Single micro Vortex Generator의 후류에 대한 수치적 연구 (NUMERICAL STUDY ON THE WAKE OF A SINGLE MICRO VORTEX GENERATOR)

  • One of the devices to prevent separated flow over a wing or a flap at high angle of attack is a vortex generator. In the present work, we numerically study the flow around a low-profile or micro vortex generator whose height is less than local boundary layer thickness which can delay separation with a minimum drag penalty owing to its very small wetted surface area. As a first step toward a parametric study to efficiently design this MVG flow control system, we simulate the flow around a single MVG on a flat plate. For the simulation, we employ OpenFOAM with Launder-Sharma ${\kappa}$-epsilon model. The analysis results are validated by comparing with experimental results of a rectangular MVG at an angle of attack of 10 degrees whose height is 20% of local boundary layer. Important results and aspects of this numerical study are discussed. We also simulate the flow around rectangular, triangular and trapezoidal MVGs and the results are compared

  • In this paper, we propose the cogging toque reduction technique of the dual stator radial flux permanent magnet generator. The cogging toque is caused by the torque ripple increase and vibration and noise of the generator. And it is important factor determining cut-in speed of the small wind generator. To reduce cogging torque, permanent magnet displacement was studied. And the theory of the permanent magnet displacement was formulated and the cogging torque reduction according to the permanent magnet displacement was confirmed through the finite element method.

  • In this paper, analytical techniques for performance characteristics analysis of wind power generator with outer permanent magnet rotor are proposed. Furthermore, the proposed analytical techniques are validated by performance experiments of the manufactured generator. In this part, characteristic equations of losses such as copper loss, core loss are derived. Using the derived loss characteristic equations, electrical parameters obtained in [15] and d-q axes method, constant load and constant speed characteristics of wind power generator are analyzed. And then, to analyze performance of wind power system according to wind speed, d-q analysis model considering wind turbine characteristics is proposed. Finally, the obtained performance characteristics results are validated in comparison with those by experiments.

  • In small signal stability analysis of power systems, eigenvalue analysis is the most useful method and the detailed modeling of generator gives an important effect to the eigenvalues. Generator full model is used for precise dynamic analysis of generators and controllers while two-axis model is used for multimachine systems because of the reduced order of the state matrix. Also, the eigenvalue sensitivity coefficients are used for optimization of controller parameters to improve system stability. This paper compare the first order eigenvalue sensitivity coefficients of controllers in case of generator full model with those of two-axis model. As a result of an example the estimated eigenvalues using sensitivity coefficients in case of generator full model is very close to those of state matrix within 1% error ratios.

  • Once-through helically coiled steam generator tubes subjected to external pressure are of interest because of their application to advanced small- and medium-sized integral reactors, in which a primary coolant with a relatively higher pressure flows outside the tubes, while secondary water with a relatively lower pressure flows inside the tubes. Another notable point is that the values of the mean radius to thickness ratio of these steam generator tubes are very small, which means that a thick-walled cylinder is employed for these steam generator tubes. In the present paper, the maximum allowable pressure of helically coiled and thick-walled steam generator tubes with through-wall cracks under external pressure is investigated based on a detailed nonlinear three-dimensional finite element analysis. In terms of the crack orientation, either circumferential or axial through-wall cracks are considered. In particular, in order to quantify the effect of the crack location on the maximum external pressure, these cracks are assumed to be located in the intrados, extrados, and flank of helically coiled cylinders. Moreover, an evaluation is also made of how the maximum external pressure is affected by the ovality, which might be inherently induced during the tube coiling process used to fabricate the helically coiled steam generator tubes.

X-선 튜브의 고전압 발생장치 제어에 관한 연구 (Study on Generator Control for a Small X-Ray Tube)

  • 본 연구에서는 미국 Xoft 사에서 근접치료 장치(elecronic brachytherapy)를 목적으로 개발된 소형 X-선 튜브를 치과용 영상장비로 사용함에 있어서 고전압 발생장치의 제어용 장치를 개발하고 영상용 제어 방식으로 최적화하고자 한다. 연구에서 사용된 X-선 튜브와 고전압 발생 장치는 각각 Axxent S700과 XF060NZZ485를 사용하였고, AT90CAN128 MCU를 사용하여 제어보드를 제작하였다. 관전압을 50 kV로 고정한 후에 제어 방식에 따라서 필라멘트 전류 제어 방식과 관전류제어 방식으로 나누었다. 필라멘트 제어 방식은 다시 필라멘트 가열 시간에 따라서 5초와 10초의 두 가지로 나누어 실험하였다. 필라멘트 전류 제어 방식에서는 필라멘트 예열 시간이 10초 이상이 되지 않으면 설정된 관전류 값에 도달하기 어려웠고, 관전류가 발생하는 필라멘트 전류도 1,300~1,350 mA로 가변적이었으며, 관전류가 발생된 이후에도 설정된 목표 값에 도달하기 위해서는 약 5초 이상의 시간이 소요되었다. 하지만 관전류 제어 방식에서는 관전류가 설정된 목표 값에 시간 지연 없이 즉각적으로 도달하였으며 그 때의 필라멘트 전류 값은 1,500 mA였다. 본 연구에서는 소형의 X-선 튜브에 고전압을 안정적으로 공급하는 제어 장치를 개발하였고, 방사선 영상장비로 사용함에 있어서는 관전류 제어 방식이 적합함을 보였다.

  • This paper presents a small capacitance measuring circuit for capacitive sensors. The proposed circuit consists of sinewave generator, detector and demodulator. Results of experiments are shown that the circuit can be able to measure small capacitance exiting in a capacitive sensor filled with a vegetable oil. The sensitivity of the circuit is from 0.4V/pF to 4V/pF and the resolution is from 0.0025 pF to 0.00025 pF.

  • Recently, because a renewable power source must operate as a constant rate in accordance with RPS(Renewable Portfolio Standard), the study of the renewable power sources has been ongoing. Especially because of noise of wind turbine, troubleshooting, and urban greening business, research related with small wind turbine are underway. The economics and reliability are important parts for the activation of small wind turbine, such as solar energy. In this paper, by analyzing the temperature variations for each location and efficiency of power conversion devices in accordance with short period wind speed changes in simulation test, we reviewed the safety about temperature variations of wind generator and the method of selection of power converter.

  • This paper proposes an analysis and operation strategy of a grid-connected wind turbine system using a diode rectifier. The currents of generators are the same as that of a small wind turbine system. Therefore, the analysis of generator torque is required as opposed to an analysis of blade speed. In this paper, the appropriate MPPT control method is proposed to control generator torque. Usefulness of the proposed operation strategy is verified by simulations and experiments.

  • Recently the development of small hydropower generation with using water pipes is revitalized by the water works facilities. However, when the tubine generator is in case of emergency stop by the internal and external accidents, it causes water hammer in water pipes and suspension of water supply. To prevent these problems of small hydropower generator, we has analyzed water supply patterns, installation position and water pipe systems.
