A Key-Frame Extraction Method based on HSV Color Model for Smart Vehicle Management System (스마트 차량 관리 시스템을 위한 HSV 색상모델 기반의 키 프레임 추출 기법)

  • Currently, registered number of imported vehicles is increasing rapidly over the years. Accordingly, environment improvements of vehicle maintenance company for maintenance of luxury vehicle such as imported vehicle are continuously being made. In this paper, we propose a key frame extraction method based on HSV color model for smart vehicle management system implementation to offer for customer reliability of maintenance vehicle. After automatically recognize the license plates of the vehicle using vehicle license plate recognition system when the vehicle come in the car center, we check the repair history and request of the vehicle based on it. We implement mobile services which provide extracted key frame images to the user after extract key frames from vehicle repair video. In addition, we verify the superiority of key frame extraction method by applying a smart vehicle management system. Finally, we convert the RGB color to HSV color to improve the performance of proposed key frame extraction scheme. As a result, we confirmed that our scheme is more excellence about 30% in terms of recall than RGB color model from the performance evaluations.

  • The major objective of this research is to evaluate performance of improved intersections for response time to emergency vehicle preemption. Smart technologies have been introduced to civil infrastructure systems for resilient communities. The technologies need to evaluate their effectiveness and feasibility to confirm their introduction. This research focuses on the performance of emergency vehicle preemption, represented by response time, when smart intersections are introduced in a community. The response time is determined by not only intersections but also a number of factors such as traffic, distance, road conditions, and incident types. However, the evaluation of emergency response has often ignored factors related to emergency vehicle routes. In this respect, this research synthetically analyzes geospatial and incident data using each route of emergency vehicle and conducts before-and-after evaluations. The changes in performance are analyzed by the impact of smart intersections on response time through Bayesian regression models. The result provides measures of the project's performance. This study will contribute to the body of knowledge on modeling the impacts of technology application and integrating heterogeneous data sets. It will provide a way to confirm and prove the effectiveness of introducing smart technologies to our communities.

Anomaly detection of smart metering system for power management with battery storage system/electric vehicle

  • A novel smart metering technique capable of anomaly detection was proposed for real-time home power management system. Smart meter data generated in real-time were obtained from 900 households of single apartments. To detect outliers and missing values in smart meter data, a deep learning model, the autoencoder, consisting of a graph convolutional network and bidirectional long short-term memory network, was applied to the smart metering technique. Power management based on the smart metering technique was executed by multi-objective optimization in the presence of a battery storage system and an electric vehicle. The results of the power management employing the proposed smart metering technique indicate a reduction in electricity cost and amount of power supplied by the grid compared to the results of power management without anomaly detection.

  • As Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle and Electric Vehicle (PHEV/EV) take a greater share in the personal automobile market, their high penetration levels may bring potential challenges to electric utility especially at the distribution level. Thus, there is a need for the flexible charging management strategy to compromise the benefits of both PHEV/EV owners and power grid side. There are many different management methods that depend on the objective function and the constraints caused by the system. In this paper, the schema and dispatching schedule of centralized PHEV/EV charging spot network are analyzed. Also, we proposed and compared three power allocation strategies for centralized charging spot. The first strategy aims to maximize state of vehicles at plug-out time, the rest methods are equalized allocation and prioritized allocation based on vehicles SoC. The simulation results show that each run of the optimized algorithms can produce the satisfactory solutions to response properly the requirement from PHEV/EV customers.

A Local Path Planning for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle on the Battlefield of Dynamic Threats (동적인 위협이 존재하는 전장에서의 무인 항공기 지역경로계획)

  • An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is a powered aerial vehicle that does not carry a human operator, uses aerodynamic forces to provide vehicle lift, can fly autonomously or be piloted remotely, can be expendable or recoverable, and can carry a lethal or non-lethal payload. An UAV is very important weapon system and is currently being employed in many military missions (surveillance, reconnaissance, communication relay, targeting, strike, etc.) in the war. To accomplish UAV's missions, guarantee of survivability should be preceded. The main objective of this study is a local path planning to maximize survivability for UAV on the battlefield of dynamic threats (obstacles, surface-to-air missiles, radar etc.). A local path planning is capable of producing a new path in response to environmental changes. This study suggests a $Smart$ $A^*$ (Smart A-star) algorithm for local path planning. The local path planned by $Smart$ $A^*$ algorithm is compared with the results of existing algorithms ($A^*$ $Replanner$, $D^*$) and evaluated performance of $Smart$ $A^*$ algorithm. The result of suggested algorithm gives the better solutions when compared with existing algorithms.

  • A smart parking management requires to track a vehicle in a indoor parking lot and to detect the place where the vehicle is parked. An advanced parking system watches all space of the parking lot with CCTV cameras. We can use these cameras for vehicles tracking and detection. In order to cover a wide area with a camera, a fisheye lens is used. In this case the shape and size of an moving vehicle vary much with distance and angle to the camera. This makes vehicle detection and tracking difficult. In addition to the fisheye lens, the vehicle headlights also makes vehicle detection and tracking difficult. This paper describes a method of realtime vehicle detection and tracking robust to the harsh situation described above. In each image frame, we update the region of a vehicle and estimate the vehicle movement. First we approximate the shape of a car with a quadrangle and estimate the four sides of the car using multiple histograms of oriented gradient. Second we create a template by applying a distance transform to the car region and estimate the motion of the car with a template matching method.

  • There are many economical and industrial as well as social demands enabling smart management of railway vehicle including parts management by introducing RFID system in railway vehicle. In this paper, overseas researches and developments which use cases of RFID were investigated and analyzed. In this process, cases of various industries adopting RFID technology as well as cases of railway part were investigated. RFID system is used mainly for railway vehicle position detection and identification of vehicles in the field of railway. Also there are cases of application on traceability management of railway vehicle parts. The system in which RFID technology can be applied to railway parts management and traceability management is necessary for smart management of domestic railway vehicle.

  • The purpose of this paper is to present Smart Virtual TRS(Trunked Radio System) service that gives the TRS function in mobile network with smart phone application and server. TRS is essential equipment of logistics vehicle so, most of trunk drivers uses TRS frequently. Developed service is based on smartphone without TRS equipment. Therefore, Smart virtual TRS included in TMS(Transportation Management System) has some effects for logistics company. i) Smart Virtual TRS gives better communication environment between office and drivers. ii) Smartphone App gives flexibility to TMS functions. iii) Smart Virtual TRS gives cost reduction effect.

  • Smart grid can two-way communication using ICT(Information & Communication Technology). Also, smart grid can supply to dynamic power that grafted to electric vehicle can activate to electric vehicle charging infrastructure and used to storage battery of home. Storage battery of home can resale to power provider. These electric vehicle charging infrastructure locate fixed on home, apartment, building, etc charging infrastructure that used fluid on user. If don't authentication for user of fluid user use to charging infrastructure, electric charging service can occurred to illegal use, electric charges and leakgage of electric information. In this paper, we propose smartcard and dynamic ID based user authentication scheme for used secure to electric vehicle service in smart grid environment.

  • The Next-generation IT technology has been evolving from single technique to another which has merged, converging characteristics. The government categorized the 5 essential technologies to secure competitiveness in designing system semiconductors as smart motor vehicle info-tainment platform, smart TV multimedia system, smart phone analog interface technique, smart convergence digital communication and RF techniques, and advanced power management for smart devices. Also, it designated smart phone, smart TV, smart motor vehicle, and smart pad as the key industries. Such core techniques will become the key technologies of semiconductor design to secure the competitiveness of the next generation smart devices and the techniques can be transferred to fab-less design companies. In this contribution, we analyze the issues and the problems of the SoC design trends for smart motor vehicle info-tainment platforms.
