  • As the number of objects connected to the Internet increases rapidly, intelligent device development projects are gradually expanding that provide direct value to humans, away from simple monitoring functions, including sensors and communication functions, or delivery to servers.It is expected that the device will develop a technology that analyzes surrounding sensing information and changes the surrounding environment in consideration of users' preferences or safety. By establishing a biosignal measurement system in a developed product that can bring various effects using air, it will be possible to grasp the user's condition through a pattern of change in pressure distribution when seated. This paper proposes a construction system that enhances the comfort of using an air car seat through contact between a temperature measurement sensor and a user, and enables effective management of measured biosignals by linking them with an air pump control system.

Electronic Attendance System Using Smart Device and High Frequency Signal

  • Recently, many universities have used various electronic attendance systems such as NFC, QR code, Sound-QR, Bluetooth BLE authentication, and face recognition to process attendance. However, existing methods have various problems such as attendance errors due to deformation of authentication signals, mis-recognition attendance from outside the classroom, and difficulty to process seat absence during class. Therefore, this study proposes a high-frequency signal-based electronic attendance system to solve these problems and manage more accurate electronic attendance. As the high-frequency signal replaces the BLE signal, and the transmission range of the signal is limited to the classroom, and the signal value can be immediately changed if a change of the signal is needed. To verify the performance of the proposed system, we conducted a comparative experiment with the Bluetooth based electronic attendance system, and as a result, the proposed method showed high accuracy. Thus, the proposed method will be a useful service that can be immediately used in smart device-based electronic attendance system.

  • Due to the development of communication technology and expansion of Intelligent Transport System (ITS), the car is changing from a simple mechanical device to second living space which has comprehensive convenience function and is evolved into the platform which is playing as an interface for this role. As the interface area to provide various information to the passenger is being expanded, the research importance about smart car based user experience is rising. This study has a research objective to propose the guidelines regarding the smart car user experience elements. In order to conduct this study, smart car user experience elements were defined as function, interaction, and surface and through the discussions of UX/UI experts, 8 representative techniques, 14 representative techniques, and 8 locations of the glass windows were specified for each element. Following, the smart car users' priorities of the experience elements, which were defined through targeting 100 drivers, were analyzed in the form of questionnaire survey. The analysis showed that the users' priorities in applying the main techniques were in the order of safety, distance, and sensibility. The priorities of the production method were in the order of voice recognition, touch, gesture, physical button, and eye tracking. Furthermore, regarding the glass window locations, users prioritized the front of the driver's seat to the back. According to the demographic analysis on gender, there were no significant differences except for two functions. Therefore this showed that the guidelines of male and female can be commonly applied. Through user requirement analysis about individual elements, this study provides the guides about the requirement in each element to be applied to commercialized product with priority.

A Study on Technology Acceptance of Elderly living Alone in Smart City Environment: Based on AI Speaker

  • Purpose: This study is to examine the intention of the elderly who live alone in the customized AI speaker for the elderly living alone to improve the quality of life service for the elderly living alone in the smart city environment. Based on the quality of life model of the elderly, this study is applied to the technology acceptance model to investigate the relationship between perceived usefulness and ease of use on the sustained use intention. Research design, data and methodology: Residents in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, selected as candidate local governments for the Smart City Challenge Project of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in June 2019 to measure the perceived technology acceptance of potential users for the AI technology for the elderly living alone as part of the smart city technology. In order to evaluate the intention of using AI speaker, which is the target system of this study, a video of a chatbot using experience of elderly people living alone was produced. Results: First of all, in order for the elderly living alone to have an attitude to use AI-based speakers, there should be a perceived usefulness of the quality of life of the elderly. However, ease of use did not show any significant causal relationship to attitude toward use. In addition, the attitude toward use weakly influenced the intention to use. In other words, elderly people living alone were not likely to have a significant effect on their attitude toward use. However, feeling that AI speakers are easy to use will help to improve the quality of life, which in turn led to the attitude toward using AI speakers, which could lead to indirect effects. Finally, the perceived usefulness of quality of life was found to have a weak effect on direct use intentions. Conclusions: This study conducted a study on the technology acceptance of service environment to improve the quality of life for the specific user group who live alone in the smart seat environment. In this study, we examined the effects of AI speaker on the elderly living alone to improve the quality of life for the elderly living alone.

Study on a Smart Cane for the Visually Impaired utilizing ESP32-CAM for Enhanced Safety (안전성 강화를 위한 ESP32-CAM을 활용한 시각장애인용 스마트지팡이에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, research was conducted to prevent various safety accidents that may occur from infant carriages carrying children and to make the use of infant carriages easier. In order to prevent the baby car from running without protection, a brake function is installed on the baby car wheels using a pressure sensor and a servo motor. Then, a pressure sensor and LCD are used to determine whether the seat belt is fastened to prevent the child from falling out of the baby car. In addition, it was designed to use LCD and LED to turn on a warning light when the temperature and humidity exceed a certain level, so that infants can be in a comfortable environment when using the baby car.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a system capable of restoring the seismic performance of a precast concrete (PC) connection damaged by an earthquake. The developed PC connection consists of a top-and-seat angle, post-tensioning (PT) tendons, and U-shaped steel. The PC beam can be replaced by cutting the PT tendons in the event of damage. In addition, the seismic performance of the developed PC beam-column connection was evaluated experimentally. A PC beam-column connection specimen was fabricated, and a quasistatic cyclic loading test was conducted to a maximum drift ratio of 2.3%. Subsequently, the PC beam was replaced by a new PC beam, and the repaired PC connection was loaded to a maximum drift ratio of 5.1%. The structural performance of the repaired PC connection was then compared with that of the original PC connection. The difference in the load at the drift ratio of 2.3% between the original and the repaired PC specimens was only 0.2%. The residual drift ratio in the repaired PC specimen did not exceed 1.0% at the 2.0 % drift ratio cycles, which satisfies the life safety performance level specified in ACI 374.2R-13. When the developed PC connection system is used, structural performance can be restored by rapidly replacing the damaged elements.

Design for AEBS Test Scenario Applying Domestic Traffic Accidents

  • This study is a study on the development of AEBS test scenarios for traffic accidents in Korea, and was compared and analyzed using the Traffic Accident Analysis Program. To ensure the safety of passengers and pedestrians in traffic accidents, the number of cars equipped with ADAS is increasing rapidly at all car manufacturers in each country. For traffic accidents used in this study, the domestic traffic accident database (ACCC) produced by SAMSONG was used. Domestic traffic accidents differ from overseas traffic accidents in terms of road type, signal system, driver's seat location and number of vehicles. ACCC databases, which supplemented and reinforced these differences, built a database based on the PC-CRASH program. In the study, we analyze the types of accidents to develop comparative scenarios for each type of road and collision type of traffic accidents. When the road types of traffic accidents in Korea were divided into five types and the collision types were divided into six, it was confirmed that the most types of FRONT-SIDE crashes appeared at the intersection. It is expected that the frequency of possible traffic accidents and collision types can be predicted according to the road type in the accident database, we that it can be used as an AEBS test scenario development suitable for the domestic road environment.

  • In this paper, research was conducted to prevent various safety accidents that may occur from infant vehicles carrying children and to use infant vehicles easier. In order to prevent the infant vehicle from driving without protection, a brake function is mounted on the infant vehicle wheels using a pressure sensor and a sub motor, and a pressure sensor and an LCD are used to determine whether a seat belt is fastened to prevent the infant from falling from the infant vehicle. In addition, it is designed to turn on the warning light when exceeding a certain temperature and humidity using LCD and LED so that infants can be in a pleasant environment when using a baby vehicle.

  • Recently, there have been frequent incidents of talent accidents caused by youth driving without a license. Driving without a license is becoming a hotbed of curiosity and challenge for some young people, and there is a limit to managing smart keys at home to prevent this. Therefore, in this paper, using the facial recognition algorithm, the face of the driver sitting in the driver's seat is compared with the information stored in advance, and the system is designed to control the engine by determining that it is a registered driver. If the registered driver authentication is successful, the matching accuracy and Unlock message are output to the LCD connected to the Raspberry Pi.

  • Due to un-balancing weight allocation on the wheelchair the existing wheelchair system are faced with the risk of flipping or falling when a wheelchair goes up to a hill. In to order to be safer during riding the wheelchair, in this paper, we proposed a real-time new solution using the integrated Gyro Sensor and Tilt Sensor for controlling the balance. Because the typical property of wheelchair is for the special user who meets the difficulty in moving on foot the maintain the balance of wheel-chair systems have become important and helpful. In our method, we calculate the seat angle using information from Tilt Sensor. However, due to the law of inertia when a wheelchair is moving there is a deviation in the output value of Tilt Sensor. Therefore, we have to optimize the value of the angle by utilizing the acceleration that is the output of the Gyro Sensor. We took the advantages by using the combination of Gyro and Tilt sensors. Moreover, we also solved the consumption issue of the whole system. Through various experimentations with usage of ZigBee sensor module, the power consumption for the balancing system is reduced significantly.
