  • These-days technology related to IoT (Internet of Thing) is widely used and there are many types of smart system based IoT like smart health, smart building and so on. In smart health system, it is possible to check someone's health by analyzing data from wearable IoT device like smart watch. Smart building system aims to collect data from sensor such as humidity, temperature, human counter like that and control the building for energy efficiency, security, safety and so forth. Furthermore, smart city system can comprise several smart systems like smart building, smart health, smart mobility, smart energy and etc. In this paper, we propose multimedia IoT based intelligent emergency alarm system for smart city. In existing IoT based smart system, it communicates lightweight data like text data. In the past, due to network's limitations lightweight IoT protocol was proposed for communicating data between things but now network technology develops, problem which is to communicate heavy data is solving. The proposed system obtains video from IP cameras/CCTVs, analyses the video by exploiting AI algorithm for detecting emergencies and prevents them which cause damage or death. If emergency is detected, the proposed system sends warning message that emergency may occur to people or agencies. We built prototype of the intelligent emergency alarm system based on MQTT and assured that the system detected dangerous situation and sent alarm messages. From the test results, it is expected that the system can prevent damages of people, nature and save human life from emergency.

  • In this paper, we introduce the UTOPIA Smart City Security Management System which manages a user authentication for smart cities. Because the smart city management system should take care of huge number of users and services, and various kinds of resources and facilities, and they should be carefully controlled, we need a specially designed security management system. UTOPIA is a smart city system based on ICT(Information and Communication Technology), and it has a three tier structure of UTOPIA portal system, UTOPIA processing system and UTOPIA infrastructure system. The UTOPIA processing system uses the smart city middleware named SmartUM. The UTOPIA Smart City Security Management System is implemented in the application security layer, which is the top layer of the SmartUM middleware, and the infrastructure security layer, which is the lowest layer. The UTOPIA Smart City security management system is built on the premise that it supports all existing user authentication technologies. This paper introduces the application security layer and describes the authentication management in the application security layer.

  • Smart home and artificial intelligence technologies are developing rapidly, and various smart home systems associated with artificial intelligence (AI) improved the quality of living for people. In the present research, we examine the role of individuals' motivational system in their responses to the application of AI in smart homes. In particular, this research focuses on individuals' prevention motivational system and investigates whether individuals' attitudes toward the application of AI in smart homes differ according to their level of prevention motivation. Specifically, it is hypothesized that individuals with strong (vs. weak) prevention motivation will have more favorable attitudes toward the application of AI in smart homes. Consistent with the hypothesis, the results reveal that the respondents in the strong (vs. weak) prevention motivation reported significantly more favorable attitudes toward the six types of AI-based application in smart homes (e.g., AIbased AR/VR games, AI pet care system, AI robots, etc.). Our findings suggest that individuals' prevention motivational system may be an effective market segmentation tool in facilitating their positive responses to the application of AI in smart homes.

  • A new paradigm based on distributed manufacturing services is emerging. This paradigm shift can be realized by smart functions and smart technologies such as Cyber Physical System (CPS), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Cloud Computing. Most architectures define stack levels from Level 0 (equipment) to Level 4 (business area) and specify the services to be provided between them. Because of their a rough technical specification, there is a limitation on how to actually utilize a technology to actually implement a smart factory service with this architecture. In this paper, we propose a smart factory architecture that can be utilized directly from the perspective of a smart service system by making the use of System Engineering Process and System Modeling Language (SysML).

  • A smart dust monitoring system is useful for obtaining information on rough terrain that is difficult for humans to access. One of ways to deploy sensors to gather information in smart dust environment is to use an aircraft in the Amazon rainforest to scatter an enormous amount of small and cheap sensors (or smart dust devices), or to use an unmanned spacecraft to throw the sensors on the moon's surface. However, scattering an enormous amount of smart dust devices creates the difficulty of managing such devices as they can be scattered into inaccessible areas, and also causes problems such as bottlenecks, device failure, and high/low density of devices. Of the various problems that may occur in the smart dust environment, this paper is focused on solving the bottleneck problem. To address this, we propose and construct a three-layered hierarchical smart dust monitoring system that includes relay dust devices (RDDs). An RDD is a smart dust device with relatively higher computing/communicating power than a normal smart dust device. RDDs play a crucial role in reducing traffic load for the system. To validate the proposed system, we use climate data obtained from authorized portals to compare the system with other systems (i.e., non-hierarchical system and simple hierarchical system). Through this comparison, we determined that the transmission processing time is reduced by 49%-50% compared to other systems, and the maximum number of connectable devices can be increased by 16-32 times without compromising the system's operations.

  • A 3D CAD system that can be used on a smart device is proposed. Smart devices are now a part of everyday life and also are widely being used in various industry domains. The proposed 3D CAD system would allow modeling in a rapid and intuitive manner on a smart device when an engineer makes a 3D model of a product while moving in an engineering site. There are several obstacles to develop a 3D CAD system on a smart device such as low computing power and the small screen of smart devices, imprecise touch inputs, and transfer problems of created 3D models between PCs and smart devices. The author discusses the system design of a 3D CAD system on a smart device. The selection of the modeling operations, the assignment of touch gestures to these operations, and the construction of a geometric kernel for creating both meshes and a procedural CAD model are introduced. The proposed CAD system has been implemented for validation by user tests and to demonstrate case studies using test examples. Using the proposed system, it is possible to produce a 3D editable model swiftly and simply in a smart device environment to reduce design time of engineers.
