Solar Thermal-Electric Integrated system can be used to generate heat and electricity simultaneously and can improve indoor all qualify. So, it can save heating and electricity cost as it operates at relatively lower temperatures. In this study, one pv module was fixed on a normal wall and a pv module was mounted on a solarwall. And a ventilation fan in the solar energy cogeneration panel was operated from 12:00 to 17:00 hours. Experimental results are recorded and anaysized. The comparison of results show that the temperature of PV on solar energy cogeneration panel was decreased by $7{\sim}9^{\circ}C$ and the electrical output was improved by $2{\sim}3W$ compared with a PV system without solarwall.
This study compared the feasibility of utilizing a wood bioenergy system over a conventional central heating and cooling system and a cogeneration system in an apartment complex. The performance of the three systems were compared in the following areas: energy consumption, environmental impact(output of CO2, CH4, and N2O), and life cycle cost. The results showed that energy performance of the wood bioenergy system was similar to the conventional central system (just a 1% improvement) but the cogeneration system showed a 12% reduction in energy consumption compared to the conventional system. In terms of environmental impact, the bioenergy system reduced pollutants by 50% while the cogeneration system reduced pollutants by 30% compared to the conventional system. Life cycle cost analysis indicated bioenergy and cogeneration to have an 8% and 19% improvement over the conventional system. The findings of the study suggest that it is both economically and environmentally beneficial to use a wood bioenergy system in place of a conventional central heating and cooling system in apartment complexes.
An energy generating greenhouse based on fluoropolymer envelope and fresnel lens is proposed. The outstanding properties of the fluoropolymer films make them very suitable for large scale solar applications. Extremely high optical transmission over the whole solar spectrum, combined with mechanical strength, and durability allows us to design a highly optimized greenhouses for both plant growing and energy generation. Systems such as photovoltaic triple junction cells are especially attractive since they have up to 35% efficiency with much less cell material when the sun beam is focused with concentrators such as fresnel lenses. Cooling such devices will enhance the efficiency and provide useful thermal energy that could be further utilized for various applications depending on the local demands. This article introduces the basic ideas and principles of the energy generating greenhouses as a first step towards the actual deployment of such systems under Korean environment.
Feasibilities of the application of a micro gas turbine cogeneration system to a large size hospital building are studied by estimating energy demands and supplies. The energy demand for electricity is estimated by surveying and sorting the consumption records for various equipment and devices. The cooling heating, and hot water demands are further refined with TRNSYS and ESP-r to generate load profiles for the subsequent operation simulations. The operation of the suggested cogeneration system in conjunction with the load data is simulated for a time span of a year to predict energy consumption and gain profile. The simulation revealed that the thermal efficiency of the gas turbine is about 30% and it supplies 60% of the electricity required by the building. The recovered heat can meet 56% of total heating load and 67% of cooling, and the combined efficiency reaches up to 70%.
In this study a novel cogeneration system driven by low-temperature sources at a temperature level below $190^{\circ}C$ is investigated by first and second laws of thermodynamics. The system consists of Organic Rankine Cycle(ORC) and an additional heat generation as a parallel circuit. Seven working fluids of R143a, R22, R134a, R152a, $iC_4H_{10}$(isobutane), $C_4H_{10}$(butane), and R123a are considered in this work. Maximum mass flow rate of a working fluid relative to that of the source fluid and optimum turbine inlet pressure are considered to extract maximum power from the source. Results show that due to a combined heat and power generation, both the efficiencies by first and second laws can be significantly increased in comparison to a power generation, however, the second law efficiency is more resonable in the investigation of cogeneration systems. Results also show that the working fluid for the maximum system efficiency depends on the source temperature.

This study analyzed the central heating system and the cogeneration system among the methods of supplying energy which have application to the Hydrogen Fuel Cell system and apartment complexes for performance evaluations. Therefore, a feasibility study on the first application of this system in an apartment complexes was considered to evaluate the energy performance by the amount of fuel consumed by the system using Hydrogen Fuel Cell energy and environmental performance by the amount of greenhouse gas emissions. As a result, the Hydrogen Fuel Cell system consumes 83% of fuel while the cogeneration system consumes 81% of fuel comparison to conventional central heating system. The Hydrogen Fuel Cell and the cogeneration system produce 73%t and 70% of greenhouse gas emissions in comparison to conventional central heating system.

Solar hot water system produces hot water using solar energy. If it is not used effectively, overheating occurs during the summer. Therefore, a lot of research is being done to solve this. This study develops thermoelectric power module applicable to solar hot water system. A thermoelectric material can directly convert thermal energy into electrical energy without additional power generation devices. If there is a temperature difference between high and low temperature, it generate power by Seebeck effect. The thermoelectric module generates electricity using temperature differences through the heat exchange of hot and cold water. The water used for cooling is heated and stored as hot water as it passes through the module. It can prevent overheating of Solar hot water system while producing power. The thermoelectric module consists of one absorption and two radiation part. There path is designed in the form of a water jacket. As a result, a temperature of the absorption part was $134.2^{\circ}C$ and the radiation part was $48.6^{\circ}C$. The temperature difference between the absorption and radiation was $85.6^{\circ}C$. Also, The Thermoelectric module produced about 122 W of irradiation at $708W/m^2$. At this time, power generation efficiency was 2.62% and hot water conversion efficiency was 62.46%.
The tendency to renewables is one of the consequences of changing attitudes towards energy issues. As a result, solar energy, which is the leader among renewable energies based on availability and potential, plays a crucial role in full filing global needs. Significant problems with the solar thermal power plants (STPP) are the operation time, which is limited by daylight and is approximately half of the power plants with fossil fuels, and the capital cost. Exergy analysis survey of STPP hybrid with PCM storage carried out using Engineering Equation Solver (EES) program with genetic algorithm (GA) for three different scenarios, based on eight decision variables, which led us to decrease final product cost (electricity) in optimized scenario up to 30% compare to base case scenario from 28.99 $/kWh to 20.27 $/kWh for the case study. Also, in the optimal third scenario of this plant, the inner carbon dioxide gas cycle produces 1200 kW power with a thermal efficiency of 59% and also 1000 m3/h water with an exergy efficiency of 23.4% and 79.70 kg/h with an overall exergy efficiency of 34% is produced in the tetrageneration plant.
A Microsoft $Access^{(R)}$ application that estimates hourly building energy load is developed based on statistical field measurements. Hourly patterns of heating, hot water, cooling, and electricity loads are evaluated for an energy consuming community composed of various types of buildings. Popular building types such as apartments, offices, hotels and accomodations, stores, churches, schools and educational institutes are included in the model. For each type of buildings, hourly patterns for a month are measured and compiled to derive a 24-hour load distributions. Daily sum of heating, hot water, cooling, and electricity loads are also measured for the building types. The annual energy need profiles are generated by combining the 24-hour distribution and 365-day consumption patterns. The annual maximum values of the 8760 hours of a year for each load type serves as a guide for selecting a device capacity. A user-friendly interface that ushers users throughout the whole process is provided.
Desiccant based air conditioning system offers a promising alternative to conventional one using vapour compression refrigeration for energy saving and greenhouse gas reduction. It is a heat driven cycle which has high potential for the use of low grade heat source such as the waste heat from the cogeneration plant or the solar thermal energy. In this study, the cooling performance of a desiccant cooling system incorporating a regenerative evaporative cooler was characterized in various operation conditions through numerical simulation. The cooling capacity and COP were evaluated at various outdoor conditions, regeneration temperatures, and supply flow rates. Based on the performance characteristics, the optimal control scheme was discussed to minimize the cooling cost at part load condition.
