  • The technology of Software Defined Radio (SDR) is a possible solution to interwork flexibly between various wireless transport protocols. Ubiquitous network, like u-health service network, includes sensor devices or nodes which do not facilitate all the same transport protocols to access network. As such this may be in such unreachable situations as poverty of all required AP (Access Point)’s, faults or contention in a path of particular protocol communication, etc. This paper presents research results of modeling and simulation to analyze transport performance of multi-protocol ubiquitous network which includes SDR-based interwork nodes and congestion-controlled AP’s. Focusing mainly on dynamics of overall transport performance rather than protocol execution procedures, this paper employs the Zeigler’s DEVS (Discrete Event Systems Specification) methodology and DEVSim++simulation environment to experiment.

  • SDR(Software Defined Radio) 시스템의 발전으로 단말기와 기지국 장비의 교체 없이 서로 다른 표준안을 요구하는 서비스에 대해서 해당 컴포넌트들을 다운로드하고 동적으로 시스템을 재구성하여 해당 서비스에 맞는 시스템을 구성할 수 있다. SDR 시스템의 기본 기능에는 사용하고자 하는 컴포넌트를 여러 가지 방법에 따라 다운로드하는 것이 포함 될 수 있다. 다운로드 할 필요가 있는 컴포넌트는 크게 상용과 공개용으로 나눠 볼 수 있는데 기본적으로 안티­바이러스 패치나 해당 사업자의 중요한 소프트웨어 패치 등의 공개용 컴포넌트를 효율적으로 다운로드 하여 재구성하는 방안이 우선적으로 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 OTA(Over The Air)를 통해 다운로드 하고자 하는 경우를 중심으로. Server/Client 모델의 일 대 일 방식의 다운로드 방식보다 네트워크 자원 및 트래픽의 효율적인 사용을 위해 Ad hoc 모델을 이용하여 다운로드하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다.

  • This paper implements 2X2 MIMO Long Term Evolution (LTE) base station using Software defined radio (SDR) technology. The implemented base station system processes baseband signals on a Graphics Processor Unit(GPU). GPU is a high-speed parallel processor which provides very important advantage of using a very powerful C-based programming environment that is Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA). The implemented software-based base station system processes baseband signals through GPU. It utilizes USRP2 as its RF transceiver. In order to guarantee a real-time processing of LTE baseband signals, we have adopted well-known signal processing algorithms such as frame synchronization algorithms, ML detection, etc. using GPU operating in parallel processing.

  • A handover is a technology that enables data transmission and receipt seamlessly while a mobile station moves from the current base station to another base station. The handover is basically classified into two types; a horizontal handover which changes a radio link only without changing a network link, and a vertical handover which changes both in heterogeneous networks. In this paper, we propose a vertical handover protocol in a dual base station which supports both of W-CDMA and WiBro networks based on SDR (Software Defined Radio), verify the rightness using a state transition diagram and a Petri-net, and evaluate the performance of the proposed protocol using NS-2 simulator.

  • In this paper, a fully reconfigurable Software Defined Radio (SDR) for multi-constellation and multi-frequency Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers is presented. The reconfigurability with respect to the data structure, variability of signal and receiver parameters, and receiver's internal functionality is presented. The configuration file, that is modified to lead to an entirely different operation of the SDR in response to specific target signal scenarios, directly determines the operating characteristics of the SDR. In this manner, receiver designers can effectively reduce the effort to develop many different combinations of multi-constellation and/or multi-frequency GNSS receivers. Finally, the implementation of the presented fully reconfigurable SDR is included with the experimental processing results such as acquisition, tracking, navigation for the received signals in the realistic fields.

  • 본 논문에서는 SDR(Software Defined Radio)을 기반으로 한 단말기의 핵심 요소인 재구성형 단말 모뎀 기술에 대해 살펴 본다. 재구성형 단말 모뎀은 적용 목적에 따라서 다양한 요구사항을 가지며, 전면적인 SDR 개념의 도입에는 상당한 시간이 요구될 것으로 보이는 반면, 재구성형 단말 모뎀 분야에서는 최근 다양한 솔루션들이 등장하면서 상용화 가능성이 높아지고 있다. 특히 제조업체 관점에서는 새로운 시스템에 대한 개발 기간과 비용의 절감, 그리고 사업자 관점에서는 새로운 서비스의 빠른 망 적용 및 다양한 망 형상 전개 용이성 등의 장점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 재구성형 단말 모뎀의 개발 동향 및 발전 방향을 살펴보고, 재구성형 모뎀 솔루션을 적용한 개발 사례를 소개한다.

Implementation and Performance Analysis of a Digital IF Transceiver for an SDR-based Reconfigurable Base Station

  • This paper presents the implementation and performance test of a Digital IF transceiver for a SDR-based mobile communication base station. The transceiver is reconfigurable to HSDPA and to three profiles, 7 MHz, 3.5 MHz, and 1.75 MHz, each incorporating the IEEE 802.16d WiMAX standard. The transceiver can be reconfigured to other standard profiles through software downloaded onto identical hardware platforms. Experimental results show that the transceiver can be reconfigured to other systems and the performance of the transceiver satisfies the recommended performance criteria of each standard.

  • DDC(Digital Down Converter) is a conversion technology to decimate to a lower sampling rate and DDC for the future development of communications technology has the necessary skills. So, it has been recognized in the wireless and the SDR(Software Defined Radio) system as essential components. In addition, research is underway on spectrum sensing for efficient communications environment due to the shortage of frequency resources. In this paper, the DDC systems were analyzed for CIC(Cascaded Integrator Comb) Filter, WDF(Wave Digital Filter), SRC(Sample Rate Conversion) each module. Moreover, we proposed a linkage effectively between DDC system and Spectrum Sensing for improve the efficiency of use of frequency by computer simulations. The simulation results of the DDC system was applied to the spectrum sensing capabilities. Also, performance and complexity of the results were derived and proposed system was the result of the check.
