Investigation on the Consciousness in Business Foundation Motives for Small Business Enterprisers in Korean Multi-Cultural Families

  • Purpose - The concept of lifetime job has disappeared, and men are interested in business foundation to work continuously with similar jobs. The value of business foundation is thought to be important in accordance with the viewpoint of society, government, individuals and family. Research design, data, and methodology - The economic exchange between South Korea and China has been expanded, and they are likely to play an important role in entry into China by business foundation in accordance with economic exchange between the two countries. As Korean residents inflow overseas, small businessmen business foundation shall be given attention scientifically and Korean Chinese business foundation shall be given attention as well. Results - The study investigated the effects on psychological characteristics and small business foundation motives upon business foundation will by using models. Self-efficacy and self achievement had positive influence upon small business foundation of Korean Chinese. The use of control variable had explanatory power (29.6%). Conclusions - The findings would help the government's small business foundation system to promote small business foundation and to be a guide for expansion in Korean Chinese's small business markets. An education program should be developed to strengthen Korean Chinese's self efficacy considering psychological characteristics.

  • In this paper, it is indicated that, currently, foundation of small and medium businesses is generally increasing in number, but the establishment of manufacturing companies is very slow. This is because of many factors interfering with promotion of the opening of small and medium businesses such as endless bakruptcies of the businesses and uncertain perspective. Therefore, it will be expected to encourage people to start business and activate establishment of small and medium sized manufacturing companies by improving tax support systems and providing tax support information services for founed companies and foundation supporting companies.

Foundation of Management Innovation and a Success Model of Micro Enterprise by Increasing Entrepreneurship and Organization Relationship Analysis

  • After the rapidly changing business management environment and financial crisis, high prices and domestic recession in Korea posed threats to the business survival of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This paper looks at the potential of micro business owners for sustainable development: those who have a spirit of entrepreneurship and the potential to be a hidden champion. Our study of micro business values uses structure equation modeling by LISREL. We have done so in order to understand the foundation of management innovation and success model of micro enterprise by increasing the entrepreneurship and management performance relationship analysis. A micro-enterprise is a type of small business, found only in Korea, often registered as having ten or fewer employees. We examine the successful type of hidden champions and the influence of entrepreneurship on start-ups in business. As compared to past research on the SME entrepreneurship, this study segments small businesses even further. Small business entrepreneurship was classified into three forms that are most appropriate for the Korean situation today: innovation, risk-taking, and pro-activeness. This research is meaningful as it is Korea's first empirical analysis on four business types: wholesale and retail sales, food and lodging business, service business, and manufacturing business. Thus far, research on small business entrepreneurship was carried out using small-scale investigative analysis. However, this research attempted to develop a model that can explain a cause-effect relation of the motivational level when it comes to the difference of entrepreneurship by each business type and small business start-up success factors. Various conceptual and operational definitions could be developed in a diverse and precise manner. Independent variables that are related to the success of small businesses can be developed additionally to examine the success factors related to the systematization in detailed manner. The research showed that the innovation, risk-taking and pro-activeness of the manifested difference in the degree of perception depending on the type of small businesses. Among the four business types, the ones that manifested the highest successful start-up rates were food, service, wholesale and retail sales and manufacturing. Results after conducting the regression analysis are shown on, which proves that the small business entrepreneurship exerts direct effect on the financial management performance of small businesses. In other words, small business entrepreneurship exerts a positive effect on the small business financial success and management performance. The R2 value is 0.61. It is possible to know that the perception of systematization and variables on attitude explains the 61% of the success for small self-employed businesses management performance. We define start-up key factors that are helpful to achieve internal growth of firms by finding business survival strategies. The results also focus on Korean government policy for micro enterprise and small business support.

우리 나라 SOHO 창업의 활성화 방안 (Korean Government Policy on Promoting SOHO Foundation)

  • Korea has suffered from unemployment of workers discharged from the companies and graduates, and matriarchs since 1997's IMF. Since then Korea has fallen into economic depression, therefore the graduates have not employed for several years and lots of workers have been discharged from their positions. SOHO(Small Office Home Office) is able to be considered as the alternative employing measure of the unemployers. SOHO foundation makes a great contribution to job creation and the social welfare throughout the country. Since its foundation needs small-scale facilities and investment, the discharged and unemployed can found SOHO easily and will do good business. Korea government should practice policies in order to promote SOHO foundation as follows. First, Korean government should enlarge various support measures for SOHO foundation, namely offering of useful information and promoting of SOHO foundation, etc. Second, she should carry out the SOHO foundation education for juveniles. In order to do this project, colleges and universities adopt the SOHO foundation lesson in the education course. Third, government should enlarge various government subsidies of SOHO foundation for the benefit of the discharged and unemployed.

소상공인의 업종전환과 정부기관의 역할 (The Business Transformation in Small and Micro Businesses and government's role)

  • 경기침체 및 업종 과당경쟁으로 폐업하는 자영업자들이 갈수록 늘어나고 있다. 특히 정부의 소상공인 육성지원 대책을 통해 정책을 펼치고 있으나 업종포화, 소비위축, 자금부족, 대형점포 출현 등의 이유로 소상공인의 폐업률은 매년 증가되고 있으며, 폐업자 증가에 따른 또 다른 특징은 업종전환을 포함한 제 2의 창업 또한 증가 추세에 있는 것이다. 그러나 아직 정부의 지원정책은 미흡한 것으로 분석되어 진다. 본 연구는 소상공인의 업종전환에 관한 현실적이고 신뢰할만한 요인을 추출한 후 소상공인의 지속적인 성장에 도움이 되는 다양한 수익모델을 발굴하기 위한 심층적 연구를 통하여 향후 정부의 소상공인 지원제도에 대한 보다 좋은 정책 방향 모델을 제시하고자 한다.

A Study on Small Business Development and Support Policies

  • The number of small businesses being founded nationally is constantly increasing and various kinds of aggressive efforts are being made to remain competitive. As such, political support by the government for small businesses that have great productivity and competitiveness must increase. The founding of small businesses is being promoted by the government in order to boost the economy, and interest in founding new businesses is high amongst not only college students, but even general workers. Thus, the purpose of this study is to examine problems regarding the founding of small businesses, and to give new businesses a competitive edge by presenting political answers to these problems. After analyzing the status of current issues concerning the foundation of small businesses, this paper suggests some positive policy alternatives. Existing studies on small businesses were focused on the promotion of small and medium distributors, and studies on policy alternatives aimed directly at promoting the businesses are, so far, insufficient. Further studies are required to examine political alternatives from the perspective of the roles of non-profit organizations, which the Government is responsible for, in supporting small business.

Association between business switch or liquidation, and the demographics of Small and Medium Enterprises in South Korea

  • Purpose - In this study, we consider and examine relationships between reasons for business switch or liquidation (BSL), and the demographics of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in South Korea. The related five variables are occupations, administrative districts, age of employer, firm age and foundation motivation. In addition, eleven levels in association with reasons for BSL visualize the corresponding demographics by measuring their similarity on the dimensional planes assuming that the association exists between variables under consideration. Research design, data, and methodology - This study is done by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2016 and examines 20,307 small and medium enterprises. For examining the distinct relationships among variables under consideration, both chi-squared test and correspondence analysis as main statistical tools are used. Results - The results show that among levels of reasons for BSL the three levels -weakening profitability, poor sales and economic depression- are main ones for the five demographics variables mentioned above, and we can obtain the detailed associations between attributes of corresponding variables by inspecting the two dimensional plane. Conclusions - This study suggests reasons for BSL are closely associated with the five different demographics variables - Administrative districts, Firm age, Occupations, Age of employer and Foundation motivation-by looking over results.

우리나라 대학생들의 창업에 대한 의식조사 연구 - 건설업을 중심으로 - (University Student's Questionnaire Study for Foundation of Company in Korea - About the Construction Company)

  • 최근 3년간 (2011~2009) 신입생을 대상으로 실시한 조사에서 취업을 희망한다는 경우 60.2%(3년간 평균치), 자영업 포함하여 창업을 희망하는 경우가 4.0%, 유학 포함하여 대학원 진학이 13.5% 그리고 나머지는 구체적 계획이 없는(22.3%) 것으로 조사 되었다. 극히 적은 수가 창업을 원하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 신입생들은 창업이 불확실하다고 생각하고 따라서 창업보다 취업의 안정성을 크게 선호하고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 본 연구는 건설회사 창업과 관련된 문제점 및 원인을 조사, 분석하고 그 대안을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 조사 및 분석 대상은 건설공학 전공자에 대하여 실시하였다.

  • 최근 경제적 불안과 실업율의 증가 등의 사회적인 문제로 인하여 창업시장의 수요가 증가 하는 가운데 청년창업 지원방안, 중기청 창업지원 계획 등의 정부의 창업 지원정책을 바탕으로 창업 시장은 지속적인 성장 추세를 보이고 있다. 이 같은 창업 시장의 확대에 힘입은 프랜차이즈 시장의 동반 상승이 예상되는 바, 프랜차이즈 시장에 대한 보다 현실적이고 구체적인 연구는 그 중요성이 점차 커질 것으로 사료된다. 본 연구에서는 가맹희망자의 브랜드 선택에 있어 기존에 선행연구를 개선하여 브랜드 선택에 영향을 미지는 선행 변수로 브랜드이미지, 본사의 지원, 창업비용, 정보탐색활동으로 보고 브랜드 선택에 영향을 미치는 요인을 규명하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 첫째, 창업업종 연령, 성별, 결혼여부에 따라 브랜드 이미지에 대한 생각 및 창업가능성에는 차이가 있다. 둘째, 예비창업자의 가맹계약의향에 있어 가장 중요한 요소는 경제적 특성이다. 브랜드 이미지 및 가맹지원, 정보탐색활동은 가맹희망자에게 있어 큰 영향을 미치는 속성으로 보기는 어려우며, 오히려 가맹점을 운영하는데 드는 비용(초기 창업비용 및 자기자본과의 일치성, 홍보비용, 운영자금, 시설/장비 재투자 등)이 중요한 속성인 것으로 나타났다. 특히 초기 창업비용과 자기자본과의 일치성은 가맹희망자에게 있어 가장 중요한 요인인 것으로 나타났다.

창업 관련 연구에 대한 메타분석: 1998년~2013년 학술지 논문을 중심으로 (Meta-analysis about the study related with foundation: As the center from 1998 to 2013 treatises)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 창업연구의 역사와 흐름의 파악을 통해 창업연구의 의미를 정확히 하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 분석 기간은 IMF 이후 우리나라에 처음으로 벤처창업 붐이 일었던 1998년부터 가장 최근 논문인 2013년 9월까지이며 온라인으로 제공되고 있는 총 382편의 논문을 대상으로 종합적 메타분석 방법을 사용하였다. 분석은 창업연구분야, 창업지원분야, 창업단계분야, 창업기업형태분야, 창업가의 인구통계적 특성 등을 대상으로 실시하였으며 분석결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 창업연구는 경영경제학 분야에서 활발히 전개되고 있으며 또한 산업 전반에 걸쳐 연구 대상이 되고 있다. 특히 IT산업분야, 외식산업분야, 콘텐츠산업분야 등은 창업에 대한 관심이 높게 나타나고 있다. 둘째, 창업지원 분야 중 주로 연구 대상이 되고 있는 것은 창업자, 창업교육, 외부환경 등이다. 셋째, 창업연구의 문제점으로 창업을 전략적, 세부적으로 파악하기보다 포괄적 관점에서 판단하고 있는 것이다. 넷째, 주요 창업연구 대상으로 기업형태로는 창업연구 발원기에 벤처기업 중심 연구가 주요 대상이었다가 최근에는 소상공인 창업 중심 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며, 창업자 특성 측면에서는 전 기간에 걸쳐 대학생을 포함한 청년 창업이 주된 연구 대상이 되고 있는 상황에서 최근 시니어 창업에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 이상의 연구를 바탕으로 향후 창업연구 활성화를 위해 창업연구는 보편적 창업연구의 활성화, 산업적 특수성이 반영된 창업연구, 융합연구의 활성화 등이 이루어져야 한다.
