  • The topic in this thesis stems from the current education situation that represses learners' freedom by excessive instruction and compulsory institution, in spite of the education helping learners free from inner prejudice as one of its chief aims. In this thesis, to discuss with an educational aspect, I call the learners' freedom in the learning process 'freedom-in-process' and the learners' freedom as the result of learning 'freedom-as-result'. Through this discussion, the conclusions are as follows; First, learners who enjoy freedom-in-process get to obtain freedom-as-result in mathematics education. Second, freedom-in-process and freedom-as-result appear repeatedly in the process of looking for and gaining structures. Freedom-in-process and freedom-as-result are both faces of coin, like seed and fruit which are related mutually and fertilized each other. For this purpose, Mathematics teacher must have awareness of the value of freedom, cherish the freedom, and enjoy it with his students.

  • In an environment that operates multiple UAVs, the use of a decentralized task allocation algorithm has more robustness from a single failure of UAV on the mission because there is no central command center. In addition, UAVs have situational awareness and redistribute tasks among themselves, which can expand the mission range. The use of multiple UAVs in a mission has increased as the agent hardware has decreased in size and cost. The decentralized mission-planning algorithm has the advantages of a larger mission range and robustness to a single failure during the mission. This paper extended the type of mission the uses CBBA, which is the most well-known decentralized task allocation algorithm, to the point mission and en-route mission. This will describe the real mission situation that has the purpose of surveillance. A Monte-Carlo simulation was conducted in the case of multiple agents in the task-rich environment, and the global rewards of each case were compared.

  • Background: Tobacco is a leading preventable cause of deaths worldwide; the situation is particularly serious in the developing countries. Tobacco use amongst the children and adolescents is already a pandemic and they are vulnerable targets of tobacco industry. This is also the case in India. Objectives: 1) Document and monitor the prevalence of tobacco use including smoked, smokeless and other forms of tobacco; 2) Understand student knowledge and attitudes related to tobacco use and its health impact; 3) Assess the impact of tobacco on the oral health status of school-going children in India. Materials and Methods: The sample was 1,500 school children of the age group 12-15 years age. A pretested, close ended questionnaire was administered in the form of extensive face to face interview to understand student knowledge, attitudes and behavior related to tobacco use and its health impact and to assess the prevalence of tobacco use including smoked, smokeless and other forms of tobacco. Oral health status was assessed using the Community Periodontal Index (CPI). Frequency distribution, Chi-square tests and Odd's ratio was calculated. Results: Prevalence of tobacco usage amongst the prevalence was 20.4%: 9.2% reported smoking, 15.8% used tobacco in the chewable form and 25.3% children were involved in consuming betel nut/areca nuts. The OR (Odd's ratio) for calculus formation was highest for guthka chewers (OR=14.322), paan masala chewers had the highest odds of developing bleeding on probing when compared to the others. Conclusions: There is an urgent need to launch school-based tobacco prevention programs for community awareness of children and the public, as preventing the initiation of a habit is far easier than stopping it.

  • In order to analyze the distribution channel of marine products in Korea, this study shows SCM approach to redesign of the marine distribution channel with case study related to previous literatures. In view of the supply chain and the future impact of RFID on the marine SCM on the recognition of the importance of the seafood traceability system, this study also provides the possibility to accomplish effective SCM for integration of production, storage, transportation, delivery, and sale when RFID is used in the seafood distribution channel based on the expansion of awareness on the marine product traceability. The traceability system for seafood is considered as the distribution infrastructure established in RFID deployment. By introducing Lotte mart case, this case study also discusses the marine distribution structure in view of the supply chain, to present an effective foundation for supplying seafood throughout production, distribution, and consumption. This is achieved by introducing RFID in an ubiquitous environment, and suggesting far more efficient control planning throughout the seafood distribution channel in view of the expected effects resulting from the introduction. In addition, as the alternative of solving this situation, this study propose the supply chain in seafoods by comprehensive management in whole distribution channels. In the SCM in seafood perspectives, HACCP can take into account the whole seafood chain from the point of supply to the point of consumption when assessing hazards. As the contributions of this study, this study emphasizes the seafood industry first should require the establishment of the relevant infrastructure, for which the efforts of the government and demonstrative project participants are essential.

  • The development and operation of the MASS (Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship) is being actively discussed for more efficient and safer maritime transportation solutions. The autonomous navigation technology has positive aspects such as the prevention of marine accidents, improvement of fuel efficiency of ships and cost reduction, and negative aspects such as job loss, task change, and security problems. It is expected that there will be new human element issues such as the situation awareness of remote operators, because the shore-based control will be conducted when fully autonomous ships are in operation. In this paper, we consider major human element issues that should be factored in the development and operation of MASS, and suggest a method of HRA (Human Reliability Analysis) for P IFs (Performance Influencing Factors) of the remote operators that are expected according to the shore-based control.

  • As the trend of future war has been changed to network centric warfare, tactical data link should be needed for fast and accurate situation awareness. Nowadays, Korean air force conducts military operations by using aircrafts equipped with Link-16. The Link-16 can conduct multiple mission at the same time because it supports multi-net capability. Due to lack of frequency resource, the way to share the frequency with other systems has been studied and using L band with radar is considered as one of the candidates bands. However, the data link can be affected by the interference from radars when it shares the L-band because the L-band in Korea is already assigned to long-range detection radars. In this paper, we evaluate operational possibilities of tactical data link in the L-band based on Link-16.

  • In order to detect driver's state in a driver safety system, both overt and covert measures such as driving performance, visual attention, physiological arousal and traffic situation should be collected and interpreted in the driving context. In this paper, we suggest a vehicle monitoring system that provides multimodal information on a broad set of measures simultaneously collected from multiple domains including driver, vehicle and road environment using an elaborate timer equipped as a soft synchronization mechanism. Using a master timer that records key values from various modules with the same master time of short and precise interval, the monitoring system provides more accurate context awareness through synchronized data at any given time. This paper also discusses the data collected from nine young drivers performing a cognitive secondary task through this system while driving.
