An Empirical Assessment of Organizational Commitment and Job Performance: Vietnam Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

  • Research on employee commitment to the organization is necessary for human resource management, and the result is applied in practice to improve organizational effectiveness. The aim of the present study is to explore factors affecting organizational commitment at the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam. Besides, the relationship between organizational commitment and job performance is examined as well. The research was conducted on a sample consisting of 67 white-collar workers and 260 blue-collar workers at SMEs. A total of 327 valid complete questionnaires were input into SPSS 20 database for processing to provide evidence. The research model and hypotheses were tested using the technique of the hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The research resultsrevealed that income, reward and welfare, direct manager, working environment, coworker, and promotion opportunity tended to associate positively with organizational commitment. Besides, the finding also showed that, when the employee has a high organizational commitment, it would lead to high job performance. The main findings of this study provided some managerial implications for SMEs, in general, and managers, in particular. It implies that Vietnam's small and medium-sized enterprises should improve these six factors to retain employees as well as enhance their job performance.

  • A production system in domestic shoes companies has difficulty in achieving automation and information because of insufficiency of flexibility and standardization. Particularly small and medium sized shoes companies producing by OEM have tendency to chase the given production schedule blindly without considering major factors that may affect the production. Therefore, the production schedules or the process conditions can not be optimally set and are extemporized by the experience in the past. These behaviors cause low productivity and financial loss. To maximize efficiency and productivity of the shoe-making process, we develop a simulation model based on a production system in small and medium sized shoes companies. The model has been developed using ARENA which has been demonstrated to be a powerful tool to simulate various manufacturing systems. Using the simulation model, we find out several problems for the production process, and then suggest several alternatives to improve the system.

Effect of Managerial Skills on the Performance of Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises: A Case Study in Pakistan

  • The study aims to investigate the mediating effect of strategic planning on the relationship between managerial skills and the performance of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Punjab, Pakistan. Stratified proportionate probability sample method was used to select the 265 SMEs. The study applied a structural equation model (SEM) to analyze the proposed research hypotheses by using PLS-SEM. This research examines the direct and indirect effects of strategic planning on the performance of SMEs using the SEM test. The results indicate the positive effect of managerial skills on SMEs' performance and also suggested that strategic planning mediates the relationship between managerial skills and SMEs' performance. In addition, the role of managerial skills on the usage of the company's resources is highly influential through strategic planning. Strategic planning has been found to impact significantly and positively on the relationship between managerial skills and performance of SMEs in Punjab, Pakistan. The findings suggested that, in devising appropriate strategies for SMEs, the effect of managerial skills on the utilization of the firm's resources can be more effective to the firm's performance. In short, the utilization of a firm's resources through a proper planning is more essential for the sustainability of SMEs.

  • While large companies successfully manage incentive systems, small and medium sized companies have difficulties in successful management of the incentive system. In this article, we propose an incentive model fitted for the small and medium sized companies. To overcome the barriers, which are mainly due to lack of resources, we use the ideas of TOC and BSC. We also provide an application example of an actual company and examine the validity of our model.

  • The purpose of this paper is to give information on e-CPC implementation in the manufacturing industry by studying and analyzing a small and medium sized manufacturing company. After analyzing Various factors on J's e-CPC implementation such as environmental factors, process management factor, and result factors, success factors on J's e-CPC implementation are analyzed. The results of this paper can be summarized as follows. First, the most leading role on J's ERP implementation is the will and support of CEO and team leaders. They led the implementation to be stability successfully by settling the different opinions among teams, showing their ability on process decision and communication with consultants. Second, J tried to prompt system stability by mapping out and conducting the long term change management strategy. Third, J organized ERP project team to implement ERP quickly, and it turned out to be successful Finally, J tried to get outside information from consultants and collaborative companies that have experience in implementing ERP. Especially J made full use of overseas consultants. In respect that this paper giver lots of information on e-CPC implementation in manufacturing industry by a case study of a small and medium sized manufacturing company which has not been carried out so far, it would be useful enough.

A Study on Evaluation of Online Trading System in MRO Supply Business

  • Purpose: The findings are expected to be used as basic data for policy establishment for systematic support and upbringing of small and medium-sized suppliers through the current status and characteristics of the industrial structure of the MRO consumable materials industry as a whole and the market trend. Research design, data, and methodology: This survey is conducted in 2019 mainly for companies that operate consumable materials delivery business, and the survey size is about 25,000 in advance (selected) and about 2,000 in the main survey. Using cluster analysis and multidimensional scaling, we derive the visualization of the homogeneous grouping of cases and the relationship structure between them. Results: Based on the attributes of reason for not having an online trading system, it is classified into three and four clusters for industry and company size, respectively, and the feature and pattern of each individual can be are relatively evaluated and visualized. Conclusions: Small and medium-sized consumable material suppliers specialize in products rather than fierce pricing strategies or external expansion strategies and it is more effective to establish a plan to promote the growth of both large and small enterprises through cooperation with large corporations.

  • The entire industry is increasing the use of big data analysis using artificial intelligence technology due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The value of big data is increasing, and the same is true of the production technology. However, small and medium -sized manufacturers with small size are difficult to use for work due to lack of data management ability, and it is difficult to enter smart factories. Therefore, to help small and medium -sized manufacturing companies use big data, we will predict the gross production time through machine learning. In previous studies, machine learning was conducted as a time and quantity factor for production, and the excellence of the ExtraTree Algorithm was confirmed by predicting gross product time. In this study, the worker's proficiency factors were added to the time and quantity factors necessary for production, and the prediction rate of LightGBM Algorithm knowing was the highest. The results of the study will help to enhance the company's competitiveness and enhance the competitiveness of the company by identifying the possibility of data utilization of the MES system and supporting systematic production schedule management.

Practical Evaluation of Intellectual Capital (IC) Measurement Tool for Contract Foodservice Management Company (위탁급식전문업체 지적자본 측정도구의 운용시험 평가)

  • The purposes of this study were to a) measure the IC identified of CFMC (contract foodservice management company) ,b) examine IC circumstance of CFMC, c) evaluate practically IC measurement tool of CFMC, and d) present information for selecting an adequate CFMC to clients. The questionnaires of IC measurement were handed out to 108 CFMCs, there composing of main office employees, foodservice managers, customers, and clients of 207 school,38 hospital, and 86 husiness/industry foodservices. The statistical data analysis was completed using SPSS Win (ver 12.0) for descriptive analysis, t-test, Mann-Whitney U test. First, CFMCs had operational experience for an average of 8 years and 8 months, and served an average of 38,540 meals a day. Most of the respondent companies specialized in the school foodservice field and managed an average of 66 clients for the contract period of 2 years and 3 months. Second, the respondent companies had gotten a score of 77.78 points for the total average, 77.7 points in the large enterprise group and 78.1 points in the small and medium-sized enterprise group. Therefore, the minimum number of points for the accrediting license on Qualification is suggested to be over 70 out of a 100 point scale; this study would be serve as reference for the certification license on qualification. On the level of evaluation category, the scores were 14.15 to 20 points on $\ulcorner$finance$\urcorner$, 19.24 to 25 points on $\ulcorner$customer$\urcorner$, 19.33 to 25 points on $\ulcorner$process$\urcorner$, 14.31 to 20 points on $\ulcorner$human resource$\urcorner$, and 8.6 to 10 point on $\ulcorner$renewal and development$\urcorner$ . $\ulcorner$Renewal and development$\urcorner$ and $\ulcorner$customer focus$\urcorner$ received better grades than other evaluation categories. Third, $\ulcorner$Finance$\urcorner$ indicated similar distribution overall. Small and medium-sized companies had lower grades than large companies on 'market ability' of $\ulcorner$customer$\urcorner$ , but, clients of small and medium-sized companies had higher grade for 'client satisfaction' than large companies. Most of the companies supported 'infrastructure support for foodservice operation' of $\ulcorner$process$\urcorner$ by the main office of CFMCs, but, the branch chain offices of CFMCs were not applied efficiently. Large companies made more effort to improve the 'employee ability' of $\ulcorner$human focus$\urcorner$ than small and medium-sized CFMC. The 'research and development cost' of $\ulcorner$renewal and development$\urcorner$ was increased compared to the previous year. In conclusion, if CFMCs were to perform self-evaluation and a routine checkups by utilizing CFMC's IC measuring tool, improvements in CFMC operational capacities as well as foodservice quality can be noted. Identifying business ethics components according to business area for small and medium-sized fashion companies (중소 패션기업의 업무영역별 비즈니스 윤리 요소 도출)

  • The purpose of the present study was to generate a list of business ethics components according to business area for small and medium-sized fashion companies. Based on the literature review, 21 components of business ethics components were identified within five business areas. Ten CEOs(Chief Executive Officers) each participated in an in-depth interview, sharing ethical and unethical cases from their own businesses. Constant comparative analysis was used to generate important business ethics components from those cases. In results, important business ethics components for each business area are: 1) using human-friendly materials, strengthening sustainable technologies, using vegan materials, concerning safe process, and reducing waste in the material production and sourcing area, 2) enhancing an efficiency in design, developing recycle/reuse designs, avoiding to copy designs, and using messages for public interest in the product design area, 3) concerning fair-trade, reducing harmful substance, saving energy, and using ethical supply channels in the distribution and logistics area, 4) acquiring certifications, promoting consumer protection, avoiding exaggerative/false advertisements, and promoting social contributions in the management and marketing area, and 5) promoting workers' rights, complying with the law, and investing on employee educations in the labor management area. All of the ethical and unethical cases of the ten companies have involved aspects of the 21 components, thereby enhancing understandings on how each issue is being seriously considered and/or handled in the small and medium-sized fashion companies. Study findings may provide a basis for development of a research model for quantitative studies and/or educational programs related to business ethics in the fashion industry.

Empirical Analysis on Small and Medium Sized Exporting Company's Utilization Motivation and performance of SNS Marketing (중소수출기업의 SNS 마케팅 활용동기 및 성과에 대한 실증분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect that the utilization motivation of SNS (Social Network Service) marketing affects on the export performance of medium small sized exporting enterprises (MSEE) directly and indirectly. This study is to investigate the effects of the export marketing environment of MSEE onto the motivation of SNS application and then it proposes a model which evaluates the performance of SNS marketing. In this study, for data collection and analysis questionnaire, survey was conducted for MSEE participated in trade exhibitions sponsored by COEX and used TradeSOS consulting services of Korea International Trade Association. The results showed that MSEE utilized SNS for cost reduction.
