The worldwide research and development for high-efficiency power generation system is progressing steadily because of the growing demand for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Many countries have spurred the research and development of supercritical $CO_2$ power generation technology since 2000 because it has the advantage of compactness, efficiency, and diversity. Supercritical $CO_2$ power generation system can be classified into an indirect heating type and a direct heating type. As of now, most studies have concentrated on the development of indirect type supercritical $CO_2$ power generation system. In the United States, NREL(National Renewable Energy Lab.) is developing supercritical $CO_2$ power generation system for Concentrating Solar Power. In addition, U.S. DOE(Department of Energy) also plans to start investing in the development of the supercritical $CO_2$ power generation system for coal-fired thermal power plant this year. GE is developing not only 10MW supercritical $CO_2$ power generation turbomachinery but also the conceptual design of 50MW and 450MW supercritical $CO_2$ power generation turbomachinery. In Korea, the Korean Atomic Energy Research Institute has constructed the supercritical $CO_2$ power generation test facility. Moreover, KEPRI(Korea Electric Power Research Institute) is developing a 2MW-class supercritical $CO_2$ power generation system using diesel and gas engine waste heat with Hyundai Heavy Industries.

Micro features on the surface are well-known to have significant effects on optical or mechanical properties such as the optical interference, reflectance at the surface, contact angle, interfacial friction, etc. These surface micro features are increasingly employed to enhance the functionality of the applications in various application areas such as optical components for LCD or solar panel. Diverse surface features have been proposed and some of them are showing excellent efficiency or functionality, especially in optical applications. Most applications employing the micro features need manufacturing process for mass production and the injection molding and roll-to-roll forming, which are typical processes for mass production adopting polymeric materials, may be also preferred for micro patterned plastic product. Since the functionality or efficiency of the surface structures generally depends on the shape and the size of the structure itself or the array of the structures on the surface, it would be very important to replicate the features very precisely as being designed during the molding the micro pattern applications. In this paper, a series of research activities is introduced for roll-to-roll forming of micro patterned film including filling of patterns with UV curable resin, demolding of surface structures from the roll tool, control of surface energy and cure shrinkage of resin and dispose time and intensity of the UV light for curing of UV curable resin.
A field experiment was conducted to study seasonal evapotranspiration above soybean canopy and its relationship with dry matter production by the Bowen ratio-energy balance method. The soybean "Paldalkong" was sown with the space of $47{\times}10cm$ at Suwon on May 27, 1988. The daily net radiation ranged from 59 to 76 percents of the total shortwave radiation under cloudless conditions, which was lower than cloud overcast condition with recorded 63 to 83 percents. The latent heat flux under overcast condition was sometimes larger than the sum of net radiation, implying transportation of energy by advection of ambient air. The linear relationship was obtained between daily or daytime net radiation and evapotranspiration. The evapotranspiration calculated by Bowen ratio-energy balance method was about 150 percent of class A pan evaporation during the growing season. The total solar radiation from June 20 to August 27 was $1043MJm^{-2}$. The 85 percent of the total shortwave radiation was used for evaporative heat. The dry matter production within the period was $836gm^{-2}$ and the water use efficiency was $2.31gDM\;kg^{-1}\;H_2O$.

Recently, the installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems has been increasing due to the worldwide interest in eco-friendly and infinitely abundant solar energy. However, the output power of PV systems is highly influenced by the surrounding environment. For instance, a string of PV systems composed of modules in series may become inoperable under cloudy conditions or when in the shade of a building. In other words, under these conditions, the existing control method of PV systems does not allow the string to be operated in the normal way, because its output voltage is lower than the operating range of the grid connected inverter. In order to overcome this problem, we propose a new control method using a DC-DC voltage regulator which can compensate for the voltage of each string in the PV system. Also, based on the PSIM S/W, we model the DC-DC voltage regulator with constant voltage control & MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) control functions and 3-Phase grid connected inverter with PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) control function. From the simulation results, it is confirmed that the present control method can improve the operating efficiency of PV systems by compensating for the fluctuation of the voltage of the strings caused by the surrounding conditions.

A newly devised dryer with heated air for the farm products, especially suited for high water content materials such as red pepper, Beer ground, each Vegetables, and Low water content materials such as Rough rice was tested for its thermal efficiency and drying mechanism, and the optimum conditions for each sample were established. In order to improve the present rural situation of drying farm products which entirely dependent upon natural solar radiation, a study upon an economic multi-parpose dryer was conducted. A series of drying tests were run first with red pepper which is one of the important cash crop in Korean farm. And successive series of tests were also run with such proaucts as garlic, sweet potatoes, green onion, radish, Beer ground and Rough rice. The results from the above experiment in drying system with heat dryer can be summarized as follows. 1. Drying duration could be shortened by the tempering effect in high water content crop such as red pepper and beer ground. 2. The color changes occured in around 20% water content in red pepper. The degree of color change was heavily affected by high temperature and short drying duration. 3. The drying condition of red pepper was most favourable at the temperature of 85$^{\circ}C$ in early stage and 80$^{\circ}C$ in middle stage and 75$^{\circ}C$ at the final stage, and with the air rate of 0.81㎥/sec and with sample amount of 200kg. 4. The drying condition of Rough rice(I.R.667) was most favourable at the templature of 40$^{\circ}C$ in early stage and 35$^{\circ}C$ in middle stage and final stage and with the air rate of 0.2㎥/sec and with sample amount of 75kg. 5. In order to prevent the color change of red pepper and to assure high efficiency in drying mechanism, it was necessary to lower the temperature as the time passes in drying process. 6. For vege tables, the drying rate were short in early stage and there was also tempering effect. However, for garlics, Constant drying rates through the early and final stages were observed and there were no tempering effects. 7. Due to the recent increase in lighting energy consumption in buildings, there are a growing number of studies seeking solutions this problem. The effectiveness of light-shelves as natural lighting systems to solve this problem has been recognized, and various studies regarding such systems are being carried out currently. However, the lighting efficiency of light-shelves decreases if illumination intensity is low-such as at night time, and it also obstructs the views of building occupants. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine a movable drawer type light-shelf which allows for the width of the reflector to be adjusted and verify its performance through a simulated test-bed. The following conclusions were reached. 1) The purpose of this study is to solve the problem previously associated with the light-shelf system- of obstructed views-by responding to external environments and minimizing the width of the light-shelf at night time when the efficiency of the light-shelf declines. 2) The proper variables of the movable drawer type light-shelf which enables the width adjustment of the reflector were ascertained in this study according to four solar terms : a width of 0.6 m at an angle of $20^{\circ}$, a width of 0.4m with an angle of $20^{\circ}$, and a width of 0.1 m with an angle of $20^{\circ}$ were determined for the summer solstice, fall/spring equinoxes, and winter solstice respectively; revealing that width adjustment of the light-shelf is a significant factor. 3) The movable drawer type light-shelf which enables${\backslash}$width adjustment of the reflector suggested in this study can reduce the lighting energy consumption by 18.7% and 14.3% in comparison to previous light-shelves with a fixed width of 0.3 m and 0.6m, indicating that it is effective for saving energy.

Government has recently restricted heating and cooling set temperatures for the commercial and public buildings due to increasing national energy consumption. The goal of this paper is to visualize a future two way indoor set temperature control impact on building energy consumption by using TRNSYS simulation modeling. The building was modelled based on the twin test cell with the same dimension. Air source ground coupled heat pump performance data has been used for modeling by TRNSYS 17. Daejeon weather data has been used from Korea Solar Energy Society. The heating set temperature in the reference room is $24^{\circ}C$ as well as the target room set temperature are $23^{\circ}C$, $22^{\circ}C$, $21^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$. The cooling set temperature of the reference room is also $24^{\circ}C$ as well as the target room set temperature of $25^{\circ}C$, $26^{\circ}C$, $27^{\circ}C$ and $28^{\circ}C$. For the air source heat pump system, heating season energy consumption is $35.52kWh/m^2y$ in the reference room. But the heating energy consumption in the target room is reduced to 7.5% whenever the set temperature decreased every $1^{\circ}C$. The cooling energy consumption in the reference room is $4.57kWh/m^2y$. On the other hand, the energy consumption in the target room is reduced to 22% whenever the set temperature increased every $1^{\circ}C$ by two way controller. For the geothermal heat pump system, heating energy consumption in the reference room is reduced to 20.7%. The target room heating energy consumption is reduced to 32.6% when the set temperature is $22^{\circ}C$. The energy consumption in the target room is reduced to 59.5% when the set temperature is $26^{\circ}C$.

The aging and declining agricultural population in the modern society requires improvement of the agricultural environment and is one of the representative problems. And since most of the work systems always require a transport work, the ratio of labor consumed in the transport work is very high. Accordingly, many types of transport vehicles are being developed and sold, and in the early days, most of them are powered transport vehicles using fossil fuels. However, it is paying attention to next-generation eco-friendly energy such as hydrogen, fuel cells, solar power, and bio due to the strengthening of international environmental regulations such as global warming and the Convention on Climate Change and the depletion of fossil fuels. Therefore, in this study, the ultimate goal is to develop an eco-friendly, easy-to-operate, safe agricultural electric vehicle that replaces fossil fuels. It was designed with a focus on controlling a wide range of vehicle speeds and securing stability of electric agricultural vehicles. Considering the performance and design, it is composed of a frame, a driving part, a steering part, and a controller system, and we are going to review and manufacture each part. It is believed that the manufactured electric vehicle for agriculture can be easily and conveniently operated in an agricultural society where young manpower is scarce, and can be helpful to the agricultural society through high efficiency.

The wastewater treatment by photocatalyst decomposes pollutants directly in water, and it is easy to decompose indecomposable organics and inorganic. and Especially, it has an advantage that there is no secondary production of pollutants. However, there will be many problems which are generated depending on the type of photocatalyst. The type of rotating photocatalyst minimizes previous problems, and advanced oxidation processes is possible by the application of rotating disc method. The consideration of the characteristics about various designs and operation factors is needed for the application of rotating photocatalyst system. In this study, rotating photocatalyst was manufactured for rotating disc method by fixing of $TiO_2$. The operation factors were derived for the wastewater treatment by the reaction of rotating photocatalyst. The contained quantity of $TiO_2$ was limited about 70%. The more the contained quantity of $TiO_2$ was increased, the more the treatment rate was continually increased. The optimum rotating photocatalyst was R4, and the contained quantity of $TiO_2$ was 36.8%. The more the exposed amount of UV is increased, the more the decomposition effect of TCODcr was continually increased. However, the adequate strength of light source must be determined by the consideration of economical efficiency. The more the speed of rotating photocatalyst is increased, the more treatment efficiency was increased. When UV lamp was not submerged in reactor, the wastewater treatment was efficient in the order of the depth of water 50%, 30%, 10%, 70%, 100%. This study is a basic research for the development of a system which treats organics in solar light.
Variable renewable energy (VRE) such as solar and wind power is the main sources of achieving carbon net zero, but it undermines the stability of power supply due to high variability and uncertainty. Energy storage system (ESS) can not only reduce the curtailment of VRE by load shifting but also contribute to stable power system operation by providing ancillary services. This study analyzes how the allocation of ESS resources between load shifting and ancillary service can contribute to maximizing the efficiency of power supply in a situation where the problems caused by VRE are becoming more and more serious. A stochastic power system optimization model that can realistically simulate the variability and uncertainty of VRE was applied. The analysis time point was set to 2023 and 2036, and the optimal resource allocation strategy and benefits of ESS by varying VRE penetration levels were analyzed. The analysis results can be largely summarized into the following three. First, ESS provides excellent functions for both load shifting and ancillary service, and it was confirmed that the higher the reserve price, the more limited the load shifting and focused on providing reserve. Second, the curtailment of VRE can be a effective substitute for the required reserve, and the higher the reserve price level, the higher the curtailment of VRE and the lower the required amount of reserve. Third, if a reasonable reserve offer price reflecting the opportunity cost is applied, ESS can secure economic feasibility in the near future, and the higher the proportion of VRE, the greater the economic feasibility of ESS. This study suggests that cost-effective low-carbon transition in the power system is possible when the price signal is correctly designed so that power supply resources can be efficiently utilized.
