  • This study investigated improvement to sludge dewaterability and coagulation for sewage treatment plant sludge by using sodium hypochlorite solution (NaOCl), ferric sulfate [$Fe_2(SO_4)_3$] and zeolite. The specific resistance to filtration(SRF), chloride, pH and turbidity were used to evaluate the sludge dewatering behaviors. The results of study were as follows: By varying the amount of NaOCl added the optimum result in terms of enhancement for pretreatment occurred when 34 mg/l of NaOCl was injected. When the total solids concentration of the sludge was 10,000 mg/l, the optimum ferric sulfate dosage for the sludge dewaterability was 150 mg/l and the corresponding SRF was $1.7{\times}10^7sec^2/g$. It was observed that injecting zeolite into sludge was effective in improving the dewaterability of sludge.

  • A Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction in a liquid-liquid system under microwave radiation was observed under non-stirring conditions. To control this non-equilibrium reaction, nano-particle, which is active under microwave irradiation, was added to the solution. Color changes of the solution during the oscillatory reaction were found to be influenced by the irradiation power although the droplet temperature was equal to the temperature of surrounding oil. During the irradiation, the period of oscillation became shorter because the reaction rate was faster. It could also be observed that there is possibility to eliminate oscillatory behaviors of the reaction using higher power of microwave. The possibility of controlling non-linear reaction using microwave was shown since microwave can easily travel through oil phase and reach water phase.

  • The analytic solution of the stress field at creep crack in the presence of grain boundary caviation is to be obtained by solving the governing equation which was derived through the previous paper. The complex integral technique is used to slove the singular integral equation. under the help of the information about stress behaviors at the ends of integral region know by numerical solution. The resultant stress disstribution obtained shows the relaxed crack-tip singularity of $r^{1/2+\theta}$ due to the intervention of cavitation effect, otherwise, it should assumed to be $r^{1/2}$ singularity of linear elastic fracture mechanics with no cavitation.

  • The effects of severe plastic deformation by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) and subsequent heat treatment on the low cycle fatigue behaviors of Al-Mg-Si alloy were investigated. The specimens which were peak aged at $175^{\circ}C$ after solution treatment showed cyclic hardening at all strain amplitudes, while the specimens ECAPed after solution treatment showed cyclic softening at all strain amplitudes during fatigue. The specimens aged at $100^{\circ}C$ after ECAP showed slight cyclic hardening. Various changes of cyclic fatigue behavior after severe plastic deformation and/or heat treatment were discussed in terms of the microstructural changes and precipitation conditions.

  • The hydrogenation catalyst precursors $[(L-L)Rh(NBD)]ClO_4\;(L-L=Fe({\eta}^5-C_5H_4PBu^t\;_2)_2,\;Fe({\eta}^5-C_5H_4PPhBu^t)_2$; NBD = norbornadiene) react with $H_2(1\;atm,\;30^{\circ}C$, MeOH) to yield $[(L-L)HRh({\mu}-H)_3RhH(L-L)]ClO_4$. These hydrido species are fluxional, and variable temperature NMR studies show the existence of a number of equilibria involving both fluxional and non-fluxional species. The synthesis, solution structures, and fluxional behaviors of these hydrides are described.

  • In this paper, electrochemical techniques are used to investigate hydrothermal-electrochemically formation of barium titanate (BT) ceramic films. For comparison, the electrochemical behaviors of anodic titanium oxide films formed in alkaline solution were also investigated both at room temperature and in hydrothermal condition at 150.0 ℃. Film structure and morphology were identified by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Titanium oxide films produced at different potentials exhibit different film morphology. The breakdown of titanium oxide films anodic growth on Ti electrode plays an important roles in the formation of BT films. BT films can grow on anodic oxide/metal substrate interface by short-circuit path, and the dissolution-precipitation processes on the ceramic film/solution interface control the film structure and morphology. Based upon the current experimental results and our previous work, extensively schematic proce-dures are proposed to model the mechanism of ceramic film formation by hydrothermal-electrochemical method.

  • This paper looks into phase plane behavior of the solution near the positive steady-state for the system with prey density dependent response functions. The positive invariance and boundedness property of the solution to the objective model are proved. The existence result of a positive steady-state and asymptotic analysis near the positive constant equilibrium for the objective system are of interest. The results of phase plane analysis for the system are proved by observing the asymptotic properties of the solutions. Also some numerical analysis results for the behaviors of the solutions in time are provided.

  • This paper deals with anodic oxidation behavior of AZ31 Mg alloy in aqueous solutions containing various NaF concentrations from 0.01 M to 1 M. Three different voltage-time curves and anodic oxide formation behaviors appeared with concentration of NaF in deionized water. When NaF concentration is lower than 0.02 M, the voltage of AZ31 Mg alloy increased linearly and then reached a steady-state value more than 200 V, and large size pits and thin oxide layer were formed. When NaF concentration is between 0.05 M and 0.1 M, the voltage of AZ31 Mg alloy showed large periodic fluctuations of about 30 ~ 50 V around more than 200 V and large number of small particles were observed. If NaF concentration is higher than 0.2 M, PEO films can be formed without visible arcs under solution pH 6.5 ~ 7.5 by F- ions without help of OH- ions.

The construction site monitoring system integrates a long-range wireless network, network cameras, and a web-based collaborative platform. The users of the system could obtain the most updated status of construction sites, such as behaviors of workers, project progress, and site events anywhere with Internet connectivity. It was carefully configured in order to maintain the reliability under the reactive conditions of the construction sites. This paper reports the architecture of the monitoring system and reviews the related technologies. The system has been implemented and tested on a construction site and promising results were obtained.

  • Glutathione(L-$\gamma$ -glutamyl-L-cysteinylglycine, GSH) produced by microbial enzymes was separated by a liquid chromatography. In order to select a resin which would bind GSH efficiently, a batch adsorption experiment was carried out with GSH solution and various resins at pH 8.0 GSH bound to Q-sepharose and QAE-sephadex among anion exchange resins, but the latter was found not to be suitable because of the reduction of resin volume at high salt concentration. Preliminary experiments using a standard solution were carried out to separate GSH. GSH and $\gamma$ -glutamylcysteine were separated from the other constituents by applying step gradient of salt(NaCl) concentration. GSH was successfully separated from $\gamma$ -glutamylcysteine by applying Tris buffer containing 35mM NaCl. Chromatographic separation behaviors for the enzymatic product was similar to that for the standard solution. Separation yields of GSH from the standard solution and enzymatic product solution were 72.6% and 84.4%, respectively.
