  • In this paper, a smart home service robot McBot II is newly developed in much more practical and intelligent system than McBot I which we had developed a few years ago. Thus far, vacuum-cleaners have lightened the burden of household chores but the operational labor that vacuum-cleaners entail has been very severe. Recently, a cleaning robot was commercialized to solve but it also was not successful because it still had the problem of mess-cleanup, which pertained to the clean-up of large trash and the arrangement of newspapers, clothes, etc. Hence, we develop a new home mess-cleanup robot McBot II to completely overcome this problem on real environments. The mechanical design and the basic control of McBot II, which performs mess-cleanup function etc. in house, is actually focused in this paper. McBot II is mechanically modeled in the same method that the human works in door by using the waist and the hands. The big-ranged vertical lift and the shoulder joints to be able to forward move are mechanically designed for the operating function as the human's waist when the robot works. The mobility of McBot II is designed in the holonomic mobile robot for the collision avoidance of obstacle and the high speed navigation on the small area in door. Finally, good performance of McBot II, which has been optimally desinged, is confirmed through the experimental results for the control of the robotic body, mobility, arms and hands in this paper.

  • Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the home-training app market is growing rapidly and numerous apps are entering the market. It is becoming more difficult for an app to secure the profitability. In this study, by analyzing actual user data of a reward-based home-training app, we propose a model that predicts cash-cow users of the app. Cash-cow users are the users who watch in-stream ads to watch training videos although they cannot earn any rewards by doing so. Thus, these users make profits for the app yet do not incur any costs. The results of this study show that the users who irregularly watch training videos are more likely to be cash-cow users than the users who regularly watch training videos. This result suggests that, paradoxically, for sustainable profitability, home-training apps may need to find a way to retain the users who watch training videos irregularly so that they can be satisfied with the service and continue use the apps.

  • Zigbee, which was a representative standard technology for dealing low energy and mesh networks in large deployment area such as smart home, smart building, and massive sensor networks, has been developed and deployed for increasing communication area by using Ad hoc method. It has been originally developed based on IEEE 802.15.4 standard so every node needs 48bit unique address defined by IEEE. However, it is absolutely inefficient to assign an unique address to every communication node where it would be deployed through large-scale network area, e.g., smart lighting and massive sensor networks, because there could be variously multiple companies to deploy network infrastructure and they could have different policy to assign node ID. To prevent the problem, this paper proposes a method of dynamic PANID assignment in overall Personal Coordinators, and also proposes a method for addressing PANID conflict problem which could be derived from dynamic PANID assignment.

  • In this paper, we describe CAMAR Companoin, a context-aware mobile AR system that provides a user-adaptive assistance with an augmented picture according to the user's context in smart space. It recognizes physical objects and tracks the movement of those objects with a camera embodied to a mobile device. CAMAR Companion observes a mobile user's context, which is sensed by various kinds of sensors in environments, and infers user preference for the content in the situation. It recommends multimedia content relevant to the user's context. It overlays selected content over associated physical objects and enables the user to experience the content in a user-centric manner. Furthermore, we have developed the prototype to illustrate how our system could be used for a mobile user's well-being care applications in smart home environments. In this application, we found that our system could perceive a user preference even though a user's context is changed dynamically, and then adapt the multimedia content with respect to the user's context effectively. As such, the proposed user-adaptive system has the potential to play an important role in developing customized user interfaces in mobile devices.

  • In this paper, the 3D positioning of IoT sensors with the Unity engine of android platform based home-hub was proposde for IoT(Internet of Things) users. Especially, the monitoring of IoT sensor and battery status was designed with the clustering of IoT sensor's position. The 3D positioning of RSSI(received signal strength indicator) and angle for new IoT sensor according to clustering method was described with the cooperation of beacon and received arrival signal time. This unity engine based smart hub platform can monitor the working situation of IoT sensors, and apply 3D video with texture for the life-cycling of many IoT sensors simultaneously. rs was described with RSSI(received signal strength indicator) and received angle.

  • AI products are used 'AI assistants' as embedded in smart phones, speakers, appliances as agents. Studies on anthropomorphism, such as personality, voice with a weak AI are being conducted. Role and function of AI agents will expand from development of AI technology. Various attributes related to the agent, such as user type, usage environment, appearance of the agent will need to be considered. This study intends to categorize interaction factors related to agents from the user's perspective through analysis of concept videos which agents with strong AI. Framework for analysis was built on the basis of theoretical considerations for agents. Concept videos were collected from YouTube. They are analyzed according to perspectives on environment, user, agent. It was categorized into 8 attributes: viewpoint, space, shape, agent behavior, interlocking device, agent interface, usage status, and user interface. It can be used as reference when developing, predicting agents to be commercialized in the future.

  • Smart phones that have lost their existing physical home buttons are being released at the same time, and the flow of users is also changing. The flow is highly subjective and can vary depending on the individual's tendencies. Therefore, this study investigated the change of the flow of smart phone users by Q methodology which is a method of subjectivity research. As a result, the proficiency level of how to turn on the power to start the screen showed a tendency to decrease the flow, and the playability, which is a result of curiosity about the new thing, The results were very positive in the continuity of navigation due to the use of software buttons instead of buttons. Therefore, it can be seen that the change in the hardware smartphone has a positive effect on the flow.

  • The non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) is an important way to cost-effective real-time monitoring the energy consumption and time of use for each appliance in a home or business using aggregated energy from a single recording meter. In this paper, we collect from the smart farm's power consumption data acquisition system to the server via an LTE modem, converted the total power consumption, and the power of individual electric devices into HDF5 format and performed NILM analysis. We perform NILM analysis using open source denoising autoencoder (DAE), long short-term memory (LSTM), gated recurrent unit (GRU), and sequence-to-point (seq2point) learning methods.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between users' expectation and satisfaction through analyzing smart phone voice recognition service and surveying the situational satisfaction of voice recognition service. First, the concept and current status of speech recognition service were investigated through literature research, and the questionnaire survey was carried out through questionnaires based on the second and third principles. As a result, the user is most likely to use the smartphone voice recognition service when making a telephone call. Also, it was found that the service is the most used at home and the service is used most when the hand is not available. Through these results, various methods such as personalization service, condition recognition function, automatic emergency recognition, unlocking by voice could be derived. Based on this research, it is expected that it will be used effectively for improving smartphone voice recognition service and developing wearable device in the future.

  • In this paper, we proposed the novel algorithm which controls the resolution of the HDMI(High Definition Multimedia Interface) by the channel estimation from WiFi-AP(Access Point) in the ISM(Industry-Science-Medical) band. The 2.4 and 5 GHz channel models are widely used since they have identical RF property as RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indication). Especially, the performance degradation of signal-transmission and streaming of WiFi will be occurred by the co-channel interference between AP(Access Point) and increased number of smart devices. Therefore, the optimization scheme of video format timing was designed by HDMI-CEC(Consumer Electronics Control) which considers the transmission speed of radio channel. The HDMI resolution, video quality of home-gateway and digital TV and the decision of PIP position can be maintained by the protocols between smart devices and DLNA(Digital Living Network Alliance) via proposed technique.
