Recently, many studies have been undertaken on the wet spinning and electrospinning of silk because wet-spun fibers and electrospun webs of silk can be applied in the biomedical and cosmetic fields owing to the good biocompatibility of silk. The rheological properties of silk solution are important because they strongly affect the spinning performance of the silk solution and the structures of resultant fibrous materials. Therefore, as a preliminary study on the effect of solvent composition on the rheological properties of silk fibroin (SF) solution and structure of the resultant film, in the reported work, methanol was added to the SF formic acid solution. A small amount of methanol (i.e. 2%) added to the SF formic acid solution significantly altered the rheological properties of the solution: its shear viscosity increased by 10 folds at low shear and decreased on increasing the shear rate, demonstrating shear thinning behavior of the SF solution. Dynamic tests for the SF solution indicated that the addition of 2% methanol altered the viscous state of the SF formic acid solution to elastic. However, the molecular conformation (i.e. β-sheet conformation) of the regenerated SF film cast from formic acid remained unchanged on the addition of 2% methanol.

It is well known that the two-parameter $J-A_2$ solution can well characterize the crack-tip fields and quantify the crack-tip constraint for different flawed geometries in variety of loading conditions. However, this solution fails to do so for bending dominated specimens or geometries at large deformation because of the influence of significant global bending stress on the crack-tip field. To solve this issue, a modified $J-A_2$ solution is developed in this paper by introducing an additional term to address the global bending influence. Using the $J_2$ flow theory of plasticity and within the small-strain framework detailed finite element analyses are carried out for the single edge notched bend (SENB) specimen with a deep crack in A533B steel at different deformation levels ranging from small-scale Yielding to large-scale Yielding conditions. The numerical results of the crack-tip stress field are then compared with those determined from the $J-A_2$ solution and from the modified $J-A_2$ solution at the same level of applied loading Results indicate that the modified $J-A_2$ solution largely improves the $J-A_2$ solution, and match very well with the numerical results in the region of interest at all deformation levels. Therefore, the proposed solution can effectively describe the crack-tip field and the constraint for bending dominated specimens or geometries.
A heuristic method TABU-CSP using Tabu Search (TS) is described for solving Constraint Satisfaction Problems (CSPs). The method is started with a complete but inconsistent solution of a binary CSP and obtained in prespecified number of iterations either a consistent solution or a near optimal solution with an acceptable number of conflicts. The repair in the solution at each iterative step is done by using two heuristics alternatively. The first heuristic is a min-conflicts heuristic that chooses a variable with the maximum number of conflicts and reassigns it the value which leads to the minimum number of conflicts. If the acceptable solution is not reached after the search continued for a certain number of iterations, the min-conflict heuristic is changed and the variable selected least number of times is chosen for repair. If an acceptable solution is not reached, the method switches back to the min-conflict heuristic and proceeds further. This allowed the method to explore a different region of search space space for the solution as well as to prevent cycling. The demonstration of the method is shown on a toy problem [9]which has no solution. The method is then tested on various randomly generated CSPs with different starting solutions. The performance of the proposed method in terms of the average number of consistency is checked and the average number of conflicts is conflicts is compared with that of the Branch and Bound(BB) method used to obtain the same solution. In almost all cases, the proposed method moves faster to the acceptable solution than BB.
The present study explored the way to desalinate seawater for agricultural irrigation using forward osmosis (FO) process using liquid fertilizer as draw solution. FO experiments were performed in a cross flow mode using flat sheet FO membrane. The effect of membrane orientation, flow rate, and draw solution concentration on the performance of forward osmosis was investigated by measuring water flux of forward osmosis membrane. The water flux when the draw solution was placed against the membrane active layer was lower than the water flux when the feed solution was placed against the membrane active layer. This results indicated that the decrease of effective osmotic pressure by dilutive internal concentration polarization was less than that by concentrative internal concentration polarization. Increasing flow rate from 66.7 to 133.1 $cm^3$/min resulted in increase of the water flux when the membrane active layer orient to draw solution and feed solution, respectively. The reduction of resistance to water flow increased water flux at higher flow rate. The water flux of FO membrane increased with increasing draw solution concentration from 10000 to 30000 mg/L. The water flux for $KH_2PO_4$ draw solution was similar to that for commercial fertilizer. Optimization of FO process would contribute to economically desalinate brackish water for agricultural use.
The effects of temperature, pH, light and concentration on the degradation of trimebutine maleate in aqueous solution were investigated on the basis of accelerated stability analysis, and the stabilization of the solution was attempted by addition of several additives. The decomposition of trimebutine maleate in solution followed first-order reaction the was not only accelerated by temperature elevation but also the lower the concentratin the more speeded up the reaction. The decomposition mechanism of trimebtine could be confirmed by hydrolysis of ester bond in the structure. It was assumed trimebutine maleate is so photosensitive that the solution of the drug underwent accelerated decomposition under UV rays. What is more, the degradation of trimebutine solution was supposed to catalyzed by specific acid-base catalysis considered the pH dependence for the hydrolysis of ester, and the solution was most stable over the range of pH 2-2.8 in solution. The additives, citric acid, asparitc acid and glutamic acid, inhibited considerably the decomposition of the drug solution, and these additives might be used as stabilizers in trimebutine maleate solution.
In order to investigate the growth response of grasses to chitosan solution amended soil were studied from the standpoint of estimating the growth stimulating adequate concentrations of chitosan solution amended soil in each grass. Three species in this experiment used were orchardgrass, tall fescue and reed canarygrass. Six different concentrations of chitosan solution amended soil were 0%(control), 0.01%, 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.5% and 1.0%, respectively. The resulte obtained were as follows ; 1. Leaf area(LA), dry weight of leaf(LW), dry weight of shoot(SHW), biological yield(BY), C/f ratio and T/R ratio were significantly different between species. 2. Growth stimulating effect by chitosan solution amended soil were found in plant length(PL) and T/R ratios of grasses. 3. Adequate concentrations of chitosan solution amended soil were different between species. The highest values of yield components and dry weight of plant parts were obtained at 0.01% in orchardgrass, 0,05% in reed canarygrass and 1.0% in tall fescue, respectively. 4. The growth response of grasses to chitosan solution amended soil were different between species. Thus, an increase in leaf area(LA) and dry weight of leaf(LW) by chitosan solution amended soil was mainly contributed to increase in dry weight of shoot(SHW) and biological yield(BY) in orchardgrass. Chitosan solution amended soil also stimulated growth of shoot and increased in biological yield(BY) in tall fescue. In reed canarygrass contributed to increase in C/F ratios. 5. Adequate concentrations of chitosan solution amended soil for an economical benefit of cultivation and dry matter production of grasses were ranged from 0.01% to 0.05% levels.
Using alkali treatment solution, neutrality treatment solution and acid treatment solution, the surface corrosion layer of copper plates and bronze plates that have been artificially corroded using HCl, $H_2SO_4$ and $HNO_3$ solutions were removed. In the case of alkali treatment solution, only air oxidation in the form of black tenorite and white cuproous chloride remained without being removed. In the case of using a neutrality treatment solution, a anhydrous type layer of reddish brown cupric chloride remained without being removed, together with this black and white corrosion substance. In the case of using an acid treatment solution, this red corrosion substance also remained, but all of the oxide was removed on the surface of the specimen that was treated by alternatively using alkali treatment solution and acid treatment solution. In the case of this treatment solution with the order of alkali-acid, oxidation no longer proceeded only through the distilled water cleaning process after treatment, thereby showing that oxidation from the cleaning solution no longer proceeded.
Using an isolated Rat heart preparation of the Sprague Dawley strain, the YUMC cardioplegic solution k the St. Thomas Hospital Cardioplegic Solution were compared in the non waking K working heart perfusion systems by evaluating the hemodynamics, [bio] chemical, and light microscopic finding The heart rate k coronary flow of the two groups in the 20 minutes post ischemic recovery time were 288.6*6.5 vs 283.7*12 and 21.3*1.0 vs 19.0*1.7 respectively with no statistical significance existing. However the aortic systolic pressure, aortic overflow, cardiac output which were 81.7[4.2 vs 78.4*1.8, 18.3*1.1 vs 13.0*2.5 and 36.9*0.9 vs 32.0*3.2 respectively with P < 0.01 indicate that the comparison of these three parameters is statistically meaningful. The amount of CPK extracted in the 20 minutes post 120 minutes of ischemia was compared for the two cardioplegic solution, the results of which turned out to be similar, light microscopic findings were also found to be similar. It is thought that the YUMC cardioplegic solution provided better results than the St. Thomas hospital solution because of the differing composition of the two solution such as glucose, mannitol, albumin were put only in the former solution enhancing osmolarity of the cardioplegic solution providing better hemodynamic results.

The purpose of this paper was to investigate the effects of solution treatment time and Sr-modification on the microstructure and property of the Al-Si piston alloy. It was found that as-cast microstructures of unmodified and Sr-modified Al-Si alloys consisted of a coarse acicular plate of eutectic Si, $Cu_3NiAl_6$ and $Mg_2Si$ phases in the ${\alpha}$-Al matrix but different in size and morphology. Both size and inter-particle spacing of Si particles were significantly changed by increasing of the solution treatment time. After a short solution treatment, the coarse acicular plate of the eutectic Si appears to be fragmented. Fully modified microstructure of Sr-modified alloy can reduce the solution treatment time to shorter compared to unmodified alloy. The maximum of a peak hardness value is found in the very short solution treatment of both Al-Si piston alloys. Compared to 10 h solution treatment, the solution treatment of 2-4 h is sufficient to achieve appropriate microstructures and hardness. The short solution treatment is very useful to increase the productivity and to reduce the manufacturing cost of the Al-Si piston alloys.
This study was carried out to determine the optimum temperature of the jicama pickle solution by evaluating physicochemical and sensory characteristics at various temperatures. The soaking solution of the jicama pickle was prepared at different temperatures (95, 75, 50, and 25℃). During storage, the titratable acidity, Brix, and the salinity of the jicama pickles increased, and these values increased with increasing temperature of the soaking solution. The higher the temperature of the soaking solution, the lower the L and b values. In all samples, the hardness increased rapidly until the 5th day of storage, and then gradually decreased. During storage, the jicama pickles showed a high tendency to harden at soaking solution temperatures of 75 and 95℃. Sensory evaluation indicated that the taste, flavor, crispness, and overall preference of the jicama pickle were higher at a soaking solution temperature of 75℃ and above. The higher the temperature of the soaking solution, the higher the acceptability. Based on these results, we conclude that soaking solution temperature of 75°¦95℃ in the manufacture of jicama pickles had a positive effect on the reduction in tissue softening and the sensory properties of the jicama pickle.
