MLS (Mobile Laser Scanning) which is a scanning method done by moving the LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is widely employed to capture indoor PCD (Point Cloud Data) for floor plan generation in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry. The movement and rotation of LiDAR in the scanning phase cause deformation (i.e. skew) of PCD and impose a significant impact on quality of output. Thus, a de-skewing method is required to increase the accuracy of geometric representation. De-skewing methods which use position and pose information of LiDAR collected by IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) have been mainly developed to refine the PCD. However, the existing methods have limitations on de-skewing PCD without IMU. In this study, a novel algorithm for de-skewing 2D PCD captured from MLS without IMU is presented. The algorithm de-skews PCD using scan matching between points captured from adjacent scan positions. Based on the comparison of the deskewed floor plan with the benchmark derived from TLS (Terrestrial Laser Scanning), the performance of proposed algorithm is verified by reducing the average mismatched area 49.82%. The result of this study shows that the accurate floor plan is generated by the de-skewing algorithm without IMU.

Centrifugally Cast Stainless Steel generally shows similar structure to the weld in austenitic stainless steel in the point of casting. When examining this material ultrasonically, the beam does not generally propagate straightforward but rather deviates from its original direction and this phenomenon called skewing is originally caused by anisotropic material. In order to calculate the beam skewing effect theoretically, work has been performed based on a model approach which has regarded material itself as having been composed of multi-layered columnar dendrite structure and the result was compared with the one from experiment. The result from both theory and experiment showed good correlation and ultrasonic beam showed the least skewing with around 45 degree incident angle.

This paper presents the design schemes for the improvement of force characteristics in a controlled permanent magnet liner synchronous motor (Controlled-PM LSM). The dependence of motor performance on the various design schemes, such as the slot shapes, the magnetization patterns of permanent magnet and the skewing, has been investigated in detail by using finite element method (FEM). The analysis results are verified by the experiment that is performed by a testing machine. From this study, it is known that the skewing of the magnet is the most efficient method in the aspects of detent force reduction and higher force density.

The problems encountered by ultrasonic testing of austenitic stainless steel weld joints are discussed in the paper. Due to low thermal conductivity and the occurrence of single phase between the melting point and the room temperature, coarse and oriented grains are formed in such weld metals more in thick sections. This leads to higher scattering at the grain boundaries and low signal to noise ratio, and extensive beam skewing. Experimental results to understand these problem are explained.

T-bet is a critical transcription factor that regulates differentiation of Th1 cells from $CD4^+$ precursor cells. Since T-bet directly binds to the promoter of the IFN-${\gamma}$ gene and activates its transcription, T-bet deficiency impairs IFN-${\gamma}$ production in Th1 cells. Interestingly, T-bet-deficient Th cells also display substantially augmented the production of IL-2, a T cell growth factor. Exogenous expression of T-bet in T-bet deficient Th cells rescued the IFN-${\gamma}$ production and suppressed IL-2 expression. IFN-${\gamma}$ and IL-2 reciprocally regulate Th cell proliferation following TCR stimulation. Therefore, we examined the effect of T-bet on Th cell proliferation and found that T-bet deficiency significantly enhanced Th cell proliferation under non-skewing, Th1-skewing, and Th2-skewing conditions. By using IFN-${\gamma}$-null mice to eliminate the anti-proliferative effect of IFN-${\gamma}$, T-bet deficiency still enhanced Th cell proliferation under both Th1- and Th2-skewing conditions. Since the anti-proliferative activity of T-bet may be influenced by IL-2 suppression in Th cells, we examined whether T-bet modulates IL-2-independent cell proliferation in a non-T cell population. We demonstrated that T-bet expression induced by ecdysone treatment in human embryonic kidney (HEK) cells increased IFN-${\gamma}$ promoter activity in a dose dependent manner, and sustained T-bet expression considerably decreased cell proliferation in HEK cells. Although the molecular mechanisms underlying anti-proliferative activity of T-bet remain to be elucidated, T-bet may directly suppress cell proliferation in an IFN-${\gamma}$- or an IL-2-independent manner.

Cogging torque is often a principal source of vibration and control difficulty in permanent magnet motors, especially at low speeds and loads. For example, reduction of cogging torque is an important specification for DC motors used for electric power stee- ring. This paper examines two motor design techniques, stator tooth notching and rotor pole skewing with magnet pole shaping, for reduction of cogging torque, and the effect of each method on the airgap flux, and the use of the Maxwell stress method and Fourier decomposition to calculate the periodic cogging torque. The analyses show that the cogging torque can be nearly eliminated by the suggested designs, with minimal scacrifice of output torque.
This paper presents the design schemes for the improvement of force characteristics in Controlled permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (CPMLSM). The dependence of motor performance on various design schemes, such as the slot shapes, magnetizing patterns of PM and skewing, have been investigated in detail by using FEM and experiment. From this study, it is known that in the various design schemes, skewing is most efficient in the aspects of force characteristic, efficiency and force density.

The speed and oscillation directions of elastic waves propagating in the [ab0] direction of a silicon single crystal were obtained by solving Christoffel's equation. It was found that the quasi waves propagate in the off-principal axis, and hence, the directions of the phase and group velocities are not the same. The maximum deviation of the two directions was $7.2^{\circ}$. Two modes of the pure transverse waves propagate in the [110] direction with different speeds, and hence, two peaks were observed in the pulse echo signal. The amplitude ratio of the two peaks was dependent on the initial oscillating direction of the incident wave. The pure and quasi-transverse waves propagate in the [210] direction, and the oscillation directions of these waves are perpendicular to each other. The skewing angle of the quasi wave was calculated as $7.14^{\circ}$, and it was measured as $9.76^{\circ}$. The amplitude decomposition in the [210] direction was similar to that in the [110] direction, since the oscillation directions of these waves are perpendicular to each other. These results offer useful information in measuring the crystal orientation of the silicon single crystal.

POSTECH Graduate School of Wind Energy is trying to upgrade the PMSG used for Unison U50 to 900 kW class. Intensive optimization efforts are carried out the reduce the axial size and total weight of the generator while increasing the rated output to 900 kW. The generator features 3.32m stator inner radius, 671mm stator length, 84 pole, 25 rated rpm and 31.6kN/$m^2$ shear force density. To reduce the gross weight, the stronger magnetic material is applied with optimal magnet size resulting lowest cogging torque. Also, instead of stator skewing the stator, the magnet position along the circumference is optimized to further reduce the cogging torque. This scheme eliminates the stator skewing procedure and may enhance the productivity. This method also reduces the total harmonic distortion. In this report, upgrade method, no-load line to line voltage and phase voltage, cogging torque, loss calculations and thermal analysis are presented.
To derive grid lines for analyzing a table layout, line image enhancement techniques are studying such as various filtering or morphology methods. In spite of line image enhancement, it is still hard to extract line components and to express table cell's layout logically in which the cutting points are exist on the line or the tables are skewing . In this paper, we proposed a line tracking algorithm to extract line components under the cutting points on the line or the skewing lines. The table document layout analysis algorithm is prepared by searching grid-lines, line crossing points and gird-cell using line tracking algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed method derive 96.4% table document analysis result with average 0.41sec processing times.
