In this paper, a new method that monitors the quantity of particles using ion-counter in vacuum environment is introduced. In-situ particle monitoring (ISPM) system is composed by Gerdien type ion-counter (house-made), DC power supply and electrometer. The ion-counter applied by positive voltage detects only positive charged particles. Therefore the particles to be detected should be in known charge state for further data analysis. ion-counter is installed at the exhaust line of process equipment where the pressure loss is structurally low. ISPM system performance has been verified with SMPS (Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer) system. The correlation coefficient is above 0.98 at the particle size range of $20{\sim}300nm$ in diameter with identified charge distribution under $0.1{\sim}10.0$ Torr.

The interfacial electronic structure of a bilayer of chloroaluminum phthalocyanine (ClAlPc) and pentacene grown on indium tin oxide (ITO) has been studied using synchrotron radiation-excited photoelectron spectroscopy. The energy difference between the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) level of the pentacene layer and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) level of the ClAlPc layer (EDHOMO - EALUMO) was determined and compared with that of C60/pentacene bilayers. The EDHOMO - EALUMO of a heterojunction with ClAlPc was found to be 1.4 eV, while that with C60 was 1.0 eV. This difference is discussed in terms of the difference of the ionization energy of each acceptor materials. We also obtained the complete energy level diagrams of ClAlPc/pentacene/ITO and C60/pentacene/ITO, respectively.

A 39 kg, 7-year-old male Labrador Retriever dog with a 3-month history of epistaxis, sneezing, and nasal discharge was referred to the Veterinary Medical Center of the Tokyo University. On the plain X-ray and computed tomography (CT) of the head showed increased density of the soft tissue in the left nasal cavity and the tumor infiltrated to nasal septum. The tumor mass removed by rhinotomy. Histopathological examination of the mass revealed adenocarcinoma. Four weeks after the surgery, the radiation therapy was performed twice a week for f weeks. 4 months after surgery, the dog had a recurrence in nasal cavity and administered carboplatin 300 mg/$m^2$ twice. However, the tumor had no response to chemotherapy, additional surgery and additional radiation therapy, and the dog was euthanized at the owner's request. At necropsy, metastatic proliferation was confirmed in the lung, lymph nodes and nasal cavity.

A case of liposarcoma was reported in 52 year-old female. She had the operation history due to mediastinal lipoma at other Hospital before 26 months ago. Chest X-ray revealed a huge soft tissue mass- density at the entire right lung field, and left middle and lower lung field at admission. At the lateral film, the mass was located in the anterior and middle mediastinum. Transsternal bilateral thoracotomy was performed, followed by extirpation of liposarcoma, wedge resection of superior vena cava, angioplasty of superior vena cava, and then partial pericardiectomy. The post-operative treatment was 5500 rad irradiation. Post-operative course was uneventful, that was noticed by OPD follow-up for 10 months. Primary liposarcoma of the mediastinum is very rare tumor. This tumor grows to an enormous size, and symptoms are referable to compression of the contiguous intrathoracic structures. The treatment of choice is surgery in all cases. Such an approach serves to establish a tissue diagnosis, to relieve the patients* symptoms, and may results in a cure sometimes. Radiotherapy or/and chemotherapy seems to be ineffective, but should be further studied.

Acute osteomyelitis is usually shown as a localized area of increased activity (hot uptake) in the infectious focus on bone scintigraphy. In our patient, absence of radioactivity (cold lesion) was noted in the distal metaphyseal and diaphyseal regions of his right femur. Initial x-ray was interpreted as normal except for mild soft tissue swelling in the right thigh. The lesion was confirmed as an acute osteomyelitis with subperiosteal abscess on surgery. Staphylococcus aureus was the etiologic organism. We describe a case of acute osteomyelitis in a one-year-old boy shown as a cold lesion on bone scan.

The distribution of renal artery of fifty Korean native cattles (100 kidneys) was observed. Vinylite solution was injected into renal artery of ninety specimens for cast preparation. The angiography was prepared in 10 specimens by injecting thirty percent of barium sulfate solution into renal arteries, and then radiographed on a soft X-ray apparatus (Shimadzu Waltes 60). 1. A. renalis arose from the each side of abdominal aorta in the Korean native cattles. 2. The renal arteries were bifurcated into Ramus cranialis and caudalis (91%), and Ramus cranialis, medius and caudalis(9%) which were ramified 1-4 segmental arteries, respectively. 3. The segmental arteries were originated from R. cranialis and R. caudalis (87%), R. medius (9%) and A. renalis (4%). 4. The kidney were divided separately into 5-7 arterial segments by running of the segmental artery into the parenchyma. Among them six segments were mostly frequent(53%). 5. The Arcus arteriosus renalis was observed at 44% of the left kidney and 14% of the right kidney.

We verified the charged static electricity on LCD glass influences upon the etching uniformity of dry etching process by plasma. In the TFT-LCD manufacturing process, we mainly paid attention to eliminate the static electricity for TFT reliability. The static electricity caused the serious ununiformity of etching surface profile and etching rate in the dry etch process. Through our experiment on the made static electricity from -200V to -1000V, it was confirmed that the static electricity on LCD glass caused the etching rate variation of $1.5%{\sim}15%$. We recommend the etching process equipment for LCD manufacturing have to establish the soft X-ray exposure module system for eliminating the static electricity inside the loading and unloading chamber.

Subcutaneous emphysema is an unusual and rarely reported complication of tonsillectomy. The more commen complications are hemorrhage, infection and following anesthesia, aspiration, cardiac arrhythmia, and laryngeal trauma can occur. Posttonsillectomy subcutaneous emphysema results directly from the introduction of air into the tonsillar bed either during the surgical procedure itself or in the postoperative period. This condition is generally benign and self limiting and usually requires treatment only for the primary respiratory disease. In this report, we describe a 40-year-old female patient in whom subcutaneous emphysema developed shortly after tonsillectomy. She was observed for 5 days, at which point subcutaneous emphysema was seen on the follow up soft tissue neck X-ray to disappeared.

The amorphous Co-based alloy Co66Fe4Ni1B15Si14 (Metglas 2714A) is a suitable magnetic core material for high frequency operation. Appreciable reduction of the coercive force can be achieved by proper heat treatment. In this study, samples annealed at wide temperature range were analyzed using differential scanning calorimetry, high frequency B-H loop tester, X-ray diffractometer and resistivity meter. The results show that coercive force at 10 kHz decreases with in-creasing annealing temperature up to 773 K, but dramatically increases above this temperature. The squareness shows that the magnetic anisotropy on longitudinal direction of the as-cast state remains up to 773 K. Above this temperature, it decreases down to 0.5 that represents random distribution of magnetic domains. The crystallization abruptly occurs between 781 K and 783 K.

Leaf venation of 12 species of Lauraceae in Korea, native or introduced, was investigated and described by the use of Soft X-Ray. They could be grouped by the venation types, such as, 1. Actinodromous; Lindera obtusiloba, 2. Acrodromous; Cinnamomum camphora, C. japonicum, C. loureirii, 3. Brochidodromous having strongly developed basal secondary vein; Neolitsea aciculata, N. sericea, 4. Brochidodromous hoving irregulary branched secondary vein; Lindera erythrocarpa, L. glauca, 5. Brochidodromous having weak marginal loop; Machilus thunbergii, M.Japonica, 6. Brochidodromous having typical venation; Iozoste lancifolia, Litsea japonicum. This grouping corresponded with current classifying system at genus level except for genus Lindera, and supported Nakai's system at Tribe level. They also showed a gradual transition from brochidodromous to actinodromous types, but to certify the systematic value of this transition warrented more study. Identifying key for the species could be made by the venation type.
