Social Incentives for Cooperative Spectrum Sensing in Distributed Cognitive Radio Networks

  • Cooperative spectrum sensing has been considered as a promising approach to improve the sensing performance in distributed cognitive radio networks. However, there may exist some selfish secondary users (SUs) who are unwilling to cooperate. The presence of selfish SUs could cause catastrophic damage to the performance of cooperative spectrum sensing. Following the social perspective, we propose a Social Tie-based Incentive Scheme (STIS) to deal with the selfish problem for cooperative spectrum sensing in distributed cognitive radio networks. This scheme inspires SUs to contribute sensing information for the SUs who have social tie but not others, and such willingness varies with the strength of social tie value. The evaluation of each SU's social tie derives from its contribution for others. Finally, simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

The Effects of Social Overload on Social Communication in the Social Media Environment (사회적 지지 과부하가 소셜미디어 환경에서의 사회적 소통에 미치는 영향)

  • With the rapid growth of the internet, Social Network Services (SNSs) have played an important role. As the use of SNSs increases, users experience a sense of responsibility to respond to other people's messages or requests, and consequently experience an social overload, feeling too much social support for other users. In this study, we examined the effects of social overload on loneliness and SNS discontinuous usage intention. To verify the research model, data were collected from 83 SNS users and analyzed using SmartPLS, a structural equation modeling tool. The results of this study showed that the communal orientation and the degree of use of SNS influenced the social overload, and the social overload had a significant effect on loneliness and SNS discontinuous usage intention. The findings of this study are expected to help understand the social overload and loneliness in the use of SNS, and may also provide a strategic direction for SNS service providers.

  • Social Learning is a new study model of future knowledge information society. In different existing study, it concentrate on relationship with others and design to connect studying with social effect as a study platform using social media such as Blog, SNS, UCC, Microblog. In my paper, social learning characteristics are described to understand social learning, that is 3 keyword such as context, connectivity, collaboration. Also we investigate social media characteristics and social media how to be used social learning. Also social learning system building method using facebook is presented.

  • Although previous studies on social commerce have provided much insight, more studies in the perspective of social network are needed because social commerce happens within online communities or virtual groups, where buyers connect and interact with each other by sharing information. So, the purpose of this study is to investigate how transactive memory as network characteristic can affect social commerce behavior through social support and relationship quality. We verified the relational effect among social support, relationship quality, and social commerce intention in the Korean market context. Moreover, we found transactive memory capability also played an essential role in the field of social commerce. Specifically, we found consumer's transactive memory capability plays a significant moderating role in the relation between social support and relationship quality.

The Study of Function about Real Life in Children with Cerebral Palsy (뇌성마비아동의 실제생활에서의 기능에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation amongst the social function, communication function, activities of daily living and gross motor function beyond existing research on physical function and functional capacity in cerebral palsy. 43 children with cerebral palsy participated in this study and significant correlations were found among social function, communication function, activities of daily living and gross motor function. The greatest significant correlations were found between social function and activities of daily living. Significant higher correlations were found between items of social function and communication, but were lower between social function and gross motor function. The results showed that we consider the social aspects of function of children with cerebral palsy in the area of rehabilitation in order to focus on the problem in real life.

  • This study empirically analyzed the influence of communication and social support on the organizational immersion of salespeople in cosmetic brand shops in Seoul. Communication and social support were set as independent variables as factors affecting organizational immersion. Communication variables were subordinate variables such as formal communication, communication with supervisor, and communication with colleagues. Sub-variables of social support factors were set as support of superiors and support of colleagues. As a result of the analysis, communication factors such as formal communication, communication with supervisor, communication with colleagues were analyzed as the significant influencing factors on the organizational immersion of workers. The support of supervisor was analyzed as the significant factors influencing the organizational immersion of workers. However, support of colleagues was analyzed as a factor that did not affect the organizational immersion of workers.

  • This study examines the social network of scholars in the field of communication by using author cocitation data. A matrix containing the number of cocited documents between pairs of authors is created for social network analysis of scholars who are on the editorial board of Journal of Communication, and the networked map of the scholars is used to visualize the knowledge structure of the field by identifying groups of authors who are more central than others. In addition, the study compares the previous analysis performed in 2008 and the current analysis on the editorial board of the journal, which increased from 146 to 254 scholars in numbers. Author cocitation data was collected using Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) through the Web of Science database, and UCInet was used to create and visualize the author cocitation network and to analyze the correlation between the cocitation network and the factors that may have affected the structure of the cocitation network.

  • Social learning is a new study model of future knowledge information society. In different existing study, it lay stress on individual activity and collaborative study with others. It is useful to apply social media services to build social learning platform for collaborative study. In my paper, after existing social media services and social platforms are investigated and analyzed, an effective social learning platform applyng social media services is presented. Also differences and superiority compared to other social platforms is presented through new social learning platform architecture and screen design.

The Effects of Hispanics' Social TV Participation on Ethnic Identifications

  • Social television encompasses the social media aspect of television viewing. This study attempts to investigate how social television influences Hispanic and national ethnic identification as well as social presence. Based on the theoretical framework of Tajfel and Turner's Social Identity Theory (SIT), this study focuses on the potential influence of social television on Hispanics' ethnic identifications and social presence. With a sample of 100 Hispanic students, we conducted a lab experiment to measure the effects of exposure to ethnic and non-ethnic related Twitter feeds on Hispanic and national ethnic identification along with social presence. Findings reveal that there was no significant difference between those exposed to the ethnic-identity related Twitter feed compared to those exposed to the non-ethnic identity related Twitter feed, followed by the control group not exposed to the Twitter feed at all. Implications were discussed.

Changes in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder after Theraplay Application

  • Objectives: This study identified changes in social communication and interaction among children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) through Theraplay. Methods: This study included 20 children who were diagnosed with ASD by a child and adolescent psychiatrist and were recommended to undergo Theraplay in 2012-2017. The Marschak interaction method was used to identify and analyze the interactions between parents and their children. The Korean version of the Social Communication Questionnaire (K-SCQ) was used to evaluate symptoms of ASD. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to compare the differences before and after Theraplay. Results: Upon comparing the differences in total K-SCQ scores, there were statistically significant changes (z=-3.269, p=0.001) in children with ASD. Changes were also confirmed in each category, namely social interaction, communication, and limited and repetitive behavior patterns (p=0.011, p=0.025, p=0.039, respectively). Conclusion: This study found that Theraplay may cause significant changes in social communication in children with ASD. Further studies are needed to establish the effectiveness of Theraplay in children with ASD.
