  • Purpose: To solve urban problems, empirical research is being actively conducted to implement a smart city based on various ICT technologies, and digital twin technology is needed to effectively implement a smart city. A digital twin is essential for the realization of a smart city. A digital twin is a virtual environment that intuitively visualizes multidimensional data in the real world based on 3D. Digital twin is implemented on the premise of the convergence of GIS and BIM, and in particular, a lot of time is invested in data pre-processing and labeling in the data construction process. In digital twin, data quality is prioritized for consistency with reality, but there is a limit to data inspection with the naked eye. Therefore, in order to improve the required time and quality of digital twin construction, it was attempted to detect a building using Mask R-CNN, a deep learning-based masking algorithm for aerial images. If the results of this study are advanced and used to build digital twin data, it is thought that a high-quality smart city can be realized.

  • Recently, a number of foreign electric power companies including domestic Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) have actively engaged in the construction of a power grid with the concept of a smart grid. The Smart grid is a technology that increases the efficiency of the power by converging the information network with the power grid. It can maximize the energy efficiency through the two-way communication between the utility and the consumer. However, as the power grid converges with the information and communication network, security threats are increasing more than existing power grids. Due to the nature of the power grid, the damage caused by security threats is not only personal privacy but also economic loss of society. So smart grid becomes the target of hackers. In this paper, we discuss security vulnerabilities of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), which is a core technology of smart grid construction, and the corresponding security technologies to prevent security damage of smart grid.

  • A Smart factories are systems that enable quick response to customer demands, reduce defect rates, and maximize productivity. They have evolved from manual labor-intensive processes to automation and now to cyber-physical systems with the help of information and communication technology. However, many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are still unable to implement even the initial stages of smart factories due to various environmental and economic constraints. Additionally, there is a lack of awareness and understanding of the concept of smart factories. To address this issue, the Cooperation-based Smart Factory Construction Support Project was launched. This project is a differentiated support project that provides customized programs based on the size and level of the company. Research has been conducted to analyze the impact of this project on participating and non-participating companies. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of the support policy and suggest efficient measures for improvement. Furthermore, the research aims to provide direction for future support projects to enhance the manufacturing competitiveness of SMEs. Ultimately, the goal is to improve the overall manufacturing industry and drive innovation.

  • This study is intended to propose a precast bridge deck system, which has ribbed loop joints between the decks and lacks internal tendons to improve the workability of existing precast deck system. A composite bridge deck specimen was fabricated using the proposed precast deck system, and static and fatigue load tests were conducted to evaluate the structural behavior and the crack pattern of the deck. Leakage test of the deck joints was also conducted and finite element analysis was carried out to compare with the test results.

  • Through the Korean version of the New Deal 2.0, manufacturing-oriented SMEs are facing a new environmental change called smart factory construction. In addition, SMEs are facing new security threats along with a contactless environment due to COVID-19. However, it is practically impossible to apply the previously researched and developed security management system to protect the core technology of manufacturing-oriented SMEs due to the lack of economic capacity of SMEs. Therefore, through research on security management systems suitable for SMEs, it is necessary to strengthen their business competitiveness and ensure sustainability through proactive responses to security threats faced by SMEs. The security management system presented in this study is a security management system to prevent technology leakage applicable to SMEs by deriving and reflecting the minimum security requirements in consideration of technology protection point of view, smart factory, and remote access in a non-contact environment. It is also designed in a modular form. The proposed security management system is standardized and can be selectively used by SMEs.

  • Recently, research and development to revitalize smart construction are being actively carried out. Accordingly, 3D mapping technology that digitizes construction site is drawing attention. To create a 3D digital map for construction site a point cloud generation method based on LiDAR(Light detection and ranging) using MMS(Mobile mapping system) is mainly used. The purpose of this study is to analyze the accuracy of MMS LiDAR-based point cloud data. As a result, accuracy of MMS point cloud data was analyzed as dx = 0.048m, dy = 0.018m, dz = 0.045m on average. In future studies, accuracy comparison of point cloud data produced via UAV(Unmanned aerial vegicle) photogrammetry and MMS LiDAR should be studied.

  • In recent construction research, the focus has primarily been on developing 3D printers and construction-specific materials. 3D printing technology in construction is growing rapidly due to its potential benefits. However, there's a notable lack of research on the fire performance of 3D Printed Concrete (3DPC) walls. This study addresses this gap by investigating how 3DPC walls respond to controlled heating conditions in a simplified test. The research aims to provide crucial insights into the behavior of 3D-printed mortar composite walls when exposed to fire. The findings have the potential to enhance safety and reliability in 3D printing technology within the construction industry. Furthermore, it could contribute to improving the fire safety standards of architectural structures and expand the use of 3D printing in future construction projects.

  • Crushers are equipment that crush natural stones, to produce aggregates used at construction sites. As the crusher proceeds, the inner liner becomes worn, causing the size of the aggregate produced to gradually increase. The vision sensor-based aggregate analysis system analyzes the size and distribution of aggregates in production, in real time through image analysis. This study developed an algorithm that can segmentate aggregates in images in real time. using image preprocessing technology combining various filters and morphology techniques, and aggregate region characteristics such as convex hull and concave hull. We applied the developed algorithm to fine aggregate, intermediate aggregate, and thick aggregate images to verify their performance.

  • Blast furnace revamping in steel industry is one of the most important work to complete the complicated equipment within a short period of time based on the interfaces of various types of work. P company has planned to build a Smart Tracking System based on the wireless tag system with the aim of complying with the construction period and reducing costs, ahead of the revamping of blast furnace scheduled for construction in February next year. It combines the detailed design data with the wireless recognition technology to grasp the stage status of design, storage and installation. Then, it graphically displays the location information of each member in relation to the plan and the actual status in connection with Building Information Modeling (BIM) 4D Simulation. QR Code is used as a wireless tag in order to check the receiving status of core equipment considering the characteristics of each item. Then, DB in server system is built, status information is input. By implementing BIM 4D Simulation data using DELMIA, the information on location and status is provided. As a feature of the S/W function, a function for confirming the items will be added to the cellular phone screen in order to improve the accuracy of tagging of the items. Accuracy also increases by simultaneous processing of storage and location tagging. The most significant effect of building this system is to minimize errors in construction by preventing erroneous operation of members. This system will be very useful for overall project management because the information about the position and progress of each critical item can be visualized in real time. It could be eventually lead to cost reduction of project management.
