  • In the 4th industrial revolution, research on solving urban problems using ICT technology is emerging. Representatively, research is being conducted mainly focusing on smart cities. 3D geo-spatial. Various case studies on smart cities are being conducted to solve urban problems, and in order to effectively implement smart cities, it is implemented on the basis of a digital twin interconnecting physical and virtual environments. To implement a digital twin, the concept of space is essential, and spatial information that composes the real world is also essential. Therefore, in order to implement the digital twin, this study conducted a study on the construction and modeling of 3D geo-spatial information based on the national spatial information establishment regulations and the international standard CityGML for buildings, water facilities, and transportation facilities in Jeonju. In Jeonju, the research area, the LOD was defined, and the possibility of digital twin based on geo-spatial information was determined through data collection, analysis, and construction for each detail. In this study, it is meaningful that a plan to construct geo-spatial information for the implementation of a digital twin is presented, and the result of the construction is modeled as an urban standard model. The results of study are expected to be used as reference for detailed construction plans and standard establishment by governments and local governments promoting smart city and digital twin construction in the future.

  • In this paper, we introduce a smart city-cyber-security-grid-matrix methodology, as a result of research on overall cyber security of smart cities. The identified cyber security risks that threaten smart cities and smart-city-cyber-security-threat list are presented. The smart-city-cyber-security-requirements necessary to secure the smart city cyber security with the developed smart city-cyber-security-grid-matrix are given in this paper. We show how the developed smart city-cyber-security-grid-matrix methodology can be applied to real world. For it, we interlocked the developed smart city-cyber-security-grid-matrix methodology with the cyber-security-framework of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and developed a framework-based smart city-cyber-security-grid-matrix. Using it, it is easy and comfortable to check the level of cyber security of the target smart ciy at a glace, and the construction and operation of the smart city security system is systematized.

  • Objectives: The utility of the system was analyzed by applying the smart safety technology system to the aging pipe rehabilitation facility construction classified as a confined space. Methods: Smart safety management system was applied to a site where the aging pipe rehabilitation work was in progress. The working environment was measured for 25 days, and the toxic gas saturation was analyzed according to the working time and working place. Results: Based on the measured results, two characteristic environmental changes in the confined space were confirmed. First, when working inside an aging pipe, the tendency of carbon dioxide saturation increases with working time and the number of workers. Second, oxygen decreases when working in a space away from the entrance. Conclusions: Various applications of smart safety technology have been confirmed based on the measured data, and this is expected to be useful for environmental characteristic analysis and safety management when applied to a confined space composed with various conditions in the future.

  • To investigate the national science and technology policy direction in the field of construction machinery, an analysis was conducted on projects selected as national research and development (R&D) initiatives by the government. Assuming that the project titles contain key keywords, text mining was employed to substantiate this assumption. Project information data spanning nine years from 2014 to 2022 was collected through the National Science & Technology Information Service (NTIS). To observe changes over time, the years were divided into three-year sections. To analyze research trends efficiently, keywords were categorized into groups: 'equipment,' 'smart,' and 'eco-friendly.' Based on the collected data, keyword frequency analysis, N-gram analysis, and topic modeling were performed. The research findings indicate that domestic government R&D in the construction machinery field primarily focuses on smart-related research and development. Specifically, investments in monitoring systems and autonomous operation technologies are increasing. This study holds significance in analyzing objective research trends through the utilization of big data analysis techniques and is expected to contribute to future research and development planning, strategic formulation, and project management.

  • Recently, various efforts have been tried in the construction industry to improve productivity by applying the fourth industrial revolution technology. Among the various technologies, researches for the automation and digitization of earthworks are being carried out steadily. As the interest in the benefits of digitalization of the earthwork field has increased, there have been more cases of technology development and application for digitalization of the earthwork field. However, there is not enough case study to present the analysis results of application cases. The purpose of this study is to verify the feasibility of applying the digitization technology of the earthwork in actual worksite. In order to digitize the worksite terrain, it is required the process of field measurement, measurement data registration, earthwork information input, and analysis cell generation. Particularly, it is possible to achieve information-enabled digitization rather than digitalizing only the shape through the input of the earthwork information and the analysis cell generation. By using the digital information of the earthwork field, it is possible to visually recognize the change of the earthwork field, so that it is expected to enhance the worker 's understanding and to be highly applicable to the management work. It is expected that the digital technology of earthwork site will be able to know the precise amount of volume change of the earthwork numerically, and it will be highly applicable to construction management.

  • This study aims to provide power monitoring system for super tall buildings with 3D BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology. In order to realize this subject, standard specifications for BIM objects and attributes were studied through analyzing processes and elements of electrical utilities for power management systems applied for super tall buildings. These standard BIM specifications could be used by designers, contractors and facility operators, and thus could be helpful to realize BIM information sharing between multiple disciplines and construction phases. And further study has been suggested to develop standard specification and applications from this study.

  • Numerical analysis of frost heave is challenging due to the influence of soil and environmental factors. Thermo-hydromechanical coupled analysis relies heavily on excessive input variables and primarily focuses on validating clayey soils, so it is limited to frost susceptible silty soils. An empirical approach based on thermodynamics offers relatively simple frost heave analysis and the advantage of linking constitutive equations with frost heave to enable geomechanical interpretations. In this paper, we introduce an empirical numerical model using the Segregation Potential (SP) and evaluate reliability through comparative analysis with experimental results of frost susceptible silty soils. While the SP model enables frost heave analysis for the given silty soils, further investigation on various silty soils is necessary to gather data on key input variables.

  • Lunar ice is a resource available for future human exploration in deep space and long-term extraterrestrial habitat. However, the origin and nature of lunar ice remains unclear. In addition to remote sensing, international space agencies are competitively planning and conducting missions for lunar surface exploration to determine the existence and resource extent of lunar ice. If a sufficient amount of lunar ice is confirmed, its future in-situ resource utilization is expected to be greatly beneficial. However, due to ice extraction, settlement may occur, which should be taken into account from a geotechnical engineering perspective. Herein, experimental investigations of the potential settlement caused by lunar ice extraction were conducted and different textures of lunar ice were simulated. Consequently, it was confirmed that significant settlement occurs even at the initial water content of ~10% in lunar regolith simulant-ice-mixed soil.
