The subjects of this study were 31 mothers and their first-born infants from middle class families living in Seoul. Mother-infant interactions were filmed at 5 and 13 months of age during naturalistic play situations at home. Questionnaire data were also collected. Results revealed that both maternal didactic and social interactions decreased over the 5 to 13 month time period but (only for infants) object-oriented interaction increased over time. Infant object-oriented interaction at 13 months was predicted by cumulative effects of both mother's social stimulation at 5 months and infant social interaction at 13 months. Infant's social interaction at 13 months was predicted by infant's object-oriented interaction at 13 months. Infant language development was predicted by mother's didactic stimulation.
Purpose - This study explores the causes behind the high rate of impulse purchases in live streaming e-commerce. Design/methodology/approach - The research model is empirically validated with survey data collected from 324 respondents in China, using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) methodology. Findings - We found that the interactivity and visibility of live streaming are key in creating para-social relationships and perceived presence, leading to customers' impulse purchases. Research implications or Originality - This study deepens the understanding of consumers' impulse purchases in live-streaming e-commerce, revealing that para-social relationships and perceived presence developed through real-time interactions can increase impulse buying. It also highlights the differences between relationship-oriented and task-oriented interactions in fostering customers' perceived presence and para-social relationships in live streaming.
This study analyzes the welfare services and spatial composition of social welfare centers that represent complex welfare facilities in order to provide basic information for the spatial planning of social welfare centers. We examined 15 social welfare centers built in the 2000s. A literature review and case study were used as research methodology. The findings are as follow. First, services provided at the surveyed facilities overlapped for seniors and the handicapped. Most social welfare centers provided welfare services for seniors, young children, and teenagers. Second, the proportion of common area, program rooms was high for spatial composition. Third, front access by car was most common (used at nine centers) for the design of the access area and used by. Fourth, shared entry and exit was most common (used at 10 centers) for the design of the entrance. Fifth, regarding space combining style, a mixed style was most frequently used (observed at seven centers) where different private areas for different service users were partly mixed on certain floors. Sixth, a corridor type was most common (used at seven centers) for the design of a corridor space where visitors could walk along the corridor to access individual rooms. Based on the findings, we propose spatial composition of social welfare centers to promote mingling and exchanges among users of different generations.

Social deficits are the most critical and core deficits of the children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder(ASD) and they are qualitatively as well as qualitatively different from typically developing children. It is proposed that the attachment between the mother and the autistic child should be promoted foremost and early as possible, to improve social deficits, just like early social developments in normal children depend largely on interactions between the mother and the child who are attached to each other we have developed an interventional program, 'Attachment Promotion Therapy', largely based on the attachment theory. The Attachment promotion Therapy mandates the participation of both the mother and the autistic child, and consists of mutually enjoying play activities, close physical contacts and parental training on intense mother-child interactions, focusing on improving maternal sensitivity, responsiveness, and nurturing behaviors during their interactions. The program was found to be effective in improving attachment behaviors, attachment security and acquiring joint attention skills. Attachment Promotion Therapy is therefore proposed here as the important earliest intervention method for children with ASD and could become the base for many other educational and therapeutic interventions.
The goals of this study were to examine how children's recognition of various emotions, emotion expression, and social interactions among their peers differed according to their attachment styles. A total of 65 three to five years old children completed both attachment story-stem doll plays and a standard emotion recognition task. Trained observers documented children's valence of emotion expression and social interactions among their peers in the classroom. Consistent with attachment theory, children who were categorized as secure in the doll play were more likely to express positive emotions than children who were categorized as avoidant in the doll play. Children who were categorized as avoidant in the doll play were more likely to express neutral emotions among their peers than children who were categorized as secure and anxious in the doll play. The findings of this study contribute to the general attachment literature by documenting how attachment security plays a crucial role in having positive emotions in ordinary situations. It does so by also demonstrating how different attachment styles are associated with children's qualitatively different patterns of emotion processing, especially in terms of their expression of emotions.
It has been suggested that children's reasons for reading are various; reading efficacy, challenge, curiosity, involvement, importance, recognition, competition, compliance, grades, avoidance and social interactions. To extend previous studies in which only one or two motivational constructs were studied in relation to reading abilities, this study was carried out to examine 11 inter-relationships of motivational constructs and their relationships to reading abilities. Using the MRQ of Wigfield & Guthrie(1997), and the Basic Learning Skills Test of the Korea Educational Development Institute(1989), 334 elementary school children were measured for their reading motivation and abilities. The results showed that 11 motivational constructs were interrelated, which were also related with reading abilities. Out of 11 motivational constructs, importance was able to predict the reading abilities in multiple-regression analyses. From F-tests, those groups with high reading efficacy, challenge, curiosity, involvement, recognition, competition and social interactions outperformed those with low motivational constructs. The findings of this study confirm that children read for various reasons, and internal motivation and social interactions are significantly related with reading abilities. It is proposed that the internal reasons for reading are also more significant factors in explaining reading abilities than external reasons. Finally, cultural influences on reading motivation and comprehension are also discussed.

Online social networks (OSNs) have changed the way people communicate with each other. An OSN usually encourages the participants to provide personal information such as real names, birthdays and educational background to look for and establish friendships among them. Some users are unwilling to reveal personal information on their personal pages due to potential privacy concerns, but their friends may inadvertently reveal that. In this work, we investigate the possibility of leaking personal information on Facebook in an unintentional and involuntary manner. The revealed information may be useful to malicious users for social engineering and spear phishing. We design the inference methods to find birthdays and educational background of Facebook users based on the interactions among friends on Facebook pages and groups, and also leverage J-measure to find the inference rules. The inference improves the finding rate of birthdays from 71.2% to 87.0% with the accuracy of 92.0%, and that of educational background from 75.2% to 91.7% with the accuracy of 86.3%. We also suggest the sanitization strategies to avoid the private information leakage.
Lecture theatres and computing laboratories are common types of classrooms used for teaching and learning in this study; both were equipped with a computer network through which teachers and students can access learning management system, digital library, educational software, and so on. Students were divided into groups of two or three; each group of students collaborated on the worksheets in the laboratory and naturally sat together when attending a class held in the lecture theatre. The social organization of classroom learning would promote student learning but what drives student learning; how to engage students with learning; and how to maintain their interest in learning are of research interest in the present study. The study illustrated the theoretical and empirical links, student motivation has a relation to rich collaboration with peers, communication as verbal interactions as well as teacher-student interactions. These are within socio-cultural contexts for learning to take place. The study was extended to make comparisons of the motivational orientations between student genders. It was found that female students were keener on fun or enjoyment in learning, peer communication, and teacher's intervention, whereas male students were concerned more about digital learning tools, a positive working relationship, social reciprocity, and interpersonal relationships.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of social interaction on metacognition, learning motive and academic achievement in elementary science learning. The science lessons emphasizing social interactions that is applied to this study was comprised of 5 stages, 'introduction', 'inquiry activity', 'small group emergent activity', 'large group emergent activity', 'conclusion and assessment'. The results of this study were as follows: First, applying the learning model emphasizing social interaction to the experimental group led to a significant difference between the result of the pre- and post-test, regarding metacognition, especifically those of declarative knowledge. And meaningful difference was drawn from the results of all elements in the lower category of regulation of cognition between the experimental and comparison group. Second, a significant difference was found between the pre- and post-test regarding learning motive, especially those of attention, relation, and self-confidence. Third, after applying the learning model emphasizing social interaction to the science classes of the experimental group, students' academic achievement improved significantly in the post-test, compared to the results of pre-test.
Science, technology and innovation policy (STI policy) is a result of the interactions between the social issues and academic research. Understanding the interactions of the STI policy between the social issues and academic research can throw some light on designing better policies and enhancing the social value of academic research. Thus, this paper explores the interactions of the STI policy between the social issues and academic research using the qualitative content analysis of major newspapers and journal articles in Korea. We have three major findings. First, on the one hand, academic research rose after uprising changes in the STI policy issues in the society. Second, on the other hand, social issues on STI policy were influenced by academic research reflecting the fundamental changes in the Korean innovation system and the nature of technology. Third, there are strong policy demands regarding the role of the STI policy for society and for traditional economic domains, but relevant research is scarce up to now. These findings contribute to uncovering the potential policy domains and agendas for policy makers and researchers.
