, the deviation between the current value of the right F5 (gallbladder)· H4 (small intestine)· H6 (large intestine) (p<.05, p<.05, p<.001), left H5 (triple energizer) (p<.05) and the average current of 24 source points was significantly decreased. The difference between the left and right currents at the site of F3 (kidney) showed a significant increase (p<.005). It can be proved the existence of meridians that Bloodletting cupping on Back-Shu Points and venesection on sabonghyeul showed significant changes in the F5 (gallbladder), H4 (small intestine), H6 (large intestine), F3 (kidney), H5 (triple energizer) in digestive and circulatory symptoms by Ryodoraku test.

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the anti-oxidant and anti-wrinkle effect of the black carrot(BC) extracted by supercritical dioxide(SC-CO2). DPPH/ABTS radical scavenging and total polyphenol contents were measured to investigate the anti-oxidant activity of the BC supercritical extract. Collagen production and MMP-1 expression were assessed in normal human dermal fibroblasts(NHDF) for anti-wrinkle activity, The black carrot extract showed the highest total phenolic content(9.037±1.123 mg GAE/g extract) and the best antioxidant properties as shown by DPPH and ABTS assay. The supercritical fluid extracts of black carrot exhibited low toxicity to NHDF cells. In addition, the supercritical fluid extracts showed MMP-1 inhibition and type I pro-collagen synthesis inducing activities in a dose-dependent manner, respectively. Therefore, these results suggest that the black carrot is a potential source of high anti-oxidative, solvent-free and anti-aging material with promising applications in cosmetic, food, and beauty-food industries.

  • Interests in clean fuels have been soaring because of environmental problems such as air pollution and global warming. Unlike fossil fuels, hydrogen obtains public attention as a eco-friendly energy source because it releases only water when burned. Various policy efforts have been made to establish a hydrogen based transportation network. The station that supplies hydrogen to hydrogen-powered trucks is essential for building the hydrogen based logistics system. Thus, determining the optimal location of refueling stations is an important topic in the network. Although previous studies have mostly applied optimization based methodologies, this paper adopts machine learning to review spatial attributes of candidate locations in selecting the optimal position of the refueling stations. Machine learning shows outstanding performance in various fields. However, it has not yet applied to an optimal location selection problem of hydrogen refueling stations. Therefore, several machine learning models are applied and compared in performance by setting variables relevant to the location of highway rest areas and random points on a highway. The results show that Random Forest model is superior in terms of F1-score. We believe that this work can be a starting point to utilize machine learning based methods as the preliminary review for the optimal sites of the stations before the optimization applies.

  • Disinfection by-products(DBPs), such as volatile trihalomethanes and the nonvolatile organochlorine acids, created by chlorination have been extensively studied. However MX which contributes 20-50% of the mutagenic activity in drinking water began to people's attention since 1990. Its chemical name is 3-chloro-4-dichloromethyl-5-hydroxy-2(5H)-furanone. According to WHO guidelines its concentration should be controlled, but its value has not been set up. Due to analytical difficulties in measuring this compound at such a low concentrations and lack of information on toxicity to human. Because concentration (ng/L) of MX in drinking water is low traditional testing methods are ineffective. Therefore this study compared LLE and SPE and have chosen SPE to improve preconcentration. MX has been identified in chlorinated drinking water samples in several countries but not in korea Therefore this study analyzed concentration of MX in different water sources and in spring water. This study examined the causes of changing MX content. Chlorine dosage, seasons, water temperature and distance from the source was all discoverd to be relavant. MX was analyzed in various treatment to find optimum disinfection methods. The outcome was that the concentration of MX was minimized when using biological activated carbon-O3 and granular activated carbon.

  • This study was performed to describe analysis method of 209 PCB congeners in ambient air samples. The samples were collected by high volume air sampler in Chonju city. Extracted samples were cleaned by silicagel cleanup modified with sulfuric acid and activated carbon cleanup processing. The cleaned samples were analyzed by high resolution gas chromatography and high resolution mass spectrometry (HRGC/HRMS) with DB-5 column (60 m, 0.25 mm i.d., 0.25 m film thickness) to analyze the 209 kinds of PCB congeners. PCBs levels of air samples were detected to the range between 0.003 and $0.163pg-TEQ/m^3$. The PCBs congener of 162 kinds were detected in samples analysed using DB-5 column and 37 kinds peaks were overlapped with congeners more than one. It is difficult to isolate PCB 118/106 and PCB 105/127 in coplanar PCB, so it is likely to overestimate the concentration.. The distribution of coplanar-PCB congeners in origin source samples (Kanechlor and exhaust gas from incinerator) was compared with that in air samples, and PCB 81, PCB 77, PCB 126, and PCB 169 were higher in incinerator samples.
