Religion and new media are two important factors in contemporary Middle Eastern societies. Media is seen as a relatively newcomer while religion has been and remains an old and core component of the fabric of societies in this region. This article is an attempt to examine the encounter of these two phenomena in the Middle East. It will try to explore the variety of ways by which new media have served religion both positively and negatively, and how religion has taken position for and against media in Middle Eastern countries in general and in the Iranian case in particular. It is also the purpose of this article to look at the different aspects of this relationship between media and religion, analyzing how one affected the other, and how this interaction affected society. It is argued that the outcome of the interaction between religion and media has had a great impact on shaping the social and political culture of the countries in this region including Iran. The dimensions of this impact will determine the outcome of the clash between modernity and tradition in the region.

Many users actively create and share digital contents in a variety of social media platforms. Social media users have become accustomed to posting or uploading their daily routines, and generating their contents by imitating others' contents or by creating their own unique contents on the basis of their creativity. Thus, this paper explores the relationship between individual creativity, imitation and creative behavior in using social media. In addition, the study demonstrates the moderating effect of individual characteristics such as age and educational level on the relationship between creativity and imitation. We conducted a three-month survey of 564 individuals using social media services and the results were used for hypotheses testing. The study results are summarized as follows. Firstly, creativity has a significant and positive impact on imitation, but not a direct impact on creative behavior. Secondly, the moderating effect of individual characteristics between creativity and imitation is not statistically significant. Based on these findings, this study presents practical and academic implications of the research.

The rapidly changing social structure of the digital environment is having a significant impact on economic activities. That is also an important issue for Individuals who want to sustain economic activities and countries that support policies. Non-face-to-face industries have been revitalized due to the problem of human capital utilization attributed to aging population, the real economic recession caused by Corona 19, contraction of face-to-face economic activities, reduction of employment, and job instability. Accordingly, digital media contents based economic activities have become commonplace, and the government's main policy issue is to use human capital effectively for media contents based economic activities. Adaptation to the digital environment has become a necessity, not a choice, for those who wish to continue to be in employment. Therefore, this study analyzed the effects of digital and individual abilities on intention to sustain the economic activity and verified the modulation effect of the role model. In order to achieve the purpose of this research, an online survey was conducted on men and women aged 20 to 80 nationwide, and 382 of the 385 collected questionaires were analyzed. The SPSS 23.0 program was used to analyze this study, and the questionaire questions were measured using the Likert 5-point scale. As a result of the analysis, first, the ability to utilize media contents in digital capacity has a positive impact on the intention to sustain economic activity, and that the higher the ability to utilize the latest digital media contents such as SNS, the more likely the intention to sustain economic activity. Secondly, it was found that the financial strength of individuals' abilities was affected by the negative impact, and that the experiences were affected by positive(+) impact on the intention to sustain economic activity. Thirdly, the social environment has no significant effect on the intention to sustain economic activity. Fourth, it was found that family support amongst social support has a positive impact on the intention to sustain economic activity, and that various emotional support for families has increased intention to sustain economic activity. Fifth, the role model was found to have a positive(+) impact on economic sustainability, while the ability to utilize media content and family support played a modulating role on economic sustainability. Therefore, as a result of this research, the government's policy support for employment and entrepreneurship is required in accordance with digital media content based digital education and human structure in order to sustain economic activities.
Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of micro and macro-influencers on consumer purchase intentions, specifically focusing on the role of the product's origin (domestic or foreign). The study will specifically analyze the markets of South Korea and Kyrgyzstan to understand how various types of influencers impact consumer behavior within these unique cultural and economic settings. Design/methodology/approach This study evaluates hypotheses using the factorial design method among social media users in South Korea and Kyrgyzstan. The experiments involve scenarios with eight different groups. The analytical research methodology used is analysis of variance (ANOVA). Findings The study findings confirmed that micro- and macro-influencers have varying effects on consumer behavior, which supports previous research. The inclusion of the product origin factor resulted in more accurate data. In both the South Korean and Kyrgyzstan markets, the findings indicated that micro- and macro-influencers have limited success in promoting local products. However, when it comes to promoting foreign products, there are notable differences in effectiveness between micro- and macro-influencers, with macro-influencers being more effective.

Unlike the first generation of Korean Wave (Hallyu 1.0), which mainly refers to the exports of Korean TV dramas via broadcasting systems, the New Korean Wave (Hallyu 2.0) era has been brought by K-pop (Korean popular music) via the rapid growth of social media. The purpose of this study is to understand the impact of this significant shift in media on global fans and their way of adopting Korean cultural goods from a social capital perspective, in order to draw some implications for the current Korean content industries. Most global fans of K-pop are young and use social media to access digital content and share their opinions spontaneously. SNS providers such as YouTube and Facebook not only act as information providers to usher the fans to online music retailers; but also function as links between these fans and cultural producers by turning bonding social capital into bridging social capital. Telecommunication and advertising companies participate in this market as a third party by providing funds for supporting digital circulation and distribution. In this multi-sided market with the interdependent agents, it is extremely important to secure a platform that leads the evolution of its business ecology. Without owning the platform, there is also a very little chance to produce linking social capital as a means to maximize the impact of New Korean Wave.
This study examined the effects of game genre, news media with differing political ideologies, and game-related information sources on gamer issue participation by performing a hierarchical regression model, using an online survey on Korean gamers (N=1,362). As a result of the study, playing specific genres of games played a positive role in gamer issue participation. The group behavior or collective action for or against game regulation reported in the liberal/moderate media acted as a mobilization cue for readers and potentially encouraged gamers to take social action. But the conservative media, which used governmental organizations and interest groups as sources of information, had a negative impact on real-life participatory behavior. The biased journalism practice of the mass media on game-related social issues influenced gamers' social and political behavior through corrective action. This study is significant in empirically analyzing the relationship between political ideology, game genre, media use, and gamers' social participation. The current research suggests the improvement of game regulation policy and the need for theoretical and conceptual expansion of game research.

Internet companies that utilize social network have increased in number. The introduction of diverse social media services facilitated innovative changes in e-business. Social network service (SNS), which is a domain of social media, is a web-based service designed to strengthen human relations in the Internet and build new social relations. The remarkable growth of social network services and the profit generation and perception of this service are the new growth engines of this digital age. Given this development, many global IT companies views SNS as the most powerful form of social media. Thus, they invest efforts to develop business models using SNS.2) This study verifies the impact of privacy exposure in SNS as a result of privacy invasion. This study examines the purpose of using the SNS and user's awareness of the significance of personal information, which are key factors that affect self-disclosure of personal information. This study utilizes theory of reasoned action (TRA) to provide a theoretical platform that describes the specific behavior and emotional response of individuals. This study presents a research model that considers negative attitude (negatude). In this model, self-disclosure in SNS is considered a TRA. TRA is a subjective norm, a behavioral intention, and a key variable of exposure behavior. A survey was conducted on college students at Y university in Seoul to empirically verify the research model. The students have experiences in using SNS. A total of 198 samples were collected. Path analysis was applied to analyze the relations of factors. The results of path analysis show the statistically insignificant impact of privacy invasion on negatude, subjective norm, behavioral intention, and exposure behavior. The impact of unrecognized privacy invasion was also considered insignificant. The impacts of intention to use SNS on negatude, subjective norm, behavioral intention, and exposure behavior was significant. A significant impact was also found for the significance of personal information on subjective norm, behavioral intention, and exposure behavior, whereas the impact on negatude was insignificant. The impact of subjective norm on behavioral intention was significant. Lastly, the impact of behavioral intention on exposure behavior was insignificant. These findings are significant because the study examined the process of self-disclosure by integrating psychological and social factors based on theoretical discussion.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has not only caused significant challenges for health systems all over the globe but also fueled the surge of numerous rumors, hoaxes, and misinformation, regarding the etiology, outcomes, prevention, and cure of the disease. Such spread of misinformation is masking healthy behaviors and promoting erroneous practices that increase the spread of the virus and ultimately result in poor physical and mental health outcomes among individuals. Myriad incidents of mishaps caused by these rumors have been reported globally. To address this issue, the frontline healthcare providers should be equipped with the most recent research findings and accurate information. The mass media, healthcare organization, community-based organizations, and other important stakeholders should build strategic partnerships and launch common platforms for disseminating authentic public health messages. Also, advanced technologies like natural language processing or data mining approaches should be applied in the detection and removal of online content with no scientific basis from all social media platforms. Furthermore, these practices should be controlled with regulatory and law enforcement measures alongside ensuring telemedicine-based services providing accurate information on COVID-19.

Purpose: To explain the effect of product quality, price perception, online distribution, and social media promotion on attitudes, customer satisfaction, and local brand love. Research design, data and methodology: The population of this study are Indonesians who have purchased local Indonesian brand products. The size of the sample used was 240 people with purposive sampling method. The analytical technique used is Path Analysis using SEM-PLS. Results: product quality, price perception, online distribution have a positive effect on attitudes, but social media promotion has a positive and insignificant effect on consumer attitudes; product quality, price perception, online distribution, and social media promotion have a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction, and attitudes have a positive and significant effect on local brand love; and customer satisfaction has a positive effect on brand love for local brands. Conclusion: Therefore, it is important for local brand product businesses to pay attention to product quality, price perception, online distribution, and social media promotion in order to be able to build positive attitudes, customer satisfaction and ultimately have an impact on local brand love. In online distribution, with online distribution, it is easy for marketers to deliver multimedia content through online methods.
The advancement of information technologies including the Internet has affected the way of social information processing as well as brought about the paradigm shift to the information society. Accordingly, it is very important to study the process of social information processing over the digital media through which social information is generated, distributed, and led to social consensus. In this study, we analyze the mechanism of social information processing, identify a process model of social consensus and institutionalization of the results, and finally propose a set of information processing characteristics on the internet media. We deploy the ethnographic approach to analyze the meaning of group behavior in the context of society to analyze two major events which happened in Korean society. The formation process of social consensus is found to consist of 5 steps: suggestion of social issues, selective reflection on public opinion, acceptance of the issues and diffusion, social consensus, and institutionalization and feedback. The key characteristics of information processing in the Internet is grouped into proactive response to an event, the changes in the role of opinion leader, the flexibility of proposal and analysis, greater scalability, relevance to consensus making, institutionalization and interaction. This study contributes to the literature by proposing a process model of social information processing which can be used as the basis for analyzing the social consensus making process from the social network perspective. In addition, this study suggests a new perspective where the utility of the Internet media can be understood from the social information processing so that other disciplines including politics, communications, and management can improve the decision making performance in utilizing the Internet media.
