Solid-Phase Synthesis of 2-Arylbenzothiazole Using Silica Sulfuric Acid under Microwave Irradiation

  • The condensation of several aromatic/heteroaromatic aldehydes with 2-aminothiophenol catalyzed by silica sulfuric acid under microwave irradiation afforded 2-arylbenzothiazoles in high yields and short reaction times under solvent-free conditions. The major advantages of the present method are good yields, ecofriendly, reusable catalyst, mild and solvent-free reaction conditions.

  • A series of pyranopyrazoles, was efficiently synthesized via one-pot, four component reaction of ethyl acetoacetate, hydrazine hydrate, aldehydes and malononitrile in the presence of catalytic amount silicotungstic acid under solvent free condition. NOE experiments confirmed that the product exist exclusively in the 2H form. The present protocol offers the advantages of clean reaction, short reaction time, high yield, easy purification and economic availability of the catalyst.

  • Carbon-based solid acid catalyst was found to be highly efficient, eco-friendly and recyclable heterogeneous catalyst for the multicomponent reaction of dimedone, aromatic aldehydes, and a nitrogen source (ammonium acetate or aromatic amines) under solvent-free conditions, giving rise to 1,8-dioxodecahydroacridines in high yields. The present methodology offers several advantages, such as a simple procedure with an easy work-up, short reaction times, high yields, and the absence of any volatile and hazardous organic solvents.

  • Stable crystalline 1-Benzyl-4-aza-1-azonia-bicyclo[2.2.2]octane tribromide (BABOT), can be readily synthesized from the reaction of the corresponding bromide with $HNO_3$ and aqueous KBr. Selective Oxidation of a variety of dialkyl and alkyl Aryl sulfides to the corresponding sulfoxides in high yield was achieved by this reagent in solution ($CH_3CN/H_2O$) and solvent free conditions. The reaction proceeds under neutral and mild conditions and can be carried out easily at room temperature with regeneration of BABOT. In this method purification of products is straightforward and no over oxidation to sulfone was noted.

  • A series of $Ce_1Mg_xZr_{1-x}O_2$ (CMZO) mixed metal oxide with different molar ratio were prepared by simple co-precipitation method. The prepared materials were tested for their catalytic activity performance using Knoevenagel condensation of various aromatic aldehydes with barbituric acid under solvent-free condition in microwave. The best catalytic activity was obtained with CMZO (1:0.6:0.4). The synthesized materials were characterized by using XRD, FT-IR, SEM-EDS techniques.

  • An efficient and environmentally benign protocol for the three-component synthesis of triazoloindazoles and indazolophthalazines via condensation of dimedone, aldehydes and urazole or phthalhydrazide catalyzed by $ZrOCl_2.8H_2O$ as an inexpensive and eco-friendly catalyst with high catalytic activity under solvent-free conditions is reported. This protocol provides a new and improved method for obtaining triazoloindazoles and indazolophthalazines in terms of good yields, simple experimental procedure and short reaction time.

  • A facile and simple procedure for the synthesis of novel and known calix[4]resorcinarene derivatives were developed via a reaction of arylaldehydes with resorcinol in the presence of catalytic amounts of tungstate sulfuric acid (TSA) under solvent-free conditions. This eco-friendly method has many appealing attributes, such as excellent yields, short reactions times, use of safe and recoverable catalyst, and simple work-up procedures. TSA was characterized by powdered X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and FTIR spectroscopy.
