테스트 프로세스 개선모델을 통한 테스트 성숙도 모델 (Test Maturity Model) 확장에 관한 연구 (A Study of Enhanced Test Maturity Model with Test Process Improvement)

  • 소프트웨어 산업의 발전에 따라 소프트웨어 개발조직에서는 소프트웨어 품질이 중요한 이슈로 부각되었다. 특히 여러 종류의 테스트 성숙도 모델을 통해 조직의 소프트웨어 테스트 성숙도 향상에 대해 다양한 방면으로 시도하고 있다. 하지만 현재 테스트 성숙도를 측정할 수 있는 모델들은 기존의 개발 성숙도 측정 모델을 기반으로 개발하여 테스트 부분에 대한 언급이 부족하고 단지 테스트 성숙도 레벨만을 측정하였다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 소프트웨어 개발프로세스와 한께 테스트 프로세스를 수행할 수 있도록 이중 V모델과 테스트 성숙도의 용이한 평가를 위한 테스트 평가 속성과 레벨을 정의한 테스트 속성과 상호관련 매트릭스를 제안하였다. 테스트 프로세스 개선(Test Process Improvement: TPI)의 개선제안(Improvement Suggestion) 방법을 통해 테스트 성숙도 모델 확장하고, 측정된 성숙도를 향상시킬 수 있는 개선방향을 제시한다. 또한, 본 연구에서 제안하는 테스트 성숙도 상호관련 매트릭스는 테스트 성숙도를 정량적으로 평가하기 위해 사용하였다. 결과적으로는 확장된 테스트 성숙도 모델을 통해 조직의 테스트 성숙도를 높이는데 기여 할 수 있으리라 생각한다.

Improvement of the Automobile Control Software Testing Process Using a Test Maturity Model

  • The problem surrounding methods of implementing the software testing process has come under the spotlight in recent times. However, as compliance with the software testing process does not necessarily bring with it immediate economic benefits, IT companies need to pursue more aggressive efforts to improve the process, and the software industry needs to makes every effort to improve the software testing process by evaluating the Test Maturity Model integration (TMMi). Furthermore, as the software test process is only at the initial level, high-quality software cannot be guaranteed. This paper applies TMMi model to Automobile control software testing process, including test policy and strategy, test planning, test monitoring and control, test design and execution, and test environment goal. The results suggest improvement of the automobile control software testing process based on Test maturity model. As a result, this study suggest IT organization's test process improve method.

SW프로세스 성숙 수준이 기업성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증연구 (Empirical Validation of Software Process Maturity on Organizational Performance)

  • Recently, increasing attention has been paid to building a successful software process in Information System(IS) implementation. This study establishes software process model as a key predictor of organizational performance. We propose a theoretical framework for capability maturity model derived from the Software Engineering Institute(SEI). This paper identify the process-related variables, financial performance and non-financial performance from the relevant literature and clarify the concept of software process by distinguishing between its component and determinants. We then examine the impact of software process on organizational performance. Hypotheses on software process were tested for 36 enterprises including 118 organizational units. Results indicate that software process capability may serve as a key predictor of organizational performance. Software process maturity found to be positively influenced on the financial and non-financial performance, while investment of information technology as a mediating variable not significantly affected to the performance.

  • 소프트웨어 아키텍처는 소프트웨어 집중적인 시스템의 가장 주요한 부분으로, 아키텍처 평가는 시스템에서 매우 중요한 과정이고 소프트웨어 재앙을 예방할 수 있는 가장 저렴한 방법이다. 본 논문은 성숙모델을 통하여 아키텍처를 평가하는 새로운 방법을 소개한다. 기존의 성숙모델들은 소프트웨어나 소프트웨어 프로세스에 관한 것으로 지금까지 빠른 속도로 발전되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 기법들을 소프트웨어 아키텍처에 적용한 SAMM(Software Architecture Maturity appraisal Model)을 제안한다. SAMM은 여섯 등급으로 구성되어 있다 제안한 성숙 모델 SAMM은 시스템 개선을 관리하는 발전된 아키텍처를 구성하고 소프트웨어 아키텍처 설계를 개선하기 위해 필수적으로 요구되는 아키텍처 요구사항들을 명세한다. 또한, 아키텍처 설계를 위한 노력을 줄이고, 질 높은 아키텍처를 구성할 수 있는 지침을 마련해주며, 아키텍처를 평가하여 등급을 매긴다.

SW프로세스능력에 관한 현황과 기업성과에 관한 연구 (An Empirical Research for the Software Process Capability and Organizational Performance in Korea)

  • Recently, increasing attention has been paid to building the software quality and software productivity due to ongoing software crisis. To overcome such problem, one of the many alternatives is to use the capability maturity model (CMM) suggested by the Software Engineering Institute(SEI), focusing on the improvement of software progress. This research is proposed the theoretical framework for CMM based on the previous studies, and review the status of software process on the software development organization. We then examine the impact of the software process capability on the organizational performance including financial measures and non-financial measures. Hypotheses on software process capability were tested 144 organizational units. The 62.5% of foreign companies are distribute to the second and third level, the Korean firms in this study are indicated the first level. Result indicate that maturity of software process may be served the key predictor of organizational performance, in particular the positive relationship between the software process and non-financial performance index such as customer service, IT Infrastructure, marketing, supplier and purchaser, production and operation.

조직성숙도와 조직성과 간의 소프트웨어 정책의 효과분석 (The Moderating Effects of Software Policy between Organizational Capability Maturity and Organizational Performance)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how software policy shows the moderating effects between organizational capability maturity and organizational performance. The software policy includes the proportions of development personnel and development budget that can affect organizational performance. It is important to empirically identify whether the ratios of budget and personnel, which are some of the main policy indexes of the organization can promote the causal relationship between organizational maturity and organizational performance. These personnel and budget may be assumed to affect the causal relationship between organizational capability maturity and organizational performance. The results of this study shows that the moderating effects of software policy are partially proved. The two policy indexes, personnel ratio and budget ratio, showed a moderating effect between process implementation and organizational performance, but did not show any moderating effect between quantitative management and organizational performance. This is because the companies participating in the survey are still in the early stages of quantitative process management and quantitative management does not show the differentiated results among the participating organizations. The significance of this study is as follows. In the academic aspect, the causal relationship between organizational maturity and organizational performance was examined empirically, and it was analyzed whether the two adopted policy indicators have a moderating effect between organizational maturity and organizational performance. On the practical side, the analysis suggested that the ratios of budget and personnel emphasized by the government or organization played a role of facilitating the organizational maturity and organizational performance.

Towards Enacting a SPEM-based Test Process with Maturity Levels

  • Effective monitoring and testing during each step are essential for document verification in research and development (R&D) projects. In software development, proper testing is required to verify it carefully and constantly because of the invisibility features of software. However, not enough studies on test processes for R&D projects have been done. Thus, in this paper, we introduce a Test Maturity Model integration (TMMi)-based software field R&D test process that offers five integrity levels and makes the process compatible for different types of projects. The Software & Systems Process Engineering Metamodel (SPEM) is used widely in the software process-modeling context, but it lacks built-in enactment capabilities, so there is no tool or process engine that enables one to execute the process models described in SPEM. Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN)-based workflow engines can be a solution for process execution, but process models described in SPEM need to be converted to BPMN models. Thus, we propose an approach to support enactment of SPEM-based process models by converting them into business processes. We show the effectiveness of our approach through converting software R&D test processes specified in SPEM in a case study.

국방 소프트웨어의 시험 프로세스 개선을 위한 국방 시험 성숙도 모델 (MND-TMM for Testing Process Improvements of Defense Software)

  • 국방 분야의 소프트웨어는 해당 도메인의 특성상 높은 수준의 품질을 요한다. 이를 보장하기 위해서는 잘 정의된 프로세스를 기반으로 하는 개발 및 시험 활동들이 이루어져야 한다. 소프트웨어 획득 과정에서 이들 활동들이 뒷받침되지 못하면 획득된 소프트웨어의 품질이 낮고, 군의 전투력이 저하된다. 본 논문에서는 시험 프로세스 개선을 통해 국방 소프트웨어의 품질을 향상하기 위한 국방 시험 성숙도 모델(MND-TMM: Ministry of National Defense-Testing Maturity Model)을 제안하고 설계된 내용을 소개한다. MND-TMM은 국방 도메인에서 시험과 관련된 문제점을 해결하기 위해 국방 소프트웨어, 국방 소프트웨어 개발 프로세스, 국방 소프트웨어 시험 프로세스를 반영하여 구성되었다. MND-TMM은 5개의 수준의 성숙도와 4개의 범주로 구성되며 각 범주에는 관련 시험 프로세스 영역(TPA: Testing Process Area)들이 포함된다. MND-TMM은 국방 소프트웨어 조직의 시험 성숙도를 평가하는 것을 돕고 소프트웨어 테스팅 프로세스를 개선하기 위한 가이드라인을 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

  • Software Process Improvement(SPI) has been a challenging issue to software organizations. The factors affecting SPI were analysed for improving software development processes. Numerous studies suggested influencing factors, and assessment models were utilized for software improvement. This research suggested that SPI factors affecting on an organizational performance may vary according to the CMM(Capability Maturity Model) level. The moderating effects of organizational maturity level between the SPI factors and the organizational performance were empirically tested. This research found that all six SPI factors except for the resistance to change affected the organizational performance. The moderating effects of management support, goal alliances, participation, and effect analyses were empirically supported. These results can provide several implications or a practical guidance to academic and industry professionals.

  • SPI (Software Process Improvement) activities have been considered one of the crucial approaches to achieve high quality, productivity and timely delivery of software products and services. The basic premise of SPI model is that higher maturity levels lead to better performance. In this research, the relationships between SPI results and performance were empirically investigated with Korean software companies. CMM key process areas were categorized into two dimensions, "Process Implementation" and "Quantitative Management". The relationship between process implementation and performance was significant, but the relationship between quantitative management and performance was insignificant. The control variable, size of OU(Organizational Unit), did not have significant impact on the relationships between SPI activities and OU performance.
