In-situ micro-channeled multi tubular solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC) was fabricated using multi-pass extrusion process with out side diameter of 2.7 mm and active length of 5 mm that contained 61 individual cells. Cell materials used in this work were NiO-YSZ (50 : 50 vol.%), 8 mol% yttria-stabilized zirconia(8YSZ), $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}MnO_3(LSM)$ as anode, electrolyte, and cathode, respectively. The arrangement of each electrode and electrolyte layer in green bodies showed uniformity and integrity after extrusion and sintering. The XRD analysis confirmed that no reaction phases appeared and the microstructure of the electrolyte was fairly dense (relative density > 96%) after sintering.
$CO_2$ sensor was used only one solid electrolyte in many cases. To improve the sensing characteristics of $CO_2$ sensors, solid electrolyte $CO_2$ sensor has been developed by bi-electrolyte type sensor using Na-Beta-alumina and YSZ. However, in many further studies, bi-electrolyte type sensor was made by pellet pressed by press machine and additional treatment for formation of interface. In the aspect of mass production, using thick film and additional treatment is not suitable. In this study, $CO_2$ sensor was fabricated by bi-electrolyte structure which was made by an NBA paste layer deposited on YSZ pellet and fired at $1650^{\circ}C$ for 2 hour. The formation of stable interface between YSZ and NBA were confirmed by SEM image. When the type IV electrochemical cell arrangement represented by $CO_2,O_2,Pt{\mid}Li_2CO_3-CaCO_3{\parallel}NBA{\parallel}YSZ{\mid}O_2,Pt$ is used to measure the $CO_2$ concentration in air. This sensor EMF should depend only on the concentration of $CO_2$ by logarithmic. Also, sensor shows $P_{CO_2}$ and EMF relationship like nerstian reaction at a temperature of $450^{\circ}C$.
The purpose of this study is to research and develop solid polymer electrolyte(SPE) for Li secondary battery. PEO-$LiClO_4$ electrolyte with plasticizer is very unstable. Passivation phenomena in polymer electrolyte cell was described by the SPL model. The time dependance of the impedance indicates that a passivation layer grows rapidly on the Li surface. However, the growing of passivation layer on the Li surface can be restrained by addition of zeolite to the PEO electrolyte. It suggested that addition of zeoliteto to the PEO-$LiClO_4$ electrolyte effectively controls the formation of a passivation layer on Li electrode.
A simplified resistor network model for electrical and mass transport in anode-supported planar solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) was constructed in order to investigate the effect of interconnect rib geometry on the cell performance. For accurate potential calculation, activation and concentration over-potentials at the electrode/electrolyte interfaces were fully considered in this calculation. When contact resistance was not considered, the optimum interconnect rib length were calculated to be $0.1{\sim}0.2$ mm for 2 mm half unit cell for given operation conditions and properties. However, with realistic contact resistance, the interconnect rib length should be increased to provide larger contact area and thus to obtain better performance.
Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) have received considerable attention because of the advantages of high effiiciency, low pollution, cogeneration application and excellent integration with simplified reformer In this paper, we reported development of anode-tubular SOFC by wet process. For making tubular cell, Ni-cermet YSZ anode tube was fabricated using extrusion process, and YSZ electrolyte layer and LSM-YSZ composite, LSM, LSCF cathode layer were coated onto the anode supported tube using slurry dipping process and sintered by co-firing process. By using this tubular cell, we fabricated single cell consisted of the various cathode layers and 4 cell stack with an effective area of $75 cm^2$ per single cell, and evaluated their performance characteristics.
This study presents 0-dimensional model for solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs). The physics of the cell and the simplifying assumptions are presented, and only hydrogen participates in the electrochemical reaction. The electrical potential is predicted using this model. The Butler-Volmer equation is used to describe the activation polarization and the exchange current density is changed according to the partial pressure of reactants and the temperature. The electrical conductivities of electrodes and an electrolyte are calculated for the ohmic polarization. Material characteristics and temperature affect those factors. Analysis of concentration polarization based on transport of gaseous species through porous electrodes is incorporated in this model. Both binary diffusion and Knudsen diffusion are considered as the diffusion mechanism. For validation, simulation results at this work are compared with our experimental results and numerical results by other researchers.

This paper summarized concept, manufacture and results of the micro-tubular solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). The cells were fabricated by co-sintering of extruded micro-tubular anode support and electrolyte coating layer, and then additional cathode coating. The cells showed quick voltage rising within 1 minute, and the electrochemical performances were closely related to the balance of fuel utilization and performance loss. And a thermal-fluid simulation model was also reported in combination with the electrochemical evaluation results on the GDC-based micro-tubular SOFCs.

The purpose of this study is to research and develop solid polymer electrolyte(SPE) for all-stolid-state lithium battery. We investigated conductivity, electrochemical properites and impedence spectroscopy of poly(ethylene oxide)[PEO]/poly(vinylidene fluoride)[PVOF] blend electrolytes and charge/discharge cycling of LiCoO$_2$/SPE/Li cell. By adding PVDF and plasticizer to PEO-LICIO$_4$electrolyte, its condustivity was higher than that of PEO-LiCIO$_4$electrolyte. Also PEO$_4$PVDF$_4$LiClO$_4$PC$_{5}$EC$_{5}$ remains stable up to 4.4V vs Li/Li. The discharge capacity of the LiCoO$_2$composite cathode was 92mAh/g based on LiCoO$_2$.EX>.
Performance of single cell at solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) system is largely affected by electrocatalytic and thermal properties of cathode. Samarium-based perovskite oxide material is recently recognized as promising cathode material for intermediate temperature-operating SOFC due to its high electrocatalytic property. Perovskite structured $Sm_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_{3-\delta}$ and its composite material, $Sm_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_{3-\delta}/Sm_{0.2}Ce_{0.8}O_{1.9}$ were investigated in terms of area specific resistance (ASR), thermal expansion coefficient (TEC), thermal cycling and long term performance. $Sm_{0.2}Ce_{0.8}O_{1.9}$ was used as electrolyte material. Electrochemical ac impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and dilatometer were used to measure the cathodic properties. Composite cathode ($Sm_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_{3-\delta}$: $Sm_{0.2}Ce_{0.8}O_{1.9}$ = 6:4) showed a good ASR of 0.13${\Omega}$$cm^2$ at 650$^{\circ}C$ and its TEC value was 12.3${\times}$10-6/K at 600$^{\circ}C$ which is similar to the value of ceria-based electrolyte of 11.9${\times}$10-6/K. Performance of composite cathode was maintained with no degradation even after 13 times thermal cycle test.
Solid oxide electrolytes of 8mol% YSZ($Y_2O_3$ stabilized zirconia) were prepared at various sintering conditions and their ionic conductivities were measured. The highest ionic conductivity of $10^{-1}S.cm^{-1}$ was obtained when the sintering temperature was 1400oC and the sintering time was 10hr. Also the cathode material, $La_{1-x}Sr_xMnO_3$ was prepared by solid state reaction method and the overpotential, electrical conductivity, and charge transfer resistance between cathode material and YSZ electrolyte were studied. It was found that the optimum doping content of Sr for La was 50mo1%.
