대기/배경에 따른 계절별 항공기 적외선 방사 특성 (IR Characteristics of an Aircraft in Different Atmospheric/Background Conditions)

  • Infrared(IR) guided heat-seeking missiles uses IR emissions from aircraft to detect and track a target. Due to passive characteristic of the IR guidance, early detection of the missile is difficult and it is significant threat to aircraft survivability. Therefore, IR signature prediction of the aircraft is an important aspect of the stealth technology. In this study, we simulated IR signature of the aircraft in real atmospheric conditions. Aircraft surface temperature distribution was calculated by using RadthermIR code. Based on temperature distribution, IR radiance and BRDF(Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function) image were simulated for different weather(seasonal) and background(sky/soil) conditions. The IR contrast tendencies are not aligned with surface temperature or magnitude of target IR radiance. Therefore, it is essential to simulate IR signature with various conditions and background to acquire reliable database.

전천 카메라와 페브리-페로 간섭계 자료를 이용한 한반도 상공 중간권 중량파의 고유파동계수 및 운동량 플럭스 산출 (ESTIMATION OF INTRINSIC WAVE PARAMETERS AND MOMENTUM FLUXES OF MESOSPHERIC GRAVITY WAVES OVER KOREA PENINSULA USING ALL-SKY CAMERA AND FABRY-PEROT INTERFEROMETER)

  • 보현산($36.2^{\circ}\;N,\;128.9^{\circ}\;E$)의 전천카메라로 관측한 OI 557.7nm 밤대기광 방출선에 나타난 단주기 중량파의 운동량 플럭스가 산출되었다. 중량파의 고유위상속도($C_{int}$), 고유주기(${\tau}_{int}$), 그리고 수직파장(${\lambda}_z$)는 전천 화상에서 도출된 수평파장(${\lambda}_h$), 관측파동주기(${\tau}_{ob}$), 진행방향(${\phi}_{ob}$), 관측위상속도(${\upsilon}_{ob}$)와 일본 Shigaraki($34.8^{\circ}\;N,\;13.1^{\circ}\;E$) 페브리-페로 간섭계로부터 관측된 중성바람으로부터 유도되었다. 2002년부터 2006년까지 두 관측소의 기상 및 관측 장비 상태를 고려한 결과 총 5일이 분석 가능일로 선택되었다. 중량파 고유파동계수의 평균값은 $({\tau}_{int})\;=\;12.9\;{\pm}\;6.1m/s,\;({\lambda}_z)\;=\;12.9\;{\pm}\;6.5,\;(C_{int})\;=\;40.6\;{\pm}\;11.6min$으로 나타났다. ${\lambda}_z\;<\;6km$인 경우를 제외하고 4일에 대한 계산된 운동량 플럭스의 값은 $12.0{\pm}15.2m^2/s^2$이다. 중간권 중량파의 전형적인 운동량 플럭스를 획득하기 위하여 전천 카메라와 중성바람을 측정할 수 있는 장비와의 장기간에 걸친 연계관측이 요구된다.

기상청 전구 수치예보모델을 활용한 Himawari-8/AHI 청천복사휘도 편차 특성 분석 (Bias Characteristics Analysis of Himawari-8/AHI Clear Sky Radiance Using KMA NWP Global Model)

  • 청천복사휘도는 히마와리-8호 정지궤도 기상위성에서 제공되는 주요 산출물 중의 하나로서, 자료동화 과정을 통해 수치예보 정확도 향상에 기여한다. 특히, 청천복사휘도는 대기운동벡터와 함께 대기 상층에서 자료동화의 효과를 보인다. 본 연구에서는 히마와리-8호 청천복사휘도의 편차 특성 분석과 평가를 통해 자료를 활용하는 사용자에게 정보를 제공해주고, 효과적으로 자료를 사용할 수 있도록 수치예보모델자료를 활용한 편차와 불확실성을 계산하였다. 일본 기상청에서 제공되는 청천복사휘도를 관측 자료로 사용하였고, 17 km 공간해상도의 기상청 전구 모델 Unified Model(UM) 자료와 복사전달모델 RTTOV-v11.2를 이용하여 청천복사휘도를 모의하였다. 먼저, 관측자료의 특성을 파악하고 관측자료와 모의된 청천복사휘도의 채널별 편차특성을 분석하였다. 전반적인 결과는 히마와리-8호 위성의 세 개의 수증기 채널(6.2, 6.9, $7.3{\mu}m$)에서는 양의 편차를 보인 반면에 대기창 적외 채널(10.4, 11.2, $12.4{\mu}m$)에서는 음의 편차를 보였다. 또한 분석결과는 계절과 영역에 따라 상이하게 나타났으며, 특히 사막이나 고지대 지역의 편차 특성이 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 이를 통해 청천복사자료를 활용할 때 시공간적인 특성을 고려해야 함을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 히마와리-8호 AHI의 청천복사휘도를 자료동화 할 때 전처리 과정에서 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것이며, 2018년에 발사된 천리안-2A호의 산출물 활용에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

기계학습 기반의 파이썬 모듈을 이용한 밀양아리랑우주천문대 전천 영상의 운량 모니터링 프로그램 개발 (Development of the Cloud Monitoring Program using Machine Learning-based Python Module from the MAAO All-sky Camera Images)

  • 운량은 천체 관측을 지속하는 데에 중요한 요소 중 하나이다. 과거에는 관측자가 날씨를 직접 판단할 수밖에 없었으나, 원격 및 자동 관측 시스템의 개발로 관측자의 역할이 상대적으로 줄어들었다. 또한 구름의 다양한 형태와 빠른 이동 때문에 자동으로 운량을 판단하는 것은 쉽지 않다. 이 연구에서는 기계학습 기반의 파이썬 모듈인 "cloudynight"을 밀양아리랑우주천문대의 전천 영상에 적용하여 운량을 모니터링하는 프로그램을 개발하였다. 전천 영상을 하위 영역으로 나누어 각 39,996개 영역의 16개의 특징을 학습하여 기계학습 모델을 생성하였다. 검증 표본에서 얻은 F1 점수는 0.97로, 기계학습 모델이 우수한 성능을 가짐을 보여준다. 운량("Cloudiness")은 전체 하위 영역 개수 중 구름으로 식별 된 하위 영역 개수의 비율로 계산하며, 운량이 지난 30분 동안 0.6을 초과할 때 관측을 중단하도록 자동 관측 프로그램 규칙을 정하였다. 이 규칙을 따를 때, 기계학습 모델이 운량을 오판하여 관측에 영향을 미치는 경우는 거의 발생하지 않았다. 본 기계학습 모델을 통하여, 밀양아리랑우주천문대 0.7 m 망원경의 성공적인 자동 관측을 기대한다.

천공상태에 따른 오피스 창호의 적정 투과율 선정 (Selection to the Optimal Windows Transmittance of Office Building on Sky Conditions)

  • The purpose of this study is to select the optimal and minimum transmittance for visual amenity in office buildings. This study progressed as follows. The first, we select 5 films with various transmittance based on the current film makers whose films being used on the windows of office building nowadays and the case study of construction. And then we choose 6 kinds of transmittance as evaluation object including plain glass. The second, we made a mock-up models having different transmittance on the southern windows with model of real scale office building. The third, we select 17 pairs of adjectives for the evaluation of visual comfort on interior or exterior conditions with transmittance factor. The fourth, subjective evaluation experiment was done using selected evaluation adjectives and the result was analyzed. The results are as follows : the minimum transmittance appropriate for the office building is 30%∼40% and the optimal transmittance range is 40%∼60%.

Astronomy in Antarctica

  • The high Antarctic plateau is the driest and coldest environment on the surface of the Earth and offers superlative conditions for the conduct of a wide range of astronomical observations, from optical to millimetre wavebands. This includes, especially, the infrared - where the sky background is greatly reduced from temperate sites - and the sub-millimetre / THz bands - where new or cleaner atmospheric windows can be viewed through. Astronomical observations have now been conducted from five locations on the Antarctic plateau - the South Pole, Domes A, C and F, and Ridge A. Ambitious plans for the construction of observatories there have been announced. An IAU Symposium on "Astrophysics from Antarctica" featured as part of last year's IAU General Assembly in Beijing. This talk will provide an overview of astronomy in Antarctica, describing the special conditions that make some forms of observation particularly favourable there, and discuss the development of observatories on the Antarctic plateau and the plans for their future development.

축소모형을 이용한 지붕담수시스템을 활용한 아트리움 실내의 냉각효과에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Cooling Effects of the Atrium Interiors for the Roof Watering System by a Scaled Model)

  • The most important advantages of atrium buildings are to allow the abundant natural lighting and outside views. However, the abundant lighting frequently causes to increase a cooling load in summer. The roof watering systems are useful to reduce the cooling load and save the energy. This study aims to investigate the effects of the roof watering system in atrium through the scaled model experiments. For the study, the 1/20 scaled model was made and tests were performed under the clear sky conditions through August 24 to september 7 in 2008. The model size was $45{\times}45{\times}60(cm)$ and depth of roof water was 3(cm). As results, the thermal effects of two types of atrium(roof opening, and roof and front opening,) were evaluated through the experimental points and conditions. It is expected to use the results for the next research to develop the practical roof watering systems for atrium.

거제도 해양의 여름 및 겨울철 환경에서 거리에 따른 대기투과도를 고려한 함정의 적외선 신호 특성 분석 (Study on IR Signature Characteristics for different Transmittance over the Korean South Sea during Summer and Winter Seasons)

  • The IR signature data of a ship is mainly affected by location, meteorological conditions(atmosphere temperature, wind direction and velocity, humidity etc.), atmospheric transmittance, solar position and ship surface temperature etc. The IR signatures received by a remote sensor at a given temperature and wavelength region is consisted of the self-emitted component directly from the object surface, the reflected component of the solar irradiation at the object surface, and the scattered component by the atmosphere without ever reaching the object surface. Computer simulations for prediction of the IR signatures of ships are very useful to examine the effects of various sensor positions. In this paper, we have acquired the IR signature for different sensor positions by using computer program for prediction of the IR signatures. The numerical results show that the IR signature contrast as compared to the background sea considering the meteorological conditions, solar and sky irradiations.

Statistical Analysis on Weather Conditions at Chungbuk National University Observatory in Jincheon, Korea

  • Astronomical Observations at Chungbuk National University Observatory (CBNUO) with an 1 m telescope have begun since April 2008, and Near-Earth Space Survey observations also have been started since November 2010, with a 0.6 m wide field telescope developed by Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute. To improve observational efficiency, we developed a weather monitoring system enabling automatic monitoring for the weather conditions and checking the status of the observational circumstances, such as dome status. We hope this weather monitoring system can be helpful to more than 100 Korean domestic observatories, including public outreach facilities. In this paper, we present the statistic analysis of the weather conditions collected at CBNUO for 3 years (2009- 2011) and comparisons were made for clear nights between using only humidity data and both humidity and cloud data.

광파이프 시스템의 채광성능 예측모델의 검증 및 적용 (Evaluation and Application of Prediction Models for the Daylight Performance of a Light-Pipe System)

  • The use of natural light has the potential for improving both the energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality in buildings. A light-pipe system can introduce daylight to spaces that would otherwise not be able to benefit from the advantages of daylight penetration. For the light-pipe system to be widely used in Korea, it is important to quantify its daylighting performance with due consideration regarding the effects imposed by the local climate conditions. This paper presents the evaluation results of existing semi-empirical models to predict daylighting performance of a light-pipe system. The evaluation of the existing models was based on the monitoring data obtained from a underground parking lot in which the light-pipe system was installed. Comparisons were made between the predicted and the monitored data obtained from the study. The results indicated that semi-empirical models which was developed using the experimental data obtained under the Korean climatic conditions had a good prediction performance. We also quantified the effects caused by sky conditions, solar altitudes, room dimensions, and the aspect ratio of a light-pipe system on both the daylighting performance of the light-pipe system and the indoor illuminance distributions of the space using the semi-empirical model. Finally, this paper provides the design guideline of the light-pipe system for its application to an underground parking lot space.
