Recently, the fuel oil of diesel engines of marine ships has been increasingly changed to heavy oil of low quality as the oil price is getting higher and higher. Therefore, the spiral gear attached at the motor of the oil purifier which plays an important role to purify the heavy oil is also easy to expose at severe environmental condition due to the purification of the heavy oil in higher temperature. Thus, the material of the spiral gear requires a better mechanical strength, wear and corrosion resistance. In this study, the heat treatment(tempering) with various holding time at temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ was carried out to the alloy of Cu-7Al-2.5Si as centrifugal casting, and the properties of both hardness and corrosion resistance with and without heat treatment were investigated with observation of the microstructure and with electrochemical methods, such as measurement of corrosion potential, cathodic and anodic polarization curves, cyclic voltammogram, and a.c. impedance. in natural seawater solution. The ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}^{\prime}$ and ${\gamma}_2$ phases were observed in the material in spite of no heat treatment due to quenching effect of a spin mold. However, their phases, that is, ${\beta}^{\prime}$ and ${\gamma}_2$ phases decreased gradually with increasing the holding time at a constant temperature of $500^{\circ}C$. The hardness more or less decreased with heat treatment, however its corrosion resistance was improved with the heat treatment. Furthermore, the longer holding time, the better corrosion resistance. In addition, when the holding time was 48hrs, its corrosion current density showed the lowest value. The pattern of corroded surface was nearly similar to that of the pitting corrosion, and this morphology was greatly observed in the case of no heat treatment. It is considered that ${\gamma}_2$ phase at the grain boundary was corroded preferentially as an anode. However, the pattern of general corrosion exhibited increasingly due to decreasing the ${\gamma}_2$ phase with heat treatment. Consequently, it is suggested that the corrosion resistance of Cu-7Al-2.5Si alloy can be improved with the heat treatment as a holding time for 48 hrs at $500^{\circ}C$.
Four polymorphic forms (I, II, III and IV) of hydrochlorothiazide have been characterized on the basis of x-ray diffractometry and differential thermal analysis. Form I was obtained by crystallization from N, N-dimethylformamide and Form II was crystallized from hot methanol. Form III was precipitated from sodium hydroxide aqueous solution by treatment with hydrochloric acid and Form IV was crystallized from 50% methanol. The metastable form I was a most stable form among four polymorphs, which was stable more than ten months at room temperature. The thermodynamic parameters such as heat of solution, enthalpy, entropy, free energy difference and transition temperature were determined by the measurement of intrinsic dissolution rate. The transition temperature and the heat of transition between the metastable Form I an Form II were determined to be $299.15^{\circ}$K and 5.03 Kcal/mole, respectively and free energy difference ($\delta$ F) was 302. 13 cal/mole. Diuretic action of these four polymorphic forms was also evaluated by monitoring the difference in urinary excretion of sodium, potassium and magnesium in rats.

A triple-band antenna was developed and fabricated by LDS(Laser Direct Structuring) process. The effects of the plating rate and heat treatment condition were investigated and the gains of fabricated antennas were measured at various frequencies. The laser irradiated surface shows clearly that there are prominence and depression. It shows anchoring effect between a plating material and ablation surface. The plating rate was decreased when the plating material is exhausted in the solution. This solution needs to refreshed by the new aid solution. The copper plating thickness is decreased with the increase of heat treatment temperature in the same time but it does not change other condition. The gain of LDS antenna showed higher than the generally processed antenna. This result was related with practical use of the dimension and effective dielectric constant.
Electromagnetic continuous casting (EMCC) was used to fabricate Ti-6Al-4V alloys with properties suitable for medical applications. Ti-6Al-4V alloy ingots fabricated by EMCC were subjected to heat treatment, such as residual stress removing (RRS), furnace cooling after solution treatment (ST-FC) and water-cooling after solution treatment (ST-WC), in order to obtain characteristics suitable for the standard. After component analysis, the microstructure and mechanical properties (tensile strength and elongation) were evaluated by ICP, gas analysis, OM, SEM, a Rockwell hardness tester and universal testing machine. The Ti-6Al-4V alloy ingot fabricated by EMCC was fabricated without segregation, and the lamellar structure was observed in the RRS and ST-FC specimens. The ST-WC specimen showed only martensite structure. As a result of evaluating the mechanical properties based on the microstructure results, we found that the water-cooled heat treatment condition after the solution treatment was most suitable for the Ti-6Al-4V ELI standard.
Physicochemical properties of heat-moisture (18, 21, 24 and 27%) treated naked barley (Youngsanbori) starch indicated that crystailinity of the starch was decreased upon treatment and water-binding capacity drastically increased as the moisture level increased. The swelling power was decreased, but the solubility increased by heat-moisture treatment. Apparent viscosity in aqueous sodium hydroxide solution was repressed as moisture-treatment level increased. Amylograph hot paste vicosities were decreased upon treatment except initial pasting temperature.
A transmission electron microscope (TEM) investigation has been performed on the precipitation of $L2_1$-type $Ni_2AlTi$ phase in B2-ordered NiAl system. The hardness after solution treatment is high in NiAl-Ti alloys suggesting the large contribution of solid solution strengthening in this alloy system. However, the amount of age hardening is not large as compared to the large microstructural variations during aging. At the beginning of aging, the $L2_1$-type $Ni_2AlTi$ precipitates keep a lattice coherency with the NiAl matrix. By longer periods of aging $Ni_2AlTi$ precipitates lose their coherency and change their morphology to the globular ones surrounded by misfit dislocations. Misfit dislocations, which are observed on {100} planes of H-precipitates have the Burgers vector of a <100> with a pure edge type. The lattice misfits of NiAl-$Ni_2AlTi$ system is estimated from the spacings of misfit dislocations to be 1.1% at 1273 K. The lattice misfits decrease with increasing aging temperature in this system.
Brittle microstructure created in a heat affected zone (HAZ) during the welding of low alloy steel can be eliminated by post-weld heat treatment (PWHT). If the PWHT is not possible during a repair welding, the controlled bead depositions of multi-pass welding should be applied to obtain tempering effect on the HAZ without PWHT. In order to anticipate and control the tempering effect during the temper bead welding, the definition of temperature curve obtained from the analytical solution was suggested in this research. Because the analytical solution for heat flow is expressed as a mathematical equation of weld parameters, it may be effective in anticipating the effect of each weld parameter on the tempering in HAZ during the successive bead depositions. The reheating effect by the successive bead layer on the brittle coarse grained HAZ formed by earlier bead deposition was estimated by comparing the overlapped distance between the temperature curves in the HAZ. Three layered weld specimens of SA508 base metal with A52 filler were prepared by controlling heat input ratio between layers. The tempering effect anticipated by using the overlapped distance between the temperature curves was verified by measuring the micro-hardness distribution in the HAZ of prepared specimens. The temperature curve obtained from analytical solution was expected as a good tool to find optimal temper bead welding conditions.
The effects of W content and heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Hastelloy C-276 alloy investment castings were discussed. As the W content was increased, dendritic microstructure was refined and network type precipitate formed during solidification was distributed on the dendritic grain boundaries. Cr, Fe and Mn were highly segregated in the Ni-based dendrite matrix, and Mo, W, C and Si were in the precipitates. Due to the heat treatment, fine granular and flake precipitates were newly formed in the matrix, and unresolved network type precipitates remained on the grain boundary. The network type precipitates and the granular and flake precipitates formed by heat treatment were confirmed to be ${\mu}$ phase intermetallic compounds with similar compositions. Due to the increase of the W content and the heat treatment, hardness and tensile strength were significantly increased. However, tensile strength after aging treatment was decreased with the W content. These results can be explained in that brittle fracturing by the unresolved network type precipitates dispersed in the grain boundary was predominant over ductile fracturing by the dimple ruptures originating from the fine granular precipitates in the matrix.
The conventional degreasing process involves removing oil and contaminants at temperatures above 80℃, resulting in excessive energy consumption, increased process costs, and environmental issues. In this study, we aimed to find the optimal degreasing conditions for the pre-treatment process of electro-galvanizing cold-rolled steel sheets, conducted efficiently at room temperature without the need for a separate heating device. To achieve this, we developed a room temperature degreasing solution and a brush-type degreasing tool, aiming to reduce energy consumption and normalize the decrease in degreasing efficiency caused by temperature reduction. Alkaline degreasing solution were prepared using KOH, SiO2, NaOH, Na2CO3, and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, with KOH and NaOH as the main components. To enhance the degreasing performance at room temperature, we manufactured additives including sodium oleate, sodium stearate, sodium palmitate, sodium lauryl sulfate, ammonium lauryl sulfate, silicone emulsion, and EDTA-Na. Room temperature additives were added to the alkaline degreasing solution in quantities ranging from 0.1 to 20 wt.%, and the uniformity of degreasing and the adhesion of the galvanized layer were evaluated through Dyne Test, T-bending Test, OM, SEM, and EDS analyses. The results indicated that the optimal degreasing solution composition consisted of NaOH (30 g/L), Na2CO3 (30 g/L), SLS (6 g/L), and room temperature additives (≤1 wt%).

Electroless Ni-Cu-P alloy plating of Al base hard disk was performed to investigate some properties according to the change of composition. It was found that the composition of Ni and Cu in deposits changed linearly with increasing the mole ratio of NiSO4.6H2O/CuSO4.5H2O. The increase in hardness by heat - treatment was confirmed to be associated with small size grained crystallization of the amorphous deposits. Acid resistance of all deposits layer. which had been heated up to 30$0^{\circ}C$, was found to be exellent when immersed in 1N-H2SO4 solution, and it showed more superior acid resistance with decreasing Cu content and with increasing P. The resistivity of the deposits heat treated became smaller at temperature more than 50$0^{\circ}C$, and it became largerly with increasing P content. Cu 44.1wt% alloy(C bath) showed the most superior non-magnetically stable characteristics after heat treatment. It was superiorly with higher temperature and with decreasing P content.
