As a photoconductive material with a high X-ray sensitivity, many researches about mercury iodide has been carried out to substitute for amorphous selenium. However, it has many limitations in commercialization because of the high leakage current. In this study, we fabricated $HgI_2$ unit-cells with mixed silicon oxide($SiO_2$) and titanium oxide($TiO_2$) to reduce a high leakage current and we evaluated an electrical properties of the fabricated unit-cells. As a result, we confirmed that both mixtures were effective in reduing the leakage current of the $HgI_2$ and x-ray sensitivity were significantly increased in fabricated $HgI_2-TiO_2$ unit-cell.
The following noble series of statistical copolymers, poly[(2-(3-thienyl)ethanol n-butoxycarbonylmethylurethane)-co-3-hexylthiophene] (PURET-co-P3HT), were synthesized by the chemical dehydrogenation method using anhydrous $FeCl_3$. The structure and electro-optical properties of these copolymers were characterized using $^1H$-NMR, UV-visible spectroscopy, elemental analysis, GPC, DSC, TGA, photoluminescence (PL), and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The statistical copolymers, PURET-co-P3HT (1:0, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3), were soluble in common organic solvents and easily spin coated onto indium-tin oxide (ITO) coated glass substrates. Hybrid bulk heterojunction photovoltaic cells with an ITO/G-PEDOT/PURET-co-P3HT:PCBM:Ag nanowires/$TiO_x$/Al configuration were fabricated, and the photovoltaic cells using PURET-co-P3HT (1:2) showed the best photovoltaic performance compared with those using PURET-co-P3HT (1:0, 2:1, 1:1, 1:3). The optimal hybrid bulk heterojunction photovoltaic cell exhibits a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 1.58% ($V_{oc}$ = 0.82 V, $J_{sc}$ = 5.58, FF = 0.35) with PURET-co-P3HT (1:2) measured by using an AM 1.5 G irradiation (100 mW/$cm^2$) on an Oriel Xenon solar simulator (Oriel 300 W).

$Cu_2SnSe_3$ (CTSe) and $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ (CZTSe) nanoparticles were synthesized by sonochemical reactions under multibubble sonoluminescence (MBSL) conditions. First, $Cu_2SnSe_3$ nanoparticles were synthesized by the sonochemical method with an 85% yield, using CuCl, $SnCl_2$, and Se. Second, ZnSe was coated on the CTSe nanoparticles by the same method. Then, they were transformed into CZTSe nanoparticles of 5-7 nm diameters by heating them at $500^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. The ratios between Zn and Sn could be controlled from 1 to 3.75 by adjusting the relative concentrations of CTSe and ZnSe. With relatively lower Zn:Sn ratios (0.75-1.26), there are mostly CZTSe nanoparticles but they are believed to include very small amount of CTS and ZnSe particles. The prepared nanoparticles show different band gaps from 1.36 to 1.47 eV depending on the Zn/Sn ratios. In this sonochemical method without using any toxic or high temperature solvents, the specific stoichiometric element Zn/Sn ratios in CZTSe were controllable on demand and their experimental results were always reproducible in separate syntheses. The CZTSe nanoparticles were investigated by using X-ray diffractometer, a UV-Vis spectrophotometer, scanning electron microscope, Raman spectroscopy, and a high resolution-transmission electron microscope.

Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC) are the most appropriate for energy source of small robot applications. PEMFC has superior in power density and thermodynamic efficiency as compared with the Direct Methaol Fuel Cell (DMFC). Furthermore, PEMFC has lighter weight and smaller size than DMFC which are very important factors as small robot power system. The most significant factor of mobile robots is weight which relates closely with energy consumption and robot operation. This research tried to find optimum specifications in terms of type, number of cell, active area, cooling method, weight, and size. In order to find optimum 500W PEMFC, six options are designed in this paper and studied to reduce total stack weight by applying new materials and design innovations. However, still remaining problems are thermal management, robot space for energy sources, and so on. For a thermal management, design options need to analysis of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for determining which option has the improved performance and durability.

Phthalocyanine (Pc), porphyrin, subphthalocyanine, and perylene compounds can be applicable to the fields of optical storage media, organic solar cell, LCD, PDP, semiconductor, and counterfeit money detection etc. In this study, phthalocyanine hybrid derivatives were synthesized by cross-linking perylene, subphthalocyanine, or porphyrin to the main frame of Pc. Absorbtion band of two different wavelengths appeared simultaneously in the phthalocyanine hybrid derivatives. Compared to phthalocyanine, the solubility was enhanced and the degree of Q-band shift was changed according to the kind of substitute compounds. The chemical and optical properties of samples were analyzed using FT-IR, $^1H-NMR$, and UV-Vis spectroscopic techniques.
In recent years, titanium dioxide powders were produced as nanoparticles or nanowires or nanotubes in one-dimensional structure, and mesoporous spheres in 3-D to improve their crystallinities, which were further used as photo-electrode materials and for preventing photo-aging. In this study, a nano sol composed of titanium dioxide exhibiting a high crystallinity was synthesized using n-alcohol as a solvent. The crystallinity of the nano sol was confirmed by FE-SEM, and XRD, while the UV blocking rate confirmed by UV-Vis spectrometry results. Changes in the crystallinity were investigated by varying the types of solvents such as butanol, propanol and ethanol. The synthesized particle sizes were from 200 to 250 nm, and the optical transmittance showed a high blocking rate in the UVB and UVA range. It is expected that a high transmittance at 550 nm wavelength can increase the photoelectric conversion efficiency of solar cells and the UV blocking efficiency.
CdS thin films for window material of solar cell were prepared by close spaced vapor transport deposition system and annealed at different temperatures. The structural, electrical, and optical properties of as-deposited and annealed CdS films were investigated as functions of substrate and annealing temperatures. The CdS thin films were grown perpendicularly to the substrate along the (002)plane with hexagonal structure regardless of the preparation conditions The resistivity of the CdS film deposited was increased gradually from $60{\Omega}cm$ for $25^{\circ}C$ to $2{\times}10^{4}{\Omega}cm$ for $300^{\circ}C$. The optical transmittance at the substrate temperature of $25^{\circ}C$ was about 80% in the the visible spectrum. The resistivity increased monotonically, and the optical transmittance was decreased substantially with annealing temperature due to the increased defect density in the CdS film.
The study of pores, small penumbraless sunspots, can give us a chance to understand how strong magnetic fields interact with convective motions in the photosphere. For a better understanding of this interaction, we investigate the temporal variation of several tiny pores smaller than 2". These pores were observed by the Solar Optical Telescope (SOT) onboard Hinode on 2006 December 29. We have analyzed the high resolution spectropolarimetric (SP) data and the G-band filtergrams taken during the observation. Magnetic flux density and Doppler velocities of the pores are estimated by applying the center of gravity (COG) method to the SP data. The horizontal motions in and around the pores are tracked by adopting the Nonlinear Affine Velocity Estimator (NAVE) method to the G-band filter images. As results, we found the followings. (1) Darkness of pores is positively correlated with magnetic flux density. (2) Downflows always exist inside and around the pores. (3) The speed of downflows inside the pores is negatively correlated with their darkness. (4) The pores are surrounded by strong downflows. (5) Brightness changes of the pores are correlated with the divergence of mass flow (correlation coefficient > 0.9). (6) The pores in the growing phase are associated with the converging flow pattern and the pores in the decay phase with the diverging flow pattern. Our results support the idea that a pore grows as magnetic flux density increases due to the convergence of ambient mass flow and it decays with the decrease of the flux density due to the diverging mass flow.

Recently, due to the excessive use of fossil fuels, many studies about the fossil fuels such as solar and fuel cell energy source are progressing. Fuel cell system has high energy conversion efficiency. Also, fuel cell system is environmentally friendly system because the carbon emission is almost not occur. Therefore, the fuel cell system is considered as the core technology of in the fields of the future energy and environmental. Fuel cell system has an effect on distribution power system because another power source of other than large power plants. So, fuel cell system can be reason of power quality in the power system. In this paper, we constructed the system for an assessment on Islanding. The system is composed with power source, Impedance coordination load and linear load, fuel cell system. we are performed assessment on voltage and power quality in customer and the distributed power system during the Islanding of residential fuel cell system. In addition, no change in the impedance of power system, we made a islanding condition only using the actual load, As a variation of generation and load current under islanding, an analysis results based on assessment system showed that the power qualities of distribution system became more aggravation as effect of voltage sag and voltage swell phenomena.

This paper describes some computational results of various energy and environmental systems using Patankar's SIMPLE method. The specific topics handled in this study are jet bubbling reactor for flue gas desulfurization, cyclone-type afterburner for incineration, 200m tall stack for 500 MW electric power generation, double skin and heat storage systems of building energy saving for the utilization of solar heating, finally turbulent combustion systems with liquid droplet or pulverized coal particle. A control-volume based finite-difference method with the power-law scheme is employed for discretization. The pressure-velocity coupling is resolved by the use of the revised version of SIMPLE, that is, SIMPLEC. Reynolds stresses are closed using the standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ and RNG $k-{\varepsilon}$ models. Two-phase turbulent combustion of liquid drop or pulverized coal particle is modeled using locally-homogeneous, gas-phase, eddy breakup model. However simple approximate models are incorporated for the modeling of the second phase slip and retardation of ignition without consideration of any detailed particle behavior. Some important results are presented and discussed in a brief note. Especially, in order to make uniform exit flow for the jet bubbling reactor, a well-designed structure of distributor is needed. Further, the aspect ratio in the double skin system appears to be one of important factors to give rise to the visible change of the induced air flow rate. The computational tool employed in this study, in general, appears as a viable method for the design of various engineering system of interest.
