경관메트릭스를 이용한 금호강 유역 산림경관의 시·공간적 변화탐지 (Spatio-temporal Change Detection of Forest Landscape in the Geumho River Watershed using Landscape Metrics)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 각종 환경적 교란이 야기되고 있는 금호강 유역의 경관구조를 정량화, 모니터링하기 위한 경관메트릭스의 적용가능성을 평가하는데 있다. 경관메트릭스는 토지피복지도(1985년, 1999년)의 산림패취만을 대상으로 계산하였다. 최초 사용된 12개 메트릭스는 인자분석을 통해서 전체 변량의 91% 이상 설명하는 3개의 공통인자로 축소되었다. 또한, 다중회귀분석을 사용하여 토지개발이 산림경관구조의 변화에 미치는 영향을 규명하였다. 산림패치에서 도시지역과 농경지로의 전환은 파편화의 증가를 초래한 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 도시지역으로의 전환은 패치면적과 패치크기를 감소시키고, 패치밀도는 증가시켰다($R^2=0.696$, p<0.01). 패치크기의 이질성과 패치모양의 복잡성은 농경지로의 전환에 의해서 감소하였다($R^2=0.405$, p<0.01). 핵심구역과 가장자리의 밀도는 증가하는 경향을 보였으나, 산림의 도시지역과 농경지로의 전환과는 뚜렷한 상호관계를 가지지 않았다. 향후에는 경관구조와 특정한 환경적, 사회경제적 경관기능 사이의 상호관계성을 분석하는 연구가 필요할 것이다.

암가족력 유무에 따른 부정적 심리요인과 유방암 검진과의 관련성: 우리나라 여성을 중심으로 (Relationship between Cancer Worries and Breast Cancer Screening with and without Family History among Korean Women)

  • Background: Women with family history of breast cancer are more likely to be worried about having cancer and participate in breast cancer screening. However, few studies have examined relationship between family history, cancer worries, and participating in breast cancer screening in Korea. This study is to identify relationship between family history, cancer worries, and participating in breast cancer screening among women with and without family history of cancer. Methods: Respondents were 2,364 women who based on the 2013 Korean National Cancer Screening Survey which is done by National Cancer Center in Korea. Chi-square tests were performed to determine differences of cancer worries, undergoing of breast cancer screening and methods such as mammogram and ultrasonogram with and without cancer family history. Univariate and multiple logistic regression were performed to identify if family history and cancer worries are related factors on participating in breast cancer screening and methods. Stratified analysis was performed to confirm the effect of ultrasonogram on the dense breast by age. Results: Women with cancer family history frequently checked condition for conscious of having cancer (p=0.0299) and had highly perception of risk about having cancer in the future ($p{\leq}0.0001$). Women aged 30-49 did not perform significantly more ultrasonogram than women aged over 50 years old. Checking condition (moderate odds ratio [OR], 1.38; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.20-2.08; frequently OR, 1.58; 95% CI, 1.08-1.76) and perception of risk (moderate OR, 3.12; 95% CI, 1.06-7.06; high OR, 2.74; 95% CI, 1.20-8.08) were related to participate in mammogram and ultrasonogram. A positive family history was related to 1.35 higher odds of performing only breast ultrasonogram (95% CI, 1.04-1.75). Conclusion: This study requires national education and publicity to reduce the unnecessary cost of screening, to be possible cost effective screening and to encourage women to receive more mammogram, especially women aged over 50 years old and with socioeconomic factors related to opportunistic screening.

Effect of rainfall events on soil carbon flux in mountain pastures

  • Background: Large-scale land-use change is being caused by various socioeconomic problems. Land-use change is necessarily accompanied by changes in the regional carbon balance in terrestrial ecosystems and affects climate change. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the correlation between environmental factors altered by land-use change and the carbon balance. To address this issue, we studied the characteristics of soil carbon flux and soil moisture content related to rainfall events in mountain pastures converted from deciduous forest in Korea. Results: The average soil moisture contents (SMC) during the study period were 23.1% in the soil respiration (SR) plot and 25.2% in the heterotrophic respiration (HR) plot. The average SMC was increased to 2.1 and 1.1% in the SR and HR plots after rainfall events, respectively. In addition, saturated water content was 29.36% in this grassland. The soil water content was saturated under the consistent rainfall of more than $5mm\;h^{-1}$ rather than short-term heavy rainfall event. The average SR was increased to 28.4% after a rainfall event, but the average HR was decreased to 70. 1%. The correlation between soil carbon flux rates and rainfall was lower than other environmental factors. The correlation between SMC and soil carbon flux rates was low. However, HR exhibited a tendency to be decreased when SMC was 24.5%. In addition, the correlation between soil temperature and respiration rate was significant. Conclusions: In a mountain pasture ecosystem, rainfall induced the important change of soil moisture content related to respiration in soil. SR and HR were very sensitive to change of SMC in soil surface layer about 0-10-cm depth. SR was increased by elevation of SMC due to a rainfall event, and the result was assumed from maintaining moderate soil moisture content for respiration in microorganism and plant root. However, HR was decreased in long-time saturated condition of soil moisture content. Root has obviously contributed to high respiration in heavy rainfall, but it was affected to quick depression in respiration under low rainfall. The difference of SMC due to rainfall event was causative of a highly fluctuated soil respiration rate in the same soil temperature condition. Therefore, rainfall factor or SMC are to be considered in predicting the soil carbon flux of grassland ecosystems for future climate change.

Spatiotemporal Trends of Malaria in Relation to Economic Development and Cross-Border Movement along the China-Myanmar Border in Yunnan Province

  • The heterogeneity and complexity of malaria involves political and natural environments, socioeconomic development, cross-border movement, and vector biology; factors that cannot be changed in a short time. This study aimed to assess the impact of economic growth and cross-border movement, toward elimination of malaria in Yunnan Province during its pre-elimination phase. Malaria data during 2011-2016 were extracted from 18 counties of Yunnan and from 7 villages, 11 displaced person camps of the Kachin Special Region II of Myanmar. Data of per-capita gross domestic product (GDP) were obtained from Yunnan Bureau of Statistics. Data were analyzed and mapped to determine spatiotemporal heterogeneity at county and village levels. There were a total 2,117 malaria cases with 85.2% imported cases; most imported cases came from Myanmar (78.5%). Along the demarcation line, malaria incidence rates in villages/camps in Myanmar were significantly higher than those of the neighboring villages in China. The spatial and temporal trends suggested that increasing per-capita GDP may have an indirect effect on the reduction of malaria cases when observed at macro level; however, malaria persists owing to complex, multi-faceted factors including poverty at individual level and cross-border movement of the workforce. In moving toward malaria elimination, despite economic growth, cooperative efforts with neighboring countries are critical to interrupt local transmission and prevent reintroduction of malaria via imported cases. Cross-border workers should be educated in preventive measures through effective behavior change communication, and investment is needed in active surveillance systems and novel diagnostic and treatment services during the elimination phase.

Development of a Korean Diet Score (KDS) and its application assessing adherence to Korean healthy diet based on the Korean Food Guide Wheels

  • The most critical point in the assessment of adherence to dietary guidelines is the development of a practical definition for adherence, such as a dietary pattern score. The purpose of this study was to develop the Korean Diet Score (KDS) based on the Korean Food Balance Wheel and to examine the association of KDS with various lifestyle characteristics and biochemical factors. The dietary data of 5,320 subjects from the 4th Korean National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey were used for the final analysis. The food guide was composed of six food group categories; 'grain dishes', 'fish and meat dishes', 'vegetable dishes', 'fruits', 'milk' and 'oils and sugars'. Based on the recommended serving numbers for each group, the scores measuring adherence to this food guide were calculated from the dietary information from the 24-hour dietary recall questionnaire, and then its correlation with various characteristics was assessed. KDS was significantly associated with several clinical, lifestyle and socioeconomic factors as well as diagnosed disease history. The higher quintile group of KDS showed a significantly lower level in fasting blood glucose, systolic blood pressure, triglycerides, current smoking and drinking as well as higher leisure time activity, house income and education. Furthermore, the KDS quintile group of women was inversely associated with hypertension, osteoporosis and diabetes. A higher KDS quintile was characterized with a higher intake of several critical nutrients, such as Ca, Fe and vitamins as well as a desirable nutrition balance such as the ratio of macronutrients. Our results demonstrate that KDS is a beneficial tool in assessing the adherence to a healthy diet based on the Korean dietary guidelines. We suggest that KDS could be a useful indicator for evaluating the dietary balance of the Korean population.

초고령사회 진입 지방자치단체 노인의 의료비부담과 가구 유형의 영향 (The Effect of Household Type on the Medical Burden of the Elderly Living in a Local Government that has Entered a Super-aged Society)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 인구고령화에 따라 급격히 증가하고 있는 노인의 의료비와 노인 가구의 변화와 관련하여 초고령사회에 진입한 지자체에 거주하는 노인이 의료비 지출에 얼마나 부담감을 갖고 있으며, 가구 유형에 따른 차이가 있는지, 그리고 어떠한 요인이 영향을 미치는지 등을 분석하는데 있다. 수원시정연구원에서 2015년 조사한 원자료를 활용하여 분석하였는데, 응답자의 59.3%가 의료비의 부담을 느끼고 있었으며, 노인가구의 세 유형에 따라 의료비부담 수준은 차이가 있었다. 성인가구원동거가구보다는 노인부부가구에서, 노인부부가구보다는 노인단독가구에서 의료비부담 수준이 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 또한 가구 유형에 따른 의료비부담에 미치는 영향요인을 확인하기 위하여 다중회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 공통적으로는 주관적 건강상태가 세 가구유형 모두 유의미한 요인으로 분석되었으나, 노인단독가구는 사회적 경제적 지위와 건강상태, 노인부부가구는 건강상태, 성인가구원동거가구는 건강상태와 민간보험가입건수, 의료보장형태가 유의미하게 나타났다. 연구 결과를 통해 중앙정부 차원의 변화되는 노인의 가구 유형에 따른 의료비부담 경감 방안과 지방자치단체 차원의 노인의 보건 및 의료, 그리고 복지에 대한 서비스 지원 방안을 제시하였다.

RCP 시나리오 기반 Dyna-CLUE 모형을 이용한 황구지천 유역의 토지이용변화 분석 (Analysis of Land Use Change Using RCP-Based Dyna-CLUE Model in the Hwangguji River Watershed)

  • The objective of this study was to predict land use change based on the land use change scenarios for the Hwangguji river watershed, South Korea. The land use change scenario was derived from the representative concentration pathways (RCP) 4.5 and 8.5 scenarios. The CLUE (conversion of land use and its effects) model was used to simulate the land use change. The CLUE is the modeling framework to simulate land use change considering empirically quantified relations between land use types and socioeconomic and biophysical driving factors through dynamical modeling. The Hwangguji river watershed, South Korea was selected as study area. Future land use changes in 2040, 2070, and 2100 were analyzed relative to baseline (2010) under the RCP4.5 and 8.5 scenarios. Binary logistic regressions were carried out to identify the relation between land uses and its driving factors. CN (Curve number) and impervious area based on the RCP4.5 and 8.5 scenarios were calculated and analyzed using the results of future land use changes. The land use change simulation of the RCP4.5 scenario resulted that the area of urban was forecast to increase by 12% and the area of forest was estimated to decrease by 16% between 2010 and 2100. The land use change simulation of the RCP8.5 scenario resulted that the area of urban was forecast to increase by 16% and the area of forest was estimated to decrease by 18% between 2010 and 2100. The values of Kappa and multiple resolution procedure were calculated as 0.61 and 74.03%. CN (III) and impervious area were increased by 0-1 and 0-8% from 2010 to 2100, respectively. The study findings may provide a useful tool for estimating the future land use change, which is an important factor for the future extreme flood.

야간위성영상을이용한국립공원탐방성수기와비수기의빛공해특성분석 (Characterizing light pollution in national parks during peak and off-peak tourist seasons using nighttime satellite images)

  • 본 연구에서는 국립공원 탐방 성수기와 비수기에 따른 빛공해 특성 차이 분석을 목적으로 하였다. 우리나라 21개 국립공원 중 북한산과 무등산국립공원을 제외한 19개 국립공원의 빛공해는 2012년 10월(성수기)과 2013년 1월(비수기)에 촬영된 VIIRS(Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite) 센서의 DNB(Day and Night Band) 영상 중 구름과 달빛이 없는 시기에 촬영된 영상을 이용하여 추정하였고, bootstrapping 회귀 분석을 이용하여 각 시기별로 어떠한 사회경제적, 정책적 요인이 국립공원 빛공해 수준에 영향을 미치는지 분석하였다. 국립공원 빛공해 특성은 탐방 성수기와 비수기에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 탐방 성수기에는 국립공원 내부의 야간 조명보다 공원 인근 조명이 국립공원 내부의 빛공해 수준에 더 큰 영향을 주었고 비수기에는 공원 인근보다 공원 내부에 의한 영향이 더 큰 것으로 분석되었다. 탐방 성수기에 국립공원 인근 야간 조명 영향이 더 크게 나타난 원인은 공원 인근의 숙박 및 레크리에이션 시설의 야간 조명이 대기 중에서 산란되어 국립공원 내부로 침입하는 스카이글로우현상(sky glow effect)으로 판단된다. 이 결과는 국립공원 빛공해의 피해를 줄이기 위해서는 국립공원 내부 뿐 아니라 특별히 탐방 성수기 동안 인근 지역의 야간 조명을 규제하여야 한다는 것을 시사해준다.

에코세대의 연애 및 결혼, 출산 및 양육의 자신감에 대한 결정요인 - 미혼 취업자 1982~1992년생을 중심으로 - (The determinants of confidence in courtship and marriage, childbirth and parenting of the echo boomer generation : Focusing on the unmarried employed born between 1982 and 1992)

  • 본 연구에서는 한국노동패널 19차년도 자료 중 1982~1992년에 출생한 에코세대의 미혼취업자를 대상으로 연애 및 결혼, 출산 및 양육의 자신감에 대한 결정요인을 분석하고자 하였다. 에코세대의 사회인구학적, 심리사회적, 직장관련 변인에 따른 연애 및 결혼, 출산 및 양육의 자신감 차이를 살펴보고, 이에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위해 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 사회경제적 지위, 심리사회적 변인에 따라 연애 및 결혼, 출산 및 양육의 자신감 수준에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 그러나 직무만족도에 따른 출산 및 양육의 자신감을 제외한 모든 직장관련 변인에 따라 연애 및 결혼, 출산 및 양육의 자신감 수준에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 또한 연애 및 결혼, 출산 및 양육에 모두 영향을 미치는 결정요인으로 한국사회에 대한 청년인식의 영향력이 가장 컸고, 다음은 사회적 지지, 조직몰입도의 순으로 나타났다.

연탄(煉炭)가스중독(中毒)의 발생실태(發生實態)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Incidence of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning)

  • A decade ago a survey on the population-base incidence rate of anthracite coal gas (mainly carbon monoxide) poisonig in Seoul area was investigated, resulting in the incidence rate of 306/10,000 risk population and 1 death/10,000. Another survey on the carbon monoxide poisoning was investigated during 1 year period from Apr. 1983 to Mar. 1984. Total subjects of risk population were 67,740 households covering 353,287 persons. The major findings of this survey are as follows: 1. Household-base incidence rate was 8.4% spell-base 10.4%. 2. The incidence rate was the highest in houses having each of slate roof, cement wall, vinyl floor of bedroom and direct 'ondol' heating system. 3. Average 2.1 person was attacked from one incidence of the poisoning; severity-wise person-base incidence rates per 10,000 were 352 in mild poisoning, 54 in severe poisoning and 1.4 in death-overall incidence rate 407. Several facts were identified which supported that this figure was moderately underestimated. As the incidence of the poisoning is affected by socioeconomic and environmental factors, it is natural that one expects the incidence will decrease in proportion to genernal improvement of the above factors. Thus the results of these two surveys seemed preposterous. But further study suggested that the incidence rate (306/10,000) decade before had been significantly underestimated and corrected-rate should have been 478/10,000 level. 4. Age and sex distribution by the degree of the poisoning was uniform with little statistical difference; overall incidence rates by sex were 339/10,000 in male and 475/10,000 in female with significant statistical difference(p<.01). 5. 5.3% of the patients were treated at hospital or local clinic; 3.0% of the patients were hospitalized. Admission rate in comatose patient(severe poisoning) was 14.2%. In conclusion, carbon monoxide poisoning remains a major health problem by now.
