Opinion Retrieval in Twitter Considering Syntactic Relations of Sentiment Phrase (의견 어구의 구문 관계를 고려한 트위터 의견 검색)

  • In this paper, we propose a method of retrieving opinioned tweets in Twitter, which is the one of the popular Social Network Services and shares diverse opinions among various users. In typical opinion retrieval systems, they may consider the presence of sentiment phrases (subjectivity) as the important factor even if the subjective phrases are not related to a given query or speaker. To alleviate these problems, we utilized the syntactic structure of a sentence to identify the relationships between 1) subjectivity-query and 2) subjectivity-speaker and 3) the syntactic role of subjectivity. Besides, our learning-to-rank approach is trained to retrieve opinioned tweets based on query-relevance, textual features, user information, and Twitter-specific features. Experimental results on real world data show that our proposed method can achieve better performance than several baseline methods in terms of precision and nDCG.

  • In these OECD countries, left-wingers Government focus on unemployment, but right -wingers Government cares more about inflation. It is that inflation and unemployment don't have differential effects across rich and poor and the happiness levels of these two groups are unaffected by identity of the Government in power. The poor people choose to left-wingers Government, but rich people prefer to right -wingers Government. I estimate whether above opinion is correct or not. Especially I check how my results change when I control for aggregate economy activity and government consumption, two variables that could be correlated with inflation and unemployment and affect each Government's happiness differentially. This paper, and I believe much of the happiness literature, can be understood as an application of experienced utility, a conception that emphasis the pleasures derived from private consumption and sentiment of it. In Granger Causality test, private consumption sentiment index related with industrial production interactively in Korea. The business cycles affect on private consumption sentiment index.

Analyzing Dissatisfaction Factors of Weather Service Users Using Twitter and News Headlines

  • Social media is a massive dataset in which individuals' thoughts are freely recorded. So there have been a variety of efforts to analyze it and to understand the social phenomenon. In this study, Twitter was used to define the moments when negative perceptions of the Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA) were displayed and the reasons people were dissatisfied with the KMA. Machine learning methods were used for sentiment analysis to automatically train the implied awareness on Twitter which mentioned the KMA July-October 2011-2014. The trained models were used to validate sentiments on Twitter 2015-2016, and the frequency of negative sentiments was compared with the satisfaction of forecast users. It was found that the frequency of the negative sentiments increased before satisfaction decreased sharply. And the tweet keywords and the news headlines were qualitatively compared to analyze the cause of negative sentiments. As a result, it was revealed that the individual caused the increase in the monthly negative sentiments increase in 2016. This study represents the value of sentiment analysis that can complement user satisfaction surveys. Also, combining Twitter and news headlines provided the idea of analyzing the causes of dissatisfaction that are difficult to identify with only satisfaction surveys. The results contribute to improving user satisfaction with weather services by efficiently managing changes in satisfaction.

  • Bitcoin, a representative cryptocurrency, is receiving a lot of attention around the world, and the price of Bitcoin shows high volatility. High volatility is a risk factor for investors and causes social problems caused by reckless investment. Since the price of Bitcoin responds quickly to changes in the world environment, we propose to predict the price volatility of Bitcoin by utilizing news information that provides a variety of information in real-time. In other words, positive news stimulates investor sentiment and negative news weakens investor sentiment. Therefore, in this study, sentiment information of news and deep learning were applied to predict the change in Bitcoin yield. A single predictive model of logit, artificial neural network, SVM, and LSTM was built, and an integrated model was proposed as a method to improve predictive performance. As a result of comparing the performance of the prediction model built on the historical price information and the prediction model reflecting the sentiment information of the news, it was found that the integrated model based on the sentiment information of the news was the best. This study will be able to prevent reckless investment and provide useful information to investors to make wise investments through a predictive model.

Sentiment Analysis of News Based on Generative AI and Real Estate Price Prediction: Application of LSTM and VAR Models (생성 AI기반 뉴스 감성 분석과 부동산 가격 예측: LSTM과 VAR모델의 적용)

  • Real estate market prices are determined by various factors, including macroeconomic variables, as well as the influence of a variety of unstructured text data such as news articles and social media. News articles are a crucial factor in predicting real estate transaction prices as they reflect the economic sentiment of the public. This study utilizes sentiment analysis on news articles to generate a News Sentiment Index score, which is then seamlessly integrated into a real estate price prediction model. To calculate the sentiment index, the content of the articles is first summarized. Then, using AI, the summaries are categorized into positive, negative, and neutral sentiments, and a total score is calculated. This score is then applied to the real estate price prediction model. The models used for real estate price prediction include the Multi-head attention LSTM model and the Vector Auto Regression model. The LSTM prediction model, without applying the News Sentiment Index (NSI), showed Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) values of 0.60, 0.872, and 1.117 for the 1-month, 2-month, and 3-month forecasts, respectively. With the NSI applied, the RMSE values were reduced to 0.40, 0.724, and 1.03 for the same forecast periods. Similarly, the VAR prediction model without the NSI showed RMSE values of 1.6484, 0.6254, and 0.9220 for the 1-month, 2-month, and 3-month forecasts, respectively, while applying the NSI led to RMSE values of 1.1315, 0.3413, and 1.6227 for these periods. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model in predicting apartment transaction price index and its ability to forecast real estate market price fluctuations that reflect socio-economic trends.

Automatic Retrieval of SNS Opinion Document Using Machine Learning Technique (기계학습을 이용한 SNS 오피니언 문서의 자동추출기법)

  • Recently, as Social Network Services(SNS) are becoming more popular, much research has been doing on analyzing public opinions from SNS. One of the most important tasks for solving such a problem is to separate opinion(subjective) documents from others(e.g. objective documents) in SNS. In this paper, we propose a new method of retrieving the opinion documents from Twitter. The reason why it is not easy to search or classify the opinion documents in Twitter is due to a lack of publicly available Twitter documents for training. To tackle the problem, at first, we build a machine-learned model for sentiment classification using the external documents similar to Twitter, and then modify the model to separate the opinion documents from Twitter. Experimental results show that proposed method can be applied successfully in opinion classification.

Measuring Hotel Service Quality Using Social Media Analytics: The Moderating Effects of Brand of Origin

  • With the rapid advancement of social media analytics and artificial intelligence, many studies have used online customer reviews as an important source to measure service quality in many industries, including the hotel industry. However, these studies have failed to identify the relative importance of different dimensions of service quality and their role in customer satisfaction. To fill this research gap, this study aims to identify the effects of service quality on hotel customer satisfaction from the multidimensional perspectives using sentiment analysis with self-training on online reviews. Additionally, the moderating role of the brand of origin for each service quality dimension is also investigated. Drawing on the SERVQUAL model and brand of origin concept, this study develops 12 hypotheses and empirically tests them using 30,070 online customer hotel reviews collected from TripAdvisor.com. The results indicated that overall service quality and each dimension of SERVQUAL significantly influenced customer satisfaction of hotels. The results also confirmed the moderating effects of brand of origin on overall service quality. However, the moderating effects of brand of origin for the tangible, reliability, and empathy dimensions of service quality were significant, whereas the effects for responsiveness and assurance were not. This study sheds new light on service quality measurement by analyzing the multidimensional features of service quality and the role of brand of origin in the hotel service context.

  • Depression is a serious psychological disease that is expected to afflict an increasing number of people. And studies on depression have been conducted in the context of social media because social media is a platform through which users often frankly express their emotions and often reveal their mental states. In this study, large amounts of Korean text were collected and analyzed to determine whether such data could be used to detect depression in users. This study analyzed data collected from Twitter users who had and did not have depressive tendencies between January 2016 and February 2019. The data for each user was separately analyzed before and after the appearance of depressive tendencies to see how their expression changed. In this study the data were analyzed through co-occurrence word analysis, topic modeling, and sentiment analysis. This study's automated data collection method enabled analyses of data collected over a relatively long period of time. Also it compared the textual characteristics of users with depressive tendencies to those without depressive tendencies.

Sentiment Analysis for Public Opinion in the Social Network Service (SNS 기반 여론 감성 분석)

  • As an application of big data and artificial intelligence techniques, this study proposes an atypical language-based sentimental opinion poll methodology, unlike conventional opinion poll methodology. An alternative method for the sentimental classification model based on existing statistical analysis was to collect real-time Twitter data related to parliamentary elections and perform empirical analyses on the Polarity and Intensity of public opinion using attribute-based sensitivity analysis. In order to classify the polarity of words used on individual SNS, the polarity of the new Twitter data was estimated using the learned Lasso and Ridge regression models while extracting independent variables that greatly affect the polarity variables. A social network analysis of the relationships of people with friends on SNS suggested a way to identify peer group sensitivity. Based on what voters expressed on social media, political opinion sensitivity analysis was used to predict party approval rating and measure the accuracy of the predictive model polarity analysis, confirming the applicability of the sensitivity analysis methodology in the political field.

Inference of Korean Public Sentiment from Online News (온라인 뉴스에 대한 한국 대중의 감정 예측)

  • Online news has replaced the traditional newspaper and has brought about a profound transformation in the way we access and share information. News websites have had the ability for users to post comments for quite some time, and some have also begun to crowdsource reactions to news articles. The field of sentiment analysis seeks to computationally model the emotions and reactions experienced when presented with text. In this work, we analyze more than 100,000 news articles over ten categories with five user-generated emotional annotations to determine whether or not these reactions have a mathematical correlation to the news body text and propose a simple sentiment analysis algorithm that requires minimal preprocessing and no machine learning. We show that it is effective even for a morphologically complex language like Korean.
