Neutron Cross Section Evaluation on Pr-141, Nd-143, Nd-145, Sm-147 and Sm-149

  • The neutron induced nuclear data for Pr-141, Nd-143, Nd-145, Sm-147 and Sm-149 were calculated and evaluated from 10 keV to 20 MeV. The energy dependent optical model potential parameters were extracted based on the recent experimental data and applied up to 20 MeV. The s-wave strength function was calculated. Spherical optical model , statistical model in equilibrium energy, multistep direct and multistep compound model in pre-equilibrium energy and direct capture model were introduced in Empire calculation. The theoretically calculated cross sections were compared with the experimental data and the evaluated files. The model calculated total and capture cross sections were in good agreement with the reference experimental data. The capture cross sections in pre-equilibrium were enhanced in recent released Empire version. The evaluated cross section results were compiled to ENDF-6 format and will improve the ENDF/B-Vl.

Correlation between Structures and Ionic Conductivities of $Na_2Ln_2Ti_3O_{10}$ (Ln=La, Nd, Sm, and Gd)

  • The variations of the structural detail of layered perovskite-type oxides, Na2Ln2Ti3O10 (Ln=La, Nd, Sm, Gd), have been refined by Rietveld analyses of their powder X-ray diffraction data. Although the c-axis strongly decreases from Ln=La to Nd, Sm, or Gd, the length of Na-O bond along the c-axis that is regarded as the sodium layer spacing is not dependent on the unit cell parameter. Such a behavior is explained by the fact that Na-O bond is in competition with Ti-O one of the perovskite slab. Increased covalency of this Ti-O bond by the lattice contraction leads to weakening of the attaching strength of Na ion. This picture is consistent with the experimental observation that Na ion conductivity of Na2Ln2Ti3O10 increases from Ln=La to Nd, Sm, or Gd despite strong contraction of the unit cell volume.

Karr column을 이용한 Sm/Nd 분리특성 (Separation Properties of Sm/Nd with Karr Column)

  • 본 연구는 Karr column을 이용한 희토류원소의 분리에 대한 연구로서, 유량, 수상의 초기 pH, 유기상인 PC88A비누화도, 교반속도 등의 변수에 따른 Sm/ND이성분계의 분리특성을 조사하였다. 수상과 유기상의 유량이 16.5ml/min(체류시간 10분)에서 수상의 초기 pH가 높아짐에 따라 Sm/Nd의 추출율 및 분리계수가 증가하였으며, 비누화의 영향으로 반응 후 수상의 평형 pH가 약 1.5정도로 유지되었다 또한 PC88A 비누화도가 증가함에 따라 추출율 및 분리계수가 증가하였으며 적정 비누화도는 $40\%$였다. 그리고 교반 모터의 회전수 증가에 의해 추출율 및 분리계수가 크게 증가하는 결과를 보였다. 체류시간 10분, 초기 pH 1, PC88A비누화도 $40\%$,교반속도 120rpm에서 Nd $19.6\%$, Sm $72.5\%$가 추출되었다.
