  • Overseas advanced ports are promoting smartification, as well as full automation of the terminals surrounding container terminals. A smart port can be defined as a comprehensive concept that pursues increased operational efficiencies, maximization of profit, efficient use of energy, and construction of eco-friendly ports with the introduction of fourth-industrial-revolution technology, including port automation. However, Korea is making efforts to introduce fourth-industrial-revolution technology into ports, but indications are that they are somewhat insufficient compared to advanced ports abroad. Therefore, this study conducted a survey about operators and users of container terminals in Gwangyang Port by deriving the factors determining the introduction of smart ports, such as cost, service, time, safety, and environment, from previous studies. This study analyzed the factors determining the introduction of smart ports and moderating effects when the adjustment variables of operators and users were applied to the pros and cons. As a result of the analysis, it was found that port operators and users have a moderating effect on cost, time, safety, and environmental factors, but not on service factors. These results indicate that port operators try to reduce costs through efficient operation, time management, and by reducing safety accidents by building smart ports, but analysis showed that the negative effects of smart ports have affected port users. The results of this study were derived through a moderated regression analysis and suggested implications for introducing smart ports in the conclusion.

  • Recently, with increasing container ships' volume continuously, the conceptual design "Smart Harbor" of newly logistics processing system has been suggested. It is necessary to estimate resistance and horsepower for the selection of an appropriate propulsor at the initial design stage of Smart Harbor. In this study, CFD and the circulating water channel of the University of Ulsan are employed for estimating the resistance of the Smart Harbor Crane Ship with 1/100 scaled model. Two turbulent models are used. One is realizable k-${\varepsilon}$and the other is Reynolds stress turbulence model. In addition, the effects of the change in y+ and the number of meshes are considered during analysing.

  • Recently, GTO's rate of return to investment is decreasing. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to analyze empirically on enhancement of competitiveness of global port container terminal. This study deals with the terms of three competitiveness enhancement factors which are a GTO's subjective factors, a management environment factors, and a government policy factors. According to analysis results of the three competitiveness enhancement factors, a GTO's subjective factors(4.21 score) are scored at the most ones of competitiveness enhancement factors of GTO, to be compared with a management environment factors(3.94 score). with a government policy factors(3.90 score). Therefore, first of all, it is important to enhance competitiveness of GTO through as follows, a GTO's subjective factors : (1) to procure local and tranship cargo volume, (2) to promote port logistics service, (3) to retain resonable port rate by promoting terminal productivity, (4) to procure container ship firms and alliance. And, the next, we have to enhance GTO's competitiveness through considering a management environment factors, that is, fluctuation of container cargo volume, port awareness, whether function of hub port, etc., and a government policy factors, that is, smart policy of port development, smart policy of port rate, incentive policy for procuring tranship cargo, etc.

  • Recently, as the Windows system supports the Windows subsystem for Linux (WSL), various researchers have studied to apply a docker container on various systems such as server systems, workstation system and so on. However, in various existing researchers, there is a lack of performance-related indicators to apply the system to each operating system (linux system and windows system). In this paper, we compared a performance comparison and analysis of container-based host operating systems. We configured experimental environments of operating systems for microsoft windows systems and linux systems based on a docker container support. In experimental results, the containers of linux systems reduced the average data latency of dataset 1-6 by 3.9%, 62.16%, 1552.38%, 7.27%, 60.83%, and 1567.2%, compared to the containers on microsoft windows systems.

  • IoT, Big-data, AI, and Cloud technologies, which are core technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution, have recently been applied to various fields and are being used as core technologies for new growth engines. Accordingly, these core technologies are applied to the agricultural field without exception, contributing to solving the problem of labor shortage, reducing production costs, and reducing environmental burden through remote and automated production without time and space constraints. However, as these core technologies are utilized, security incidents are occurring in the agricultural field as well. Accordingly, this study divides smart farms into three stages(Basic, Middle, and High) and presents the characteristics and security threats of each stage. In particular, as the number of container-based services and research increases under cloud platforms, we would like to suggest countermeasures focusing on security threats.

  • Reefer containers experience a temperature deviation of 3℃ or more between the front, where the refrigerator is located, and the rear, where the container door is, due to external environmental factors. This temperature deviation significantly affects the freshness of cargo, particularly in the transportation of fresh goods. This study proposes a method to minimize temperature deviation by partially shielding the T-Floor. The test subjects were 40-feet reefer containers, and the design variables for the shielding rate were set at 0%, 50%, 60%, and 70%. The experiment results showed that with a T-Floor shielding rate of 60%, It was confirmed that the stabilization time decreased by 28.5% compared to the existing cutoff rate of 0%, and the standard deviation decreased by 42.9%. By minimizing the temperature deviation within the loading part, it is possible to prevent spoilage of fresh cargo during transportation.

  • A strategic planning to attain a Marine Logistic Transportation Center on the Far-Eastern Pacific is investigated and is being reviewed at the NTRM Vision IV. Utilizing high speed super-sized container carriers, 15,000TEU and 35knots, between the two hub-ports, a western coast city of the United States and Kwangyang/Busan of South Korea, are motivated by now highly successful shipbuilding and maritime industries. SMART, 330MW thermal power plant under planning, will greatly expedite the transfer of cargoes across the Pacific. A sizable effort is required to achieve the goal, but the reward will also be very great, technically, economically, socially and geo-politically.

  • It can be replaced with a smart work service centering on tasks that do not require on-site work among container terminal tasks. Here, the cloud service is helpful for small and medium-sized stevedoring companies as it reduces the cost and time required for initial system construction, and allows you to pay usage fees as needed. This study introduces a case study on the development of web services that comply with industry standards so that advanced ICT can be used in connection with the terminal operation system.

  • In maritime logistics, the technology for transmitting status information has been greatly developed, but it has not been available in general logistics environment or it is impossible to support two-way communication as it simply receives and transfers a container's information. In particular, to support two-way communication in all sections of the global maritime logistics, the address value, which can identify the tag, should be managed. In this context, to improve the 433 MHz-based RFID, the project called "DASH 7" has been conducted in recent years. However, it has stopped proceeding because of its slow progress, including the standardization and development of references. In this paper, we introduced an active IP-RFID system configuration for real-time communication in global maritime logistics using a two-way communication-which is characteristic of an IP-applying virtual address values in the RFID tag, and proposing its process and function. When you apply the IP-RFID system proposed in this paper, not only real-time status tracking in the maritime logistics area is possible, but it is also applicable for controlling the tag.
