  • Social Enterprise (SE) has a vital role to play in helping meet some main commitments for Korea-growing economy; supporting stronger communities; closing opportunity gap-together with the developing a vibrant third sector. The Strategy and action plan is intend to grow and develop us of social enterprise business model in Korea. The sustainable strategy and action plan will be useful for Korea's Social enterprise. This paper will suggest that from the sustainable strategy to action plan of social enterprise in Korea.

  • Since the enactment of Social Enterprise Promotion Act in 2007, the December 2012 was now 801 organizations certified as social enterprise. Social enterprise in urban areas are much more activated, in order to social enterprises in rural areas be activated, what you need to improve and what measures will need to be applied by the practitioners and researchers is a challenge to be reflective. In this study, We searched for ways of social enterprise activation in rural areas, conducted by case study of social enterprise transition probabilities diagnosis and demand survey of local people based in Boseong. For research purposes, this study selects 41 corporate and non-profit organizations in order to examine social enterprise transition probabilities, the potential social enterprise certification, social enterprise-related demand, awareness of sustainability, and local issues.

A Study on Management Competency Affecting Organizational Performance

  • This study is to examine the effects of business management competency, organizational management competency, relationship formation competency, marketing competency, and entrepreneurship, which are perceived by organizational members of social enterprise, on organizational performance, economic performance and social performance. The results of this study are as follows. First, the business management competency of the executives influencing the economic performance, which is the organization performance of the hypothetical social enterprise, was adopted. In other words, the organizational management competency (H1-1), the relationship formation competency (H1-2), the marketing competency (H1-3), and the entrepreneurship (H1-4), which are executive business management competency, have a positive effect on the organizational performance of the social enterprise respectively. Second, Hypothesis 2 indicates that the business management competency of social enterprise executives has a positive effect on organizational performance, social performance, and Hypothesis 2 has been adopted. In other words, the business management competency of the management on the social performance of the social enterprise is in the order of relationship forming competency (H2-2), marketing competency (H2-3), organizationalmanagement competency (H2-1), entrepreneurship (H2-4) Showed high influence. The higher the relationship formation competency, marketing competency, organizational competency, and entrepreneurship, which are the business management competency of the social enterprise management, the economic social performance of the social enterprise is more improved.

  • The aim of this article is suggesting the training system of social enterpriser through the discussion about the promoting of social enterprise to meet the demands of the times. The part of discussion about the promoting of social enterprise addresses the social background, a fundamental concept, directivity, the present condition of social enterprise and the current social enterpriser's training program. The part of proposal about the training system of social enterpriser gives two areas that support social enterprise's establishment and conversion with supply a basic knowledge of social enterprise and deal with expert knowledge and management strategy making preparations as a social enterpriser. These suggestions introduced in the training system should go ahead in phases through the government aids.

Effects of Ethical Management on Organizational Performance in Social Enterprise (사회적기업의 윤리경영이 조직성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of business ethics and ethical leadership on business performance and social performance. For this purpose, we surveyed 173 social enterprise workers in Chungnam and Sejong area. The main results are as follows. Among the sub - factors of ethical management of social enterprise, ethical leadership has a statistically significant effect on social performance and social performance of social enterprise. In other words, as employees' perceptions of ethical leadership of social enterprise managers increase, business performance and social performance increase. In addition, the results of the study show that the work performance of the workers in the social enterprise providing social service is increased. The results were the same as the effects of ethical management on corporate performance in general commercial enterprises. The results of this study confirm the necessity of strengthening social entrepreneurship which has been emphasized in social enterprise. In order to introduce ethical management into social enterprises, the concept of ethical management suitable for social enterprise and application plan should be prepared.

A Study of the Economic and Social Performance of Social Enterprise

  • In this study, It is utilized 103 management panic data about social enterprises in Chungnam area (Chungnam, Daejeon, Sejong) region from 2011 to 2017. The organizational characteristics (organizational type, type of certification, company's region, external grants, paid employees) were set as independent variables with economic performance (sales) and social performance (employment of vulnerable class) as dependent variables. We analyzed the factors affecting the economic and social performance of social enterprises and confirmed the correlation between economic and social performance. The results of this study are as follows: First, the organizational characteristics of social enterprises showed a significant difference in sales as economic performance. External grants have no positive effect on the economic performance (sales) of social enterprises, while paid workers have a positive (+) influence on the economic performance. Second, the organizational characteristics of social enterprises showed significant differences in employment of the vulnerable class, which is social performance. Only the paid workers had a statistically significant relationship with the social performance of the social enterprise. Third, the correlation between economic performance (sales) and social performance (employment of the vulnerable class), which is the result of social enterprise, is shown. This can enhance a social enterprises' sustainable growth and self-sufficiency by improving the employment of vulnerable people, the economic performance of a social enterprise, which is sales and social performance, and ultimately can manifest the value and purpose of the social enterprise.

  • This paper aims to propose the strategy making in social enterprise for ensuring organizational sustainability and governance of social enterprise from systems thinking's perspective. Based on previous reviews on organizational sustainability and theories of governance currently advocated in the social enterprise literature, we use 'Holon Dynamics' approach, which is a synthesis of System Dynamics and Soft Systems Methodology (SSM), offers the problem-solving method for dealing with social contexts and "ill-defined" situations. To do so, a researcher carried out the interpretive action research using 'Holon Dynamics' approach from September, 2009 to August, 2010. The outcomes of research are summarized as follows. Firstly, systems methodologies are useful to offer a strategic choice that makes to achieve an organizational sustainability in the case of Korean social enterprise; 'the Rediscovery of Korea'. Secondly, systems thinking offers an alternative concept of system, which is known as an 'appreciative system' that is evolved from the mental constructs amongst participants in given situations. Lastly, the paper delineates the usefulness of systems thinking and the process of inquiry, which deal with social contexts (including cultural and political factors), are contributed to making the necessary conditions for organizational legitimacy and the appropriate strategic choice for social enterprise within combined functioning of the two roles of social and commercial activities from systemic perspectives.

  • There are many questions about the sustainability and nurture of social enterprises as an important governmental issue in Korea. But because of the social system and the deficiency of experience about social enterprise, the solution of problems included in social enterprise are very difficult. For these reasons, the purpose of this paper is to find critical factors on social enterprise policy in Korea. For this study 30 experts who work in various fields in Busan about social enterprise was selected and 23 valuable questionnaires was collected. And AHP analysis suggests critical factors(public procurement and partnership with corporation and various organizations) on social enterprise policy in Korea. When we consider many realistic problems for the social enterprises, just depending on the passion and dedication of social entrepreneurship is highly insufficient for the sustainability of social enterprises Effective and strategic governmental support for social enterprises will be a great help to the development and sustainability of social enterprises. In this sense, results of this study is meaningful to the social enterprise policy maker.

Social Enterprise Business Operations Experience Converted from Self-Sufficient Enterprise - Based on the Grounded Theory - (자활기업에서 성장한 사회적기업의 기업운영 경험 - 근거이론을 바탕으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to understand social enterprise business operations experience converted from a self-sufficient enterprise. In-depth interviews with representatives of the 4 recycling social enterprises from self-sufficient enterprise which located in Chungbuk province were performed to collect data and analyzed by grounded theory method. As a result, configured 88 concepts and classified into 28 sub-categories 12 categories. According to a paradigm model, Core category, conditions, strategies and consequences were derived from the grounded theory. Especially, the core concept of enterprise management experience of the participants was 'An effort to overcome the harsh business conditions by pursuing sense of community and trying to secure its own competitiveness'. Based on the result, practical and policy proposal for management of the social enterprises were suggested.
