In this paper, stochastic models for the cross-correlation of multiple channels are established based on measurement data collected using a wideband multiple-input multiple-output relay Band Exploration and Channel Sounder system at 3.7 GHz. We propose models for the cross-correlation characteristics of large-scale parameters (LSPs) between two links, that is, the base station and mobile station (MS) link and the relay station and MS link. The LSPs include shadow fading, Rician K-factor, delay spread, angle spread of arrival, and angle spread of departure. Furthermore, models are established for the cross-correlation of the small-scale fading in the impulse responses of two links. The statistics of these model parameters are investigated as functions of geometrical features of the multilink. They are extracted from a large amount of cross-correlation observations, which are obtained in three measurement sites along more than one hundred measurement routes. These models can be used together with the standard single-link channel models for the generation of correlated components, for example, path clusters, in two separate channels.

We check up on whether the one-dimensional station precipitation model of Geogakakos and Bras is suitable to the storm model for Chonju station or not. The fundamental variables of the physically based model consists of the pressure at the cloud top, the hight-averaged updraft velocity(HAUV), and the inverse of the average diameter of the hydrometeors(ADH) at cloud base. And they are parameterized by input variables. The parameters are eastimated by the direct search algorithm of Hooke and Jeeves in this paper. The results show that HAUV and ADH are dominant factors to minimize root mean square error between the calculated and the observed rainfall. In this numerical analysis, the deviation between the calculated and the total observed rainfall is small, otherwise the gap for the time distribution is quite big.

In terrestrial communications, high data rate transmission can be achieved by splitting the coverage area into small cells through base stations and reusing the resource efficiently. However, the geographical features of maritime communications require the long transmission range, and it is not practical to install base station on the sea to set up the similar deployment as the terrestrial communications, so MF/HF band modem with low data rate are currently utilized for maritime communications. And the expensive satellite communication via Inmarsat is the conventional solution for the high data rate transmission on the sea. To reduce the cost, Ad-hoc network is proposed to apply on the sea, which requires no base station for the peer-to-peer communications. In this paper, we denominate this maritime environment specific Ad-hoc network as Nautical Ad-hoc Network (NANET). Furthermore, the deployment scenario for the NANET, and the analysis on multiple access and duplexing schemes for the NANET are discussed in this paper, which serves as the cornerstone for the further NANET research and development.
To combine the micro rain radar and microwave radiometer cloud liquid water, we estimate the cloud physical thickness from the difference between the MTSAT-1R cloud top height and cloud base height of visual observation of Daegwallyeong weather station, and the cloud liquid water path of micro rain radar is obtained by multiplying the liquid water content of micro rain radar and the estimated cloud physical thickness. The trend of microwave radiometer liquid water path agrees with that of the micro rain radar during small precipitation. We study these characteristics of micro rain radar and microwave radiometer for small precipitation to obtain the combined cloud water content of micro rain radar and microwave radiometer, constantly operated regardless to the rainfall.
The specification of the Home Evolved NodeB (Home-eNB), which is a small base station designed for use in residential or small business environment, is currently ongoing in 3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution) systems. One of the key requirements for its feasibility in the LTE system is the mobility management in the deployment of the numerous Home-eNBs and other 3GPP network. In this paper, we overview the characteristic of Home-eNB and also describe the mobility management issues and the related approaches in 3GPP LTE based Home-eNB systems.

Wireless access technologies are emerging to enable high data rates for mobile users and novel applications that encompass both human and machine-type interactions. An essential approach to meet the rising demands on network capacity and offer high coverage for wireless users on upcoming fifth generation (5G) networks is heterogeneous networks (HetNets), which are generated by combining the installation of macro cells with a large number of densely distributed small cells Deployment in 5G architecture has several issues because to the rising complexity of network topology in 5G HetNets with many distinct base station types. Aside from the numerous benefits that dense small cell deployment delivers, it also introduces key mobility management issues such as frequent handover (HO), failures, delays and pingpong HO. This article investigates 5G HetNet mobility management in terms of radio resource control. This article also discusses the key challenges for 5G mobility management.
This paper proposes a new call admission control method to enhance the reverse link capacity of a cell with heavy traffic in the CDMA PCS system under the uneven traffic load between cells. Since the capacity of a cell in the CDMA system is restricted by the total interference caused by terminals in the own cell and the adjacent cells, we can enhance the capacity of a cell by reducing the interference from other cells if possible. Our power control method allows that the signal powers received in base stations with heavy traffic be larger than those received in base stations with light traffic in order to make the interference due to other cells in the cells with heavy traffic relatively small. In the previous study, it was assumed that the signal power received by each base station in the CDMA PCS system is same when the call admission control algorithm is implemented. We could show that the reverse link capacity of a cell in the CDMA PCS system can be increased about 20% under our call admission control method.

When best-effort traffic users are supported in a downlink small-cell network, conventional schemes assign the channels experiencing low co-channel interference at each base station and provide a better downlink performance to the user near its serving base station, so that conventional schemes are not suitable to fairly support all users. In this paper, we propose a decentralized frequency reuse scheme for a small-cell network, where each basestation chooses a set of channels to fairly support the best-effort traffic users regardless of the distances to their serving basestation. After performing the conventional scheme that each basestation selects the channels which are not used in its adjacent basestations, it updates assigned channels improving the performance of low throughput users in a fully distributed manner with mitigating the overall throughput performance loss. The computer simulation demonstrates that the average throughput performance of the 10th percentile throughput users is improved up to 15% in some case compared to that of the conventional scheme, while allowing the overall throughput loss around 3%.

Mobile traffic is increasing consistently, and mobile carriers are becoming more and more hard to meet this ever-increasing mobile traffic demand by means of additional installation of base stations. To overcome this problem, heterogeneous networks, which can reuse space and frequency by installing small cells such as femto cells in existing macro cells, were introduced. However, existing macro cell users are difficult to increase the spectral efficiency without the cooperation of femto owners. Femto owners are also reluctant to accommodate other mobile stations in their femto stations without proper incentive. In this paper, a method of obtaining the optimal incentive is proposed, which adopts a utility function based on the logarithm of throughput of mobile stations, and the incentive is calculated to maximize the utility of the entire network.
Semi-shield tunneling is one of the propulsion construction methods used to lay pipes underground between two pits named 'entrance' and 'destination', respectively. Usually a simple composition, such as 'a fiducial target at the entrance+a total station (TS)+a target on the machine', is used to confirm the planned course. However, unavoidable curved sections are present in small-sized pipe lines, which are laid after implementation of a road system, for public works such as waterworks, sewer, electrical power, and gas and communication networks. Therefore, if the planned course has a curved section, it is difficult to survey the course with the abovementioned simple composition. This difficulty could be solved by using the multiple total stations (MTS), which attaches the cross type linear LED target to oneself. The MTS are disposed to where each TS can detect the LED target at the other TS or the base point or the machine. And the accurate relative positions between each MTS and target are calculated from measured data. This research proposes the relative and absolute coordinate calculation algorithm by using three MTS to measure a curved course with 20m curvature at 30m maximum distance, and verifies the algorithm experimentally.
