  • The catalytic dehydrocoupling of bis(1-sila-3-butyl)benzene, 1 by Cp2ZrCl2/Red-Al and Cp2ZrCl2/n-BuLi combination catalysts yielded a mixture of oily and solid polymers. While the catalytic dehydrocoupling of 2-phenyl-l,3-disilapropane, 2 by Cp2ZrCl2/n-BuLi combination catalyst produced a mixture of oily and solid polymers, the catalytic redistribution/dehydrocoupling of 2 by Cp2ZrCl2/Red-Al combination catalyst gave oily polymer. The dehydrocoupling of 1 and 2, unless the prior silane redistribution occurs, seems to initially produce a low-molecular-weight polymer, which then undergoes an extensive cross-linking reaction of backbone Si-H bonds, leading to an insoluble polymer.

  • In this study, the curing characteristics of commonly used Hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene(HTPB)-based solid propellant according to the curing temperature and Equivalent ratio change were investigated. In addition, the effect of curing reaction according to their ratio and content in the Triphenyl bismuth(TPB), Maleic anhydride(MA) and Magnesium oxide(MgO) catalyst systems was confirmed. Finally, moisture was added for each propellant mixing process to check the effect of moisture on propellant curing.

  • A new heterogeneous acidic catalyst was successfully prepared by impregnation of silica (Aerosil 300) by an acidic ionic liquid, named 1-(4-sulfonic acid)butylpyridinium hydrogen sulfate [$PYC_4SO_3H$][$HSO_4$], and characterized using FT-IR spectroscopy, the $N_2$ adsorption/desorption analysis (BET), thermal analysis (TG/DTG), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. The amount of loaded acidic ionic liquid on Aerosil 300 support was determined by acid-base titration. This new solid acidic supported heterogeneous catalyst exhibits excellent activity in the synthesis of 2-aryl-2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones by cyclocondensation reaction of 2-aminobenzamide with aromatic aldehydes under solvent-free conditions and the desired products were obtained in very short reaction times with high yields. This catalyst has the advantages of an easy catalyst separation from the reaction medium and lower problems of corrosion. Recycling of the catalyst and avoidance of using harmful organic solvent are other advantages of this simple procedure.

  • Preparation of ammonium dihydrogenphosphate supported on alumina ($NH_4H_2PO_4/Al_2O_3$) and its primary application as a solid acid supported heterogeneous catalyst to the synthesis of 1,2,4,5-tetrasubstituted imidazoles by a one-pot, four-component condensation of benzil, aromatic aldehydes, primary amines, and ammonium acetate under thermal solvent-free conditions were described. The results showed that the novel catalyst has high activity and the desired products were obtained in high yields. Furthermore, the products could be separated simply from the catalyst, and the catalyst could be recycled and reused with only slight reduction in its catalytic activity. Characterization of the catalyst was performed by FT-IR spectroscopy, the $N_2$ adsorption/desorption analysis (BET), thermal analysis (TG/DTG), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques.

  • A simple and clean synthesis of polysubstituted 2,6-dicyanoanilines has been developed via the reaction of arylidenemalonodinitriles with 1-arylethylidenemalonodinitriles in ethanol catalyzed by KF/alumina. Use of non-hazardous solid base as a catalyst, operational simplicity and improved product yields are the key advantages of the present protocol.

  • One-dimensional semiconductor nanowires and nanorods have attracted increasing interest due to their unique physical properties and diversity for potential electronic and photonic device applications., Unlike the conventional nanowires fabricated by metal catalyst-assisted vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) method, we developed metalorganic vapor-phase epitaxial (MOVPE) growth for which no catalyst is needed. The structural and photoluminecent properties will also be discussed. (omitted)

  • Electrochemical promotion of the reaction rate was investigated for CO oxidation in a solid electrolyte catalytic reactor where a thin film of Pt was deposited on the yttria stabilized zirconia as an electrode as well as a catalyst. It was shown under open circuit condition that potential was a mixed potential of $O_2$exchange reaction and electrochemical reaction induced by CO. The effect of electrochemical modification on the CO oxidation rate was studied at various overpotentials and $P_{CO}$$P_{O2}$.

  • The efficiency of heterogeneous catalysts has been investigated in ozonation process for organic removal. Heterogeneous catalytic ozonation was conducted for the degradation of humic acid in the presence of Granular Activated Carbon or Zeolite as a solid catalyst. And the results were compared to those of ozonation alone and adsorption alone without ozonation. The degradation characteristics of humic acid in each process were examined with the values of pH, TOC, $UV_{254}$ and $COD_{Cr}$.

  • Isopropylation of phenol with 2-propanol has been carried out over Na-exchanged ZSM-5 zeolites to determine the effect of catalyst acidity on phenol conversion and product selectivity. The acid type and strength of the catalyst such as Lewis, weak and strong Bronsted acid sites are measured by pyridine adsorbed XPS and the catalytic properties are interpreted in terms of the acid properties. The active site and mechanism for the reaction are suggested based on evidence of study from the reactant adsorbed FT-IR.
