Development of a High Power Ultrasonic Transducer for Steel Pickling Process

  • In order to apply for pickling line in cold rolling process, a high power magnetostrictive ultrasonic transducer was developed. The transducer is expected to overcome the shortcomings of conventional high power ultrasonic transducers. The transducer consists of Fe-Co-V alloy sheets for the magnetostrictive material, an ultrasonic horn made of Hastelloy to withstand acid solution, and electric driving circuit. In the development, the transducer was designed with the theoretical and numerical methods such as finite element method, and was characterized with experimental water tanks.   • 금속으로 이루어진 물질의 경우에는 고유하며 명백한 공진 주파수를 가지고 있다. 이러한 성질을 이용하여, 공장에서 만들어진 제품의 품질 테스트를 실행할 수 있다. 해당 제품에 충격을 가하고 이로부터 발생되는 소리나 진동의 주파수를 고성능의 장비를 이용하여 측정하게 된다. 범용 컴퓨터나 DSP 기반의 단독 시스템들이 이를 위해서 사용되며 이러한 장비들은 들고 다니기에 크기가 너무 크고 구축비용이 많이 든다. 본 논문에서는 TI의 MSP430 계열의 MCU를 이용하여 개발된 시스템에 대하여 소개하고자 한다. 초저전력의 MSP430 MCU들은 큰 용량의 배터리가 필요 없으므로 매우 작은 크기의 주파수 분석기를 제작하는 것이 가능하게 한다. 제안된 시스템은 검사원이 쉽게 장비를 가지고 다닐 수 있어야 하고 정확도를 다소 희생하더라도 작은 개발비용이 요구되는 환경에 사용될 수 있을 것이다. 제안된 시스템은 론치패드를 이용하여 개발되었으며, 인위적이거나 자연스런 소리의 주파수를 매우 높은 정확도로 판별 할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 세단 타입에 비해 해치백 타입의 차량은 실링구조 확보에 어려움이 있기 때문에 후석에서 느껴지는 차폐성능이 열세한 것으로 알려져 있다. 차량의 차폐감 확보를 위해 강건한 실링 시스템과 충분한 흡음/차음 성능이 요구되지만 준중형 이하 세그먼트에서는 원가, 중량의 제약으로 인해 충분한 흡차음 사양 적용에 제한을 받고있어 효율적인 흡차음 사양의 적용이 요구되고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 정량적인 측정과 비교, 분석이 가능한 파워기반 소음감소(Power Based Noise Reduction, PBNR) 기반의 차음 윈도우 평가를 통해 준중형 해치백 차량의 후석 소음원의 전달 경로를 분석하고 후석 차폐성능 확보를 위한 흡차음 대안을 제시하였다.

빔형성방법을 이용한 회전하는 음원의 위치 판별에 관한 연구 (Localization of Rotating Sound Sources Using Beamforming Method)

  • The positions of rotating sound sources have been localized by experiments with the Doppler effects removed. In order to de-Dopplerize the sound signals emitted from moving sources, two kinds of signal reconstruction methods were applied. One is the forward propagation method and the other is the backward propagation method. Forward propagation method analyze the source emission time based on the instantaneous distance between sensors and the assumed source position, then the signals are reconstructed with respect to the emission time. On the other hand, the backward method uses time delay to do-Dopplerize the acquired data for the received time of reference. In both techniques. the reconstructed signal data were processed using beamforming algorithm to produce power distributions at the frequencies of interest. Experiments have been carried out for varying frequencies, rotating speeds and the object distances. It is shown that the forward propagation method gives better performance in locating source position than the backward propagation method.

빔형성기 출력의 파고율을 이용한 충격음의 방향 추정 (Impulsive sound localization using crest factor of the time-domain beamformer output)

  • This paper presents a beamforming technique for locating impulsive sound source. The conventional frequency-domain beamformer is advantageous for localizing noise sources for a certain frequency band of concern, but the existence of many frequency components in the wide-band spectrum of impulsive noise makes the beamforming image less clear. In contrast to a frequency-domain beamformer, it has been reported that a time-domain beamformer can be better suited for transient signals. Although both frequency- and time-domain beamformers produce the same result for the beamforming power, which is defined as the RMS value of its output, we can use alternative directional estimators such as the peak value and crest factor to enhance the performance of a time-domain beamformer. In this study, the performance of three different directional estimators, the peak, crest factor and RMS output values, are investigated and compared with the incoherent interfering noise embedded in multiple microphone signals. The proposed formula is verified via experiments in an anechoic chamber using a uniformly spaced linear array. The results show that the peak estimation of beamformer output determines the location with better spatial resolution and a lower side lobe level than crest factor and RMS estimation in noise free condition, but it is possible to accurately estimate the direction of the impulsive sound source using crest factor estimation in noisy environment with stationary interfering noise.

  • Generally, noise from a home appliance has been measured by overall sound pressure level or sound power level, dB. Customers evaluation, however, of this noise should be depend on the only overall level but also the sensory feeling, annoyance, unpleasure and so on. Moreover, in this sensory evaluation, irregular, time-varying and uneven sounds which are difficult to describe itself by overall level are more affectable. Unfortunately however the formal evaluation method for this kinds of noise is not determined yet. In this research, the evaluation method for harmonic noise, which is a major noise from home appliance and one of the unmeasurable sounds by overall level, is proposed to evaluate its acceptability based on the consumer's sense of hearing. The proposed approach could be applied to the other sound, which acoustical characteristics are similar to the tonal noise.

Similitudes for the structural response and radiated sound power of simply supported plates

  • This communication investigates exact and distorted similitudes and the related scaling laws for the analysis of both dynamic response and radiated power of rectangular plates. The response of a given panel in similitude from another one is determined from a generalization of the modal approach, allowing the use of mode shapes, natural frequencies and finally radiation functions in order to establish appropriate scaling laws. Analytical models of simply supported rectangular plates are used to produce both original and replica model responses under point mechanical excitation. Emphasis is then especially put on laboratory experiments which are performed on baffled simply supported aluminum panels under mechanical excitations. All the six possible scaling directions, i.e. predicting a plate vibroacoustic reponse from another plate, are reported. All obtained results show that structural response or radiated sound power of a given plate can be both recovered with satisfactory accuracy by using the related scaling laws, even if parent models are used.

고속철도차량의 터널 소음을 위한 차음 전략 (Sound Insulation Strategy for the Tunnel Noise in a High Speed Train)

  • 터널 내에서 고속철도 차량의 실내소음은 개활지 대비 5dB~7dB정도 증가한다. 그 원인은 터널 내 차체 외부의 음향 인텐시티가 급격히 증가하기 때문인데, 특히, 측면재의 외부에서는 개활지에 비해서 음향 인텐시티의 증가가 가장 크다. 따라서 터널 내에서는 차체의 측면을 통하여 음향파워의 투과 전달이 커질 가능성이 상당히 높다. 본 논문에서는 현재 개발중인 차세대 고속 철도차량의 터널 내 실내소음을 저감시키기 위한 종합적인 차음 전략을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 차체의 주요 차음재인 바닥 적층재, 측면 적층재 및 복층 유리창의 시편을 제작하여 ASTM E2249-02에 근거하여 투과손실 측정한다. 측정 데이터에 근거하여 차음 성능상의 문제점을 진단하고, 차음성능 향상을 위한 층별 개선 방안과 적층 구조의 개선 방안을 제시한다.

기능성 소화불량증에서 위장관 미주신경 활성 평가를 위한 심박변이지표와 장음지표의 상관성 연구 (Correlation between HRV and Bowel Sound Parameters in the Evaluation of Gastrointestinal Parasympathetic Nerve Activity from Patients with Functional Dyspepsia)

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate the evaluation of gastrointestinal parasympathetic nerve activity by comparing between HRV and bowel sound parameters in patients with functional dyspepsia. Methods : 62 patients (male 22, female 40) were enrolled. HRV was measured in all patients. and TP (total power), LF (low frequency density: 0.04$\sim$0.15Hz), HF (high frequency density: 0.15$\sim$0.4Hz). and LF/HF ratio were analyzed. HF band is a reflection of parasympathetic activity. and the LF-to-HF ratio is considered a marker of sympathovagal balance. Bowel sounds were recorded at the day after, and postprandial %BS was used to indicate the gastric vagal activity after eating. HRV and bowel sound parameters were compared. and correlation between them was analyzed. Results : There was no difference in LF/HF ratio between patient group and healthy group of other report. According to values of %BS, each patient was classified into a normal (>6 %BS) or hypoactivity (<6 %BS) of gastric vagus nerve group. HF component of the hypoactivity group was not significantly higher than that of the normal group. There was no correlation between HRV and bowel sound parameters. Conclusions : Because no correlation was found between HRV and bowel sound parameters in patients with functional dyspepsia, we concluded that it is not proper to evaluate gastric vagus nerve activity by HRV measurement.

  • The increase of $CO_2$ emission by increasing of fossil fuel usage has been understood a major cause of global warming. The supply of electric energy is heavily dependent on the massive thermal power and nuclear power plant before developing the renewable energy to supply the electric energy stably at a low price. The large and sound forged components of pressure vessel, turbine and generator are widely used in power plant such as wind power, hydroelectric power generation, nuclear power and thermal power plant. This paper is discussed the trend of manufacturing technology for pressure vessel and turbine to satisfy the required condition of utility company. It is also introduced a strategy of forging industry to cope with carbon tax.
