  • As a part of evaluating the volatility of iodide ions subjected to gamma irradiation, $I_2$ evaporation experiments were performed with $I_2$ and $I^-$ mixed solutions in the temperature range $26-80^{\circ}C$ in an open, well-ventilated space. The evaporation of $I_2$ was observed to follow primarily first order kinetics, depending on the $I_2$ concentration. The evaporation rate constant increased rapidly with increase in temperature. The presence of $I^-$ slightly reduced the evaporation rate of $I_2$ by forming relatively stable $I_3^-$. The effect of $Cl^-$ at <1.0 wt% on $I_2$ evaporation was insignificant. The evaporation rate constants of $I_2$ were $1.3{\times}10^{-3}min^{-1}\;cm^{-2}$, $2.4{\times}10^{-2}min^{-1}\;cm^{-2}$, and $8.6{\times}10^{-2}min^{-1}\;cm^{-2}$, at $26^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$, and $80^{\circ}C$, respectively.

  • In this study, we investigate organic-inorganic halide perovskite solar cells with a vacuum thermal evaporated hole transporting layer (NPB/MoO3-x). By replacing solution process based Spiro-MeOTAD with vacuum thermal evaporation based NPB/MoO3-x, a thin hole transporting layer was implemented. In addition, parasitic absorption that may occur during the doping process was eliminated by excluding solution process doping. In a solar cell with a thin vacuum thermal evaporated hole transporting layer, the short-circuit current density (Jsc) increased to 23.93 mA/cm2, resulting in the highest power converstion efficiency (PCE) at 18.76%. Considering these results, it is essential to control the thickness of hole transporting layer located at the top in solar cell configuration.

  • A urea-SCR system suffers from some issues associated with the ammonia slip phenomenon, which mainly occurs because of the shortage of evaporation and thermolysis time, and this makes it difficult to achieve an uniform distribution of injected urea. A numerical study was therefore performed by changing such various parameters as installed injector angle and application and angle of mixer to enhance evaporation and the mixing of urea water solution with exhaust gases. As a result, various parameters were found to affect the evaporation and mixing characteristics between exhaust gas and urea water solution, and their optimization is required. Finally, useful guidelines were suggested to achieve the optimum design of a urea-SCR injection system for improving the DeNOx performance and reducing ammonia slip.

  • Sustained release microspheres containing phenylpropanolamine HCI (PPA) were prepared with acrylic polymer (Eudragit RL/RS) sand hydroxypropylmethylcellulose phthalate (HPMCP) using a emulsion-solvent evaporation method. Magnesium strate was used a smoothing agent for preparation of microspheres. The microspheres obtained were very spherical and free-flowing particles. Scanning electron microscopy showed that microspheres have a smooth surface and a sponage-like internal structure. The dissolution rate of PPA from the microspheres was dependent on the pH of dissolution media. PPA showed faster relase in hP 1. 2 solution than in pH 7.4 solution due to the solubility of PPA. Therefore we prepared new microspheres containing 5% (w/v) HPMCP in order to control the release of PPA. The release rate of PPA from these new microspheres was similar in pH 1.2 and pH 7.4 solution.

  • In this study, modeling and optimization study have been performed to obtain $1,524.58kg\;h^{-1}$ of a solidified NaCl by evaporating a 21.0 wt% of NaCl aqueous solution in order to reduce the steam consumption from $3,139kg\;h^{-1}$ to $496kg\;h^{-1}$ using a two-stage evaporation and a vapor recompression processes. Aspen Plus release 8.8 at AspenTech was utilized for the modeling of two stage evaporation process and PRO/II with PROVISION release 9.4 at Schneider Electric was also used for the simulation of two-stage vapor recompression process with an inter-cooler. For the simulation of the evaporation process containing NaCl aqueous solution, Aspen Plus release 8.8 at AspenTech Inc. was utilized and for the modeling of vapor recompression process PRO/II with PROVISION release at Schneider Electric Inc. For the vapor recompression process, single stage compression and two-stage compression system was compared.

  • The waste solution, which was discharged from the recovery process of LCD etching solution, consists of 15 wt% nitric acid and 20 wt% acetic acid. In this study, it was conducted to separate acid individually from the mixed acid by vacuum evaporation under -760 mmHg gauge and at $40^{\circ}C$. We have investigated evaporation behavior of acid as a function of temperature. There have been problems that tiny amount of nitric acid were evaporated simultaneously above $33^{\circ}C$. Thus, efforts were conducted to recover acetic acid by vacuum evaporation with adding $H_2O$, waste mixed acid and 20 g/L NaOH for a curb on evaporation of nitric acid. By adding $H_2O$, evaporation of nitric acid was reduced from 7% to 0.78%. However, it was reduced from 7% to 0.25% by adding mixed acid. In view of the results achieved so far, we may expect to separate the etching solution individually by controlling vacuum conditions.

  • We describe the DuPont Displays full color OLED printing and materials technologies. The process is more cost-effective and scalable than thermal evaporation through shadow masks. The materials lifetime is sufficient for most portable applications and is nearing that required for stationary displays. Recently, 4.3" WQVGA displays were demonstrated.

  • We have fabricated CIGS thin film absorber layers by the evaporation of CIGS powders which were synthesized by solutions with different atomic ratio compositions. We found that the polycrystalline structural properties and optical properties of the deposited CIGS thin films were strongly dependent on the CIGS powder synthesis solution compositions. For three different solution compositions, Cu:In:Ga:Se= 4:3:1:8, 8:3:1:8, 12:3:1,8, the deposited thin film crystalline structures were varied form InSe crystalline structure to CIGS chalcopyrite structures. Our results showed that CIGS powder evaporation is potential for the one step fabrication process for CIGS thin film absorber layer deposition.

  • In this study, an attempt was made to form magnesium oxide layer via aqueous solution route of salt precipitation process. A layer with flake morphology was formed from the process and various dopants were added during the forming process. The films formed were characterized using SEM, XRD, and cathodoluminescence measurement. In addition, the discharge characteristics were evaluated using panel tests. The results indicate that MgO film can be formed via the aqueous solution process successfully, of which characteristics are comparable to those of MgO film formed by e-beam evaporation process.

  • The electrochromic WO$_3$ thin films were prepared by using an electron - beam evaporation technique. The influence of the electron - beam evaporation conditions. especially the vacuum pressure, and resistance of ITO substrate on the structural and electrochromic properties of the investigated film was presented. This films showed electrochromic behavior in an aqueous electrolyte of 1 M H$_2$SO$_4$. Among these WO$_3$ thin films, films prepared at a vacuum pressure of 10$^{-4}$ mbar were found to be most stable in terms of cycling durability. The chemical stability of film against dissolution in the aqueous solution was also shown to depend on the quantity of water in the film.
