  • Nowadays, the construction sites are growing in city every year, so complaints for construction noise have increased more and more. To analyze this noise scientifically, construction noise prediction program was developed in 1998 and 2005 but it is too difficult to apply program in field because there is few soundproof facilities and it can't understand the coordinate system and so on. The aim of this study is to develop noise prediction program to apply in construction sites. For this, the problems of existing program was analyzed and survey was performed to get requestion of field overseer and upgraded program. To get reliability of program, it was compared with sound measurement value in field. As a result, construction sound prediction program have various soundproof facilities data than existing program. It can also analyze multi receiver point at the same time for several construction machinery. Most of all, it is more powerful to set receiver or source in the axis of X, Y, Z. so program user can make use of it easily. An average of difference is -0.9~1.8 dB.

  • This thesis deals a method to deliver more realistic sound by cancelling the cross-talk which is inherent to the 5.1 channel speaker system. The acoustical model for cross-talk cancellation is the free field model. This model minimizes distortion of sound. I used the bark scale sound quality compensation which based on psycho-acoustic. For the surround channels, band-limited sound quality compensation is performed in the frequency domain. I also performed the sound quality assessment test on the traditional 2 channel stereo and 5.1 channel system. This test is performed in the test chamber which satisfies the ITU-R specifications. I uses the IACC (Inter-Aural Cross-Correlation) to determine the preferences of the amateur and the golden ear experts to asses the trans-aural filter. According to the result from the proposed method, I got more the 38 dB separation rates with the Dolby standard speaker array. The results on the diffusion by the subjective test with the experts shows 0.4 point increased then before.

  • The main objective of this paper is to compute the far-field acoustic radiation (sound radiation) of functionally graded plates (FGM) loaded by sinusoidally varying point load subjected to the arbitrary boundary condition is carried out. The governing differential equations for thin functionally graded plates (FGM) are derived using classical plate theory (CPT) and Rayleigh integral using the elemental radiator approach. Four cases, segregated on power-law index k=0,1,5,10, are studied. A novel approach is illustrated to compute sound fields of vibrating FGM plates using the physical neutral surface with an elemental radiator approach. The material properties of the FGM plate for all cases are calculated considering the power law indexes. An in-house MATLAB code is written to compute the natural frequencies, normal surface velocities, and sound radiation fields are analytically calculated using semi-analytical formulation. Ansys is used to validate the computed sound power level. The parametric effects of the power law index, modulus ratios, different constituent of FGM plates, boundary conditions, damping loss factor on the sound power level, and radiation efficiency is illustrated. This work is the benchmark approach that clearly explains how to calculate acoustic fields using a solid layered FGM model in ANSYS ACT. It shows that it is possible to asymptotically stabilize the structure by controlling the intermittent layers' stiffness. It is found that sound fields radiated by the elemental radiators approach in MATLAB, ANSYS and literatures are in good agreement. The main novelty of this research is that the FGM plate is analyzed in the low-frequency range, where the stiffness-controlled region governs the whole analysis. It is concluded that a clamped mono-ceramic FGM plate radiates a lesser sound power level and higher radiation efficiency than a mono-metallic or metal-rich FGM plate due to higher stiffness. It is found that change in damping loss factor does not affect the same constituents of FGM plates but has significant effects on the different constituents of FGM plates.

  • In order to investigate the radiation of sound from the King Song-Duk bell, we measured the sound pressure around the bell at every 30$^{\circ}$ using a microphone line array which was composed of 30 microphones separated by 15cm;total number of measurement point was 360. The sound field was estimated by using cylindrical acoustic holography. The spectrum of measured sound pressure demonstrates that it is almost like white noise in the very beginning, but in 10 seconds two close frequency components(64.06Hz, 64.38Hz) remain and make a famous beating. This beating sound is often believed to make unique sound of the King Song-Duk bell. The mode shapes of that frequency components are the same except that one is rotated by 45$^{\circ}$ from the other. This phenomenon occurs at the other pairs of components are the same except ones in very high frequency range where the mode shapes are rather complex.

  • The performance of ultrasonic testing systems for industrial or medical purpose largely depends on the performance of ultrasonic transducers. Generally, the information about an ultrasonic transducer performance characteristics are expressed by the ultrasonic R/F signal back from a reflector and its frequency characteristics in the data sheet provided by manufacturers. In case of focused ultrasonic transducers, the two pieces of information can, however, hardly assure that the focused ultrasonic transducer would produce well-focused C-scan images. Therefore, we propose the measured size of focal spot and the reconstructed shape of effective focal zone in the focused sound field as novel measures for the performance evaluation of the focused ultrasonic transducers. The process of getting the both measures of the transducers is conducted by the implemented software including sound field scanning and virtual 3D reconstruction functions which requires the echo of a point reflector. The proposed method could, otherwise impossible in the existing method, effectively and simply distinguish superior ones among many transducers made in the same specification and be also used to detect the performance degradation due to the aging of the transducers. Eventually, the quality of performance of the ultrasonic testing systems for industrial or medical purpose is secured.

  • A energy equation for a thin plate and surrounding fluid is derived. The equation essentially determines the relation between internal loss of thin plate, energy of acoustic radiation, and structure intensity. We attempted to use this relation to measure internal loss of thin plate. The significance of this approach is that internal loss at any point of a thin plate can be measured. The quality of this measure is dicated by the accuracy of associated measurement systems such as structure and acoustic intensity measurements. A strain gauge bridge system has been developed to measure structure intensity of thin plate. Its performance is tested by experiments.

  • The recently those of various gatherings or events are gradually increasing not only at the general public performance hall but also at the outdoor performance hall. However, since the most of the domestic outdoor performance halls are being designed and executed without the proper consideration and care for Acoustic Characteristic thereat, a satisfying acoustic management are not established due to above reason. From this point of view, this study presents the basic data that will increase the sound performance in designing of the outdoor performance hall, by conducting the comparative analysis on the architectural sound characteristics through the field survey on to the 3 outdoor performance halls that have different characteristics, in order to present the appropriate standards.

  • This study investigates the influence of loading and inflow conditions on tidal turbine performance from a hydrodynamic and hydroacoustic point of view. A boundary element method is utilized for the former to investigate turbine performance at various loading conditions under zero/non-zero yaw inflow. The boundary element method is selected as it has been selected, tested, and validated to be computationally efficient and accurate for marine hydrodynamic problems. Once the hydrodynamic solutions are obtained, such as the time-dependent surface pressures and periodic motion of the turbine blade, they are taken as the known noise sources for the subsequence hydroacoustic analysis based on the Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings formulation given in a form proposed by Farassat. This formulation is coupled with the boundary element method to fully consider the three-dimensional shape of the turbine and the speed of sound in the acoustic analysis. For validations, a model turbine is taken from a reference paper, and the comparison between numerical predictions and experimental data reveals satisfactory agreement in hydrodynamic performance. Importantly, this study shows that the noise patterns and sound pressure levels at both the near- and far-field are affected by different loading conditions and sensitive to the inclination imposed in the incoming flow.
