율피를 기능성 화장품 소재로 활용하기 위하여 주름개선, 미백 및 수렴효과를 검증하였다. 주름개선 효과를 검증하기 위하여 elastase 저해활성과 collagenase 저해활성을 측정하였다. Elastase 저해활성을 측정한 결과 율피 아세톤 추출물 100 ug/ml에서 51.0%의 효과를 나타내었으며, collagenase 저해활성을 측정한 결과 아세톤 및 에탄올 추출물이 50 ug/ml 에서 96.4%, 94.3%의 저해활성을 나타내었다. 미백효과를 확인하기 위하여 tyrosinase 저해활성을 측정한 결과 아세톤 및 에탄올 추출물이 열수 추출물보다 높은 Tyrosinase 저해활성을 나타내었으나 대조군으로 사용한 Vitamin C와 비교시 약 50%의 효과를 나타내었다. 이상의 결과로 미루어 보아 율피 추출물의 주름개선 효과가 높음을 확인할 수 있었고, 주름개선 기능성 화장품 소재로서의 가능성을 확인하였다.

연령이 증가함에 따라 피부 내부에서는 콜라겐의 합성 능력이 떨어지고 탄력섬유의 손상 및 matrix metalloproteinase (MMPs) 발현이 증가한다. 본 연구의 목적은 눈가에 주름이 형성되기 전에 연령이 증가할수록 피부 내부에서 피부 노화의 징후가 관찰된다는 것을 확인하고, 피부 내부에서 먼저 발생하는 노화의 징후가 칠엽담 지페노사이드 분획물 함유 크림(칠엽담 지페노사이드 크림)의 효능으로 인해 개선되는 것을 확인하는데 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 육안으로 눈가에 주름이 관찰되지 않는 21 ~ 34세의 한국 여성 52명을 대상으로 임상 시험을 수행하였다. 이들에게서 연령이 증가함에 따라 피부 외부의 노화 징후가 관찰되지는 않지만 피부 내부에서 노화의 징후가 시작되는 시점을 진피치밀도 측정을 통해 확인하였다. 그리고 육안으로 주름이 관찰되지는 않았지만, 진피치밀도가 감소하는 연령대에서 칠엽담 지페노사이드 크림을 4주 및 8주 사용한 후에 진피치밀도 값이 유의하게 증가함을 확인하였다. 따라서 칠엽담 지페노사이드 크림이 피부 내부에서 먼저 진행되는 노화를 효과적으로 개선하는데 도움을 주며, 이 결과를 토대로 칠엽담 지페노사이드 분획물이 향후 주름 개선기능성 화장품 개발에 활용하기 적합하다고 판단된다.

Many researchers revealed that collagen contribute to maintaining the skin’s elasticity and inhibit wrinkling of skin. Korean native cattle (Hanwoo) bone (leg bone, foot and tail) infusion contains the various inorganic materials, collagen and chondroitin sulfate. All of this, a large quantity of collagen is included in Hanwoo infusion. Therefore, this study emphasized on the effects of collagen in the Hanwoo bone infusion. For the first time, Hanwoo bone infusions were directly added to the media of Human Dermal Fibroblast (NHDF-c) to test anti-aging effects. First, it was identified that growth rate of skin fibroblast was increased. Furthermore, the Hanwoo bone infusion increased a 50% of fibroblast collagen synthesis. Also, suppression of skin fibroblast aging was confirmed by treatment Hanwoo bone infusion. In conclusion, this study demonstrates the effects of infusion made from Hanwoo leg bone, foot and tail on anti-aging, wrinkle inhibiting and skin fibroblast elasticity maintaining. Therefore, this study identified that traditional infusion has effects that are good for skin elasticity.

Hyaluronic acid(HA) is a naturally occurring mucopolysaccharide composed of the repeating disaccharide unit of D-glucuronic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine. HA exists as a high molecular weight polymer in the extracellular matrix of many tissues in the body. HA has been widely used not only for osteoarthritis and ophthalmology but also for cosmetics for skin care. Recently HA has drawin much attention for use in health foods. Bioland Corporation started production of HA t1y biotechnological process in 1990 for cosmetical use. At present Bioland produces HA for cosmetic and food use. We have done many researches to evaluate the helpful effect for skin and safety of HA as food. In order to evaluate the effect of HA on the skin after its oral intake, we measured its bioavailability, skin-care effects on anti-wrinkle, moisturization elasticity and desquamation by clinical trial. The results showed that HA is very safe and could bs helpful to improve anti-wrinkling, moisturization, elasticity, and desquamation on the skin.

홍화(Carthamus tincforiu L.)는 한방에서 어혈, 통경 및 고지혈증 치료제로서 그리고 홍화씨는 진정 및 보혈 등의 약용 소재로 이미 널리 이용되고 있으며, 화장품 원료로서 홍화추출물과 홍화씨유가 사용되고 있다. 본 실험에서는 홍화씨 유박(oil cake)으로부터 식물성유사여성호르몬(phytoestrogen) 거동의 세로토닌(serotonin)유도체를 함유한 정제분말을 제조하여 화장품 원료로서리 적용 가능성을 실험하였다. 홍화씨추출물을 식물성유사여성호르몬으로 알려진 레즈베라트롤(resyeratrol)과 제니스테인(genistein) 및 기능성 주름개선제로 알려진 레티놀(retinol)과 우르소릭애씨드(ursolic acid)와 함께 항주름 효과와 관련한 항산화 효과, 엘라스타제 활성저해 효과, 섬유아세포 활성촉진 효과 및 콜라겐 생성촉진 효과에 대하여 비교 실험하였다. 실험 결과, 세로토닌유도체를 함유한 홍화씨추출물은 피부에 자극없이 항산화 효과, 엘라스타제 활성저해 효과, 섬유아세포로 활성촉진 효과 및 콜라겐 생성촉진 효과가 우수하여 주름개선용 기능성 화장품 원료로 기대되고 있다. 피부의 주름을 개선할 수 있는 가능성있는 원료로 기대되었다.

Objective : Recently, the demands for the effective and safe depigmentating and anti-aging agents of the skin have increased due to the medical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic reasons. The aim of this study is to search new materials from the traditional herbal medicines which inhibit the aging process of skin in vitro. Methods : herbal medicines(80% ethanol or water extracts) were screened for their inhibitory activities against elastase. Results : Rheum undulatum (final concentrstion 1 mg/ml) appeared over 30% of inhibition of elastase activity. so we are investigated anti wrinkle effects of Rheum undulatum look through MMP-1 inhibition activity. also Extracts of Rheum undulatum showed higher anti tyrosinase activity than arbutin (final concentration 1 mg/ml). Conclusion : These results suggest that herbal medicines could be strong potential sources of inhibition of anti-aging and whitening effects for the skin.

$In$ $vivo$ 동물 모델에서 10주간의 자외선 조사에 의해 유발되는 피부 손상 및 사람 피부섬유아세포에 Ginseol K-b1이 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 하였으며, 그 연구결과를 요약하면 아래와 같다. 1. 반복적인 UV 조사에 의해 7주 후부터 hairless mice의 주름이 육안으로 확인되며, Ginseol K-b1 0.0625%(w/w) 농도로 함유한 사료의 10주간 섭취는 UV 조사군에 비해 유의적 ($p$<0.05)으로 주름 생성의 정도를 억제시켰다. 피부 표피 두께 역시 Ginseol K-b1섭취군은 UV 조사군에 비해 유의적으로 작았다. 2. UV 조사는피부 수분 함량 및 탄력도를 감소시키며, Ginseol K-b1의 섭취는 표피 수분량 저하 및 탄력 감소를 유의적($p$<0.05)으로 억제하였다. 3. Ginseol K-b1은 사람 섬유아세포의 세포 증식을 유의적($p$<0.001)으로 촉진시켰으며, 저농도(1.56~6.25 ${\mu}g/mL$)에서 콜라겐 생성량을 유의적으로 증가시켰다. 이상의 결과에서 Ginseol K-b1은 피부 섬유아세포의 증식 및 콜라겐 생성을 촉진함으로써 피부 표면의 주름 생성 및 탄력 저하 억제를 통해 UV로 인한 피부 손상으로부터 피부를 보호하는 효과가 있는 것으로 보이며, 이는 화장품이 아닌 먹는 피부 미용 소재로서의 가능성이 높음을 평가할 수 있다. 그러나 세포내 신호 전달 체계에 대한 추가적인 연구가 이루어져 기작에 대한 명확한 설명이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of korean herbal cosmetics for facial skin elasticity. Methods : We recruited patients and divided them to cosmetics group and control group randomly. We provided korean herbal cosmetics to cosmetics group and subjects in cosmetics group applied the provided cosmetics for 4 weeks. Control group waited and applied cosmetics that had previously used for 4 weeks. We assessed all subjects in 0 week, 2 weeks and 4 weeks. Primary assessment instrument was moire topography photo scale. Second assessment instrument was skin moisture, oiliness and elasticity which assessed with skintouch system v1.0, detox/regeneration questionnaire score and self-evaluating facial wrinkle/looseness score. Result : Moire topography photo scale improved in cosmetics group than control group significantly. Skin moisture and elasticity assessed with skintouch system improved in cosmetics group than control group significantly while skin oiliness assessed with skintouch system have not improved significantly. Detox/regeneration questionnaire score and self-evaluating facial wrinkle/looseness score improved in cosmetics group than control group significantly. Conclusion : Korean herbal cosmetics application might be effective method for facial skin elasticity.

With the improvement of economic status and the desire for beauty, the interest in health and skin care is increasing. For these demands, since ages medicinal plants are in vogue. A variety of plants, cosmetics and foods with novel bioactive ingredients for skin care and beauty are under constant research and development. Skin is influenced by various factors such as Ultra-violet rays, stress, hormones and aging which together lead skin to lose elasticity, changes in pigmentation and wrinkle formation. Many medicinal plants have proven effects in skin care and beauty treatment. From this list of medicinal plants, one which is famous for its beauty, flavor and fragrance is Rosa damascene. Rosa damascene has many therapeutic action and postulated pharmacological studies such as anti-arthritic, anti-microbial, cardio protective, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, analgesic, immune-modulator, gastro-protective, and skin ameliorative effect. Research in the field of Cosmetology has proven the effect of Rosa damascene in rehydrating skin, reducing scars and stretches, acne management, lowering skin pigmentation, delaying wrinkling and is recommended as a skin vitalizing agent. In this review, the morphology, chemical constituents, and some pharmacological activity are discussed.

This study evaluated the cosmetic effects of a far-infrared hot and cool mask (BBSkinplus) on face skin moisturization, whitening, and wrinkles using a randomized clinical trial. Forty female participants (mean age 47.7 ± 4.6 years) were allocated into the treatment group (BBSkinplus treatment and lotion application twice a day) or the control group (only lotion application twice a day), and moisture, brightness, and wrinkles were measured at 0, 1 and 2 weeks. The average values of each measurement were changed significantly by BBSkinplus treatment compared to the control group. At the 2-week treatment time point, the statistical differences in improvement rates between the two groups were significant at 8.7% vs. 3.9% for moisture (p < 0.01), 0.7% vs. 0.4% for brightness (p < 0.01), and -3.1% vs. 0.0% as Ra and -6.3% vs. 1.5% as R3z for wrinkles (p < 0.05), respectively. No notable complaint was reported regarding any kind of adverse effects such as erythema, itching, or burning. This clinical data support the potential of BBSkinplus as a home beauty device providing moisturizing, whitening, and anti-wrinkle effects on the face.
