Analysis on Thrust Characteristics of Slotless Iron-Cored PMLSM According to PM Magnetization Patterns

  • The development of modern high-energy magnet materials has allowed the replacement of field coils in many different types of electromagnetic energy conversion machines. As well, the linear synchronous motor has recently been proposed for linear motion with high efficiency and thrust. Thus, this paper presents an analytical solution for the high thrust and cost reduction of the Iron-Cored Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM) considering magnetization arrays and geometry. Hence, the superior utilization points in each of the magnetization arrays are provided by the height ratio of the magnet/air-gap and magnet/winding coil, etc. In formulation, the space harmonic method in analytical solutions and the generalized 2-D tensor finite element analysis can be used to evaluate force components in magneto static devices including the magnetostrictive phenomenon.

  • The Slotless Permanet-magnet linear synchronous motors (PMLSM) have been developed for factory automation, transportation applications, wafer steppers, conveyance system, and so on[1]. The current analysis and design are treated in air-cored PMLSM. The main purpose of this paper is to provide a general design and analysis framework for the iron-cored linear permanent-magnet machines. Based on field solution using two dimensional analytical technique the magnetic field required magnet volume size, optimal winding thickness size, winding flux linkage and thrust will be discussed.

  • The slotless Permanent-Magnet Linear Synchronous Motors (PMLSM) have been developed for factory automation, transportation applications, wafer steppers, conveyance system, and so on. The current analysis and design are treated in air-cored PMLSM. This paper presents a design and analysis solutions for the general class of iron-cored Permanent magnet Linear Synchronous motor (PMLSM). In our design and analysis, rotor consisting of permanent magnets and slot less iron-cored coil stator are treated in a uniform way via vector potiential. For one such motor structure we give analytical formulas for its magnetic field, opitimal permanent magnet and winding coil thickness, trust force. We also provide comparisons of three types in Halbach, vertical, and horizontal magnet array.

  • In servo system demanding precision dynamic characteristics, application of the Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Machines (PMLSM) has advantage of analysis convenience by simple geometry and thrust ripple reduction from the sinusoidal back electromotive force and excited stator. Therefore, this paper presents design of surface-mounted PMLSM with slotless iron cored stator according to coil turns to satisfy the rate thrust. Also, from dynamic analysis for servo application of manufactured motor with heavy mass, we offer accurate range of the DC link voltage and acceleration in rate speed. This is applied to speed reference profile considering system characteristics in total length of moving position.
