Purpose: Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs) are rare neoplasms, usually arising from somatic soft tissues or peripheral nerves. Primary MPNST of the scalp is extremely rare. The case is being reported for its rarity. Methods: A 53-year-old female was presented with a scalp mass on vertex area. The tumor was localized in scalp skin and did not invade underlying periosteum or skull and treated with complete surgical excision followed by adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Results: Histologically, the tumor showed malignant spindle cells with focal S-100 positivity on immunohistochemistry and a diagnosis of MPNST was made. Conclusion: Authors experienced a rare case of primary scalp MPNST and report the case.
Metastatic tumors of the oral cavity are uncommon. Most of them are located in the mandible while only small percentage are found within the soft tissues. The common sites of metastases to the soft tissue of oral cavity were the tongue and gingiva and among the tongue, the base of tongue was most common. An explanation of the predilection may be due to a richer vascular supply within base of tongue. The authors have recently experienced a case of small cell lung carcinoma with base of tongue metastasis in a 81-year-old male who had foreign body sensation at swallowing and muffled voice for 2 months. So, we present this case with the review of literatures.
The abdominal tumors in children are different from those of adult. These tumors are the third most common one, preceded by leukemia and brain tumors, in children under 15 years. X-ray examination is the most important method among diagnostic approaches. The role of diagnostic imaging is to identify the precise anatomic location and extent of pathologic process with the minimal number of imaging procedures. 23 cases of abdominal tumors were reviewed in respect of age incidence, site of origin, radiologic findings. The results are briefly summarized as follows : 1. Neuroblastoma was the most common(6 cases) and wi1m's tumor(5 cases), choledocal cyst(4 cases), ovarian mass(3 cases), hydronephrosis(2 cases), were descending order in frequency. 2. The most common site was retroperitoneum(60%). Kidney was the single most common site of origin. 3. Radiologic findings. The most common findings of plain radiography was ill defined soft tissue mass and this method was helpful in the presence of calcification especially in neuroblastoma. Ultrasonographic pattern was anechoic(cystic), echoic or mixed pattern, but this method provide less precise anatomical details, nevertheless ultrasonography wes paticullary useful imaging modality for the pediatric abdominal tumors. IVP findings were renal displacement, caliceopelvic system distortion or nonvisualization of kidney, these information was helpful in determining the location of tumors. CT scan showed homogenous or inhomogenous, cystic or solid, mass with their anatomic location. 4. Ultrasonography was the most widely used specific diagnostic method, but had limited value in detecting the anatomic location of tumors. CT scan was superior to ultrasound for determining the extent of tumors.

Purpose : To discuss the technical aspect of interstitial brachytherapy including method of implant, insertion time of radioactive source, total radiation dose, and complication, we reviewed patients who had diagnoses of soft tissue sarcoma and were treated by conservative surgery, interstitial implant and external beam radiation therapy Materials and Methods : Between May 1995 and Dec. 1997, ten patients with primary or recurrent soft tissue sarcoma underwent surgical resection (wide margin excision) and received radiotherapy including interstitial brachytherapy. Catheters were placed with regular intervals of 1 ~l.5 cm immediately after tumor removal and covering the critical structures, such as neurovascular bundle or bone, with gelform, muscle, or tissue expander in the cases where the tumors were close to those structures. Brachytherapy consisted of high dose rate, iridium-192 implant which delivered 12~15 Gy to 1 cm distance from the center of source axis with 2~2.5 Gy/fraction, twice a day, starting on 6th day after the surgery, Within one month after the surgery, total dose of 50~55 Gy was delivered to the tumor bed with wide margin by the external beam radiotherapy. Results : All patients completed planned interstitial brachytherapy without acute side effects directly related with catheter implantation such as infection or bleeding. With median follow up duration of 25 months (range 12~41 months), no local recurrences were observed. And there was no severe form of chronic complication (RTOGIEORTC grade 3 or 4). Conclusion : The high dose rate interstitial brachytherapy is easy and safe way to minimize the radiation dose delivered to the adjacent normal tissue and to decrease radiation induced chronic morbidity such as fibrosis by reducing the total dose of external radiotherapy in the management of soft tissue sarcoma with conservative surgery.

Chondroid synringoma (CS), pleomorphic adenoma of skin, is a benign tumor found in the head and neck region. CS was first reported in 1859 by Billorth for the salivary gland tumor. The usual presentation is an slowly growing, asymptomatic mass. A 53-year-old female with a history of chondroid synringoma had presented with multiple firm, nodular masses found in the left nostril area. The lesion had been excised 8 years prior and was diagnosed histopathologically, but had gradually recurred. Excision of the mass located in subcutaneous layer revealed four whitish, firm tumors surrounded with capsular tissue. Neither recurrence nor complications occurred during the 18 months follow-up period. In the head and neck region, chondroid syringoma should always be considered in differential diagnosis of soft tissue masses despite its rare incidence. For that reason, excisional biopsy with clear margin is the optimal diagnostic as well as therapeutic choice. We report a case of recurred chondroid syringoma on the nose in female patient.
Calcifying fibrous pseudotumors (CFP) are rare soft tissue tumors that have unique histopathologic features characterized by a dense hyalinized collagenous tissue interspersed with benign spindle cells, lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate, and psammomatous or dystrophic calcifications. We report here on a case of calcifying fibrous pseudotumors in the pleura and provide a literature review.
A 71-year-old woman visited our hospital with the chief complain of a mass in her infrascapular region. We performed tumor excision and we diagnosed it as elastofibroma dorsi. Elastofibromas are benign soft tissue tumors that mostly arise in the infrascapular lesion; it is a slowly growing lesion that's characterized by the proliferation of fibrous tissue with elastin. Its incidence is very low and its pathogenesis remains unclear. We report here on this case, and we include a review of the relevant literature.

Meningothelial hamartoma is a benign tumor composed of ectopic meningothelial elements in the dermis and subcutaneous tissue. It mainly occurs in the scalp; however, the incidence is extremely low. The origin of meningothelial hamartoma has not been elucidated; nevertheless, it has been theorized that it derives from ectopic meningothelial rests displaced during embryologic development. It can be diagnosed histologically as proliferation of connective tissue elements and cells arranged in solid nests, resembling vascular tumors. On immunohistochemistry, it stains positively for epithelial membrane antigen and vimentin. At least 17 cases have been reported, verifying the rarity of the lesion. We present the case of a 16-year-old male patient with a soft scalp mass which was thought to be a lipoma, but turned out to be a meningothelial hamartoma on histology.
Lipomas are common soft tissue tumor that are usually located in the subcutaneous tissue. And intramuscular lipomas commonly arise in the upper and lower extremities, where they usually involve the large muscles. Intramuscular lipoma, also referred to as an infiltrating lipoma. is an unusual benign slow growing tumor composed of mature fat cell interdigitating with skeletal muscle. However, intramuscular lipomas are exceedingly rare in the face. We have been experienced a case intramuscular lipoma that located in the malar area. Because of the rarity of these tumors and their propensity to recur without adequate surgery, the case report is presented here. Achievement of surgical margin is essential as the recurrent rate may be as high as 15% to 62.5% without complete excision.
A 12-year-old intact male Cocker spaniel dog was presented for evaluation of lethargy and abdominal distension. Clinical examination revealed a round, palpable mass in the middle of the abdomen. Abdominal computed tomography showed a round soft tissue mass ($width{\times}height{\times}length$, $25{\times}13{\times}15cm^3$) without regional invasion and distant metastasis. Cytologic evaluation of the mass revealed adipose tissue-derived cells having vacuolated cytoplasm, indistinct borders, large nucleus and ropy chromatin pattern with variable sized lipid droplets. Complete surgical resection of the mass was performed and the mass was histopathologically diagnosed as primary omental lipoma. The dog has been recovered well without any additional clinical signs, and there was no relapse over the 8 months follow-up period. The clinical features and prognosis of the dog with primary omental adipocytic tumors have been described in this report.
