Solvothermal Synthesis and Gas Permeation Properties of Nanoporous HKUST-1 Membranes (용매열합성법에 의한 나노기공 HKUST-1 막의 제조 및 기체투과 특성)

  • In this study, nanoporous HKUST-1 membranes were synthesized by solvothermal method. It is very difficult to prepare uniform and crack-free HKUST-1 layer on macroporous alumina support by in-situ solvothermal method. In this study, continuous and crack-free HKUST-1 membranes could be obtained by spraying solvothermal precursor solution on the heated alumina support, followed by solvothermal synthesis. HKUST-1 membranes were characterized by XRD, FE-SEM and single gas permeation experiments.

  • This study focuses on the removal of water-suspended toluene of a representative sick house compounds in a liquid photo-system using nanometer-sized Sn-incorporated $TiO_2$ which was synthesized by a solvothermal method. The characteristics of the synthesized Sn-$TiO_2$ were analyzed by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and UV-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis). To estimate the photocatalytic activity of Sn-$TiO_2$, the photodegradation of water-suspended toluene was performed, and the remaining concentration was determined using UV-visible spectroscopy. The water-suspended toluene photodegradation over Sn-incorporated $TiO_2$ catalyst was better than that over pure $TiO_2$ (anatase). The water-suspended toluene of 500 ppm was perfectly decomposed within 300 minutes over 0.01 mol% Sn-$TiO_2$.

  • A solvothermal synthetic method to $BaTiO_3$ nanoparticle has been investigated in toluene solution with $BaTi(OR)_6$ as precursor. A precursor prepared from barium metal with toluene, isopropanol and titanium isopropoxide was used as a starting material. Weight ratio of precursor to solvent prepared in the mixture are 5/100, 10/100, 20/100 and 50/100wt%. At the weight ratio of 50/100wt%, $BaTiO_3$ butterfly twin crystalline(${\fallingdotseq}100nm$) was obtained after synthesis at $250^{\circ}C$ for 20hrs in an autoclave. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy showed that the product of 50/100wt% has crystallization. At 5/100, 10/100, and 20/100wt%, however, red colloidal solution was obtained after synthesis and crystalline phase of $BaTiO_3$ was not produced.

Luminescence properties of Eu3+ : RE2O3 [RE = Gd, Y, La] nanocrystallines prepared by solvothermal reaction method

  • Eu3+-doped RE2O3 (RE = Gd, Y and La) phosphors were prepared by solvothermal reaction method and their crystalline structure, phase transformation and surface morphologies were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The obtained RE2O3:Eu3+ phosphors are nanocrystalline-sized. The luminescence properties of Eu3+ ions in different host materials, namely, Gd2O3, Y2O3 and La2O3 have been investigated. PACS number: 32.50.+d, 78.55.-m, 81.40.Tv.

  • In this study, nanoporous $Cu_3(BTC)_2$ membranes were synthesized on macroporous alumina tube supports by solvothermal method. It is very difficult to prepare uniform and crack-free $Cu_3(BTC)_2$ layer on macroporous alumina support by in situ solvothermal method. In this study, continuous and crack-free $Cu_3(BTC)_2$ tubular membranes could be obtained by in situ solvothermal process after surface modification of alumina support. The surface modification was conducted by spraying Cu precursor solution on the alumina support heated at $200^{\circ}C$. The prepared $Cu_3(BTC)_2$ tubular membranes were characterized by XRD, FE-SEM and gas permeation experiments. $H_2$ permeance through $5{\mu}m$ thick $Cu_3(BTC)_2$ tubular membrane was calculated to be $7.8{\times}10^{-7}mol/s{\cdot}m^2{\cdot}Pa$ by single gas permeation test, with the ideal selectivities of $H_2/N_2=11.94$, and $H_2/CO_2=12.82$.

Synthesis of Zr-incorporated TiO2 Using a Solvothermal Method and its Photovoltaic Efficiency on Dye-sensitized Solar Cells

  • This study examines the photoelectric conversion efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) when nanometer-sized Zr (0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 mol %)-$TiO_2$ prepared using a solvothermal method is utilized as the working electrode material. The particle sizes observe in the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images are < 30 nm in all samples. The absorption band is slightly broadened at the tail for the 0.1 mol % Zr-$TiO_2$, and the intensity of the photoluminescence (PL) curves of the Zr-incorporated $TiO_2$ is significantly smaller than that of the pure $TiO_2$. Compared to that using pure $TiO_2$, the energy conversion efficiency is enhanced considerably by the application of Zr-$TiO_2$ in the DSSCs to approximately 6.17% for 0.5 mol % Zr-$TiO_2$ with the N719 dye (10.0 ${\mu}m$ film thickness and 5.0 mm ${\times}$ 5.0 mm cell area) under 100 mW/$cm^2$ of simulated sunlight.

  • Among the various nanoparticles reported for commercial applications, considerable interest has been generated by the use of silver nanoparticles. Owning to extremely small size, silver nanoparticles exhibit enhanced properties when compared with the bulk material. In this research work, silver nanoparticles were prepared by the reduction of silver salt with a reducing agent by a solvothermal method using different solvent mediums such as ethanol, hexane, toluene and acetone with water. The prepared silver nanoparticles were characterized systematically by X-ray diffraction (XRD), particle size analysis and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results revealed the formation of pure silver phase and nano-sized particles. Among the different solvent mediums used, the silver nanoparticles prepared by hexane and water as solvent mixture resulted in very low particle size.

  • Multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) miniaturization has increased the demand for superfine $BaTiO_3$ powder due to its thin dielectric layer. Hydrothermally synthesized $BaTiO_3$ powder a pseudo-cubic phase resulting in poor dielectric properties due to size effect and hydroxyl ion inclusion in the $BaTiO_3$ lattice. We attempted a superfine (lower than 100 nm) highly tetragonal $BaTiO_3$ powder via a solvothermal method without precipitating agent. The lattice parameters and the relative amounts of tetragonal and cubic phases were determined using Rietveld refinement.

  • In this study, we prepared CNF (carbon nanofiber) by the solvothermal method for FED (field emission display) applications. We controlled several conditions to synthesize effective CNF for field emission applications. Nano-sizesd Pt nanoparticles were coated on the CNF. In this study, we have applied Pt nanoparticles- coated CNF which can be produced in mass, to field emission application.
