Case Study : BIM for Planning, Simulating, and Implementing Complex Site Logistics

  • This paper presents a case study using Building Information Modeling (BIM) for planning, simulating, and implementing complex site logistics in a headquarter office building construction project in Silver Spring, MD. As part of the project a prefabricated 92ft structural tube steel pedestrian connector bridge was installed between two adjacent buildings in the city of Silver Spring, MD. There were multiple significant challenges to deliver, offload, prepare, and install the connector bridge safely, on time, and with the minimum disturbances to the neighbors. BIM was of the foremost importance to visualize, simulate, analyze, improve, and communicate the site logistics plan from delivery to installation of the connector bridge. As a result of the effort, GC of the project was able to prepare a highly detailed plan, communicate it effectively to all stakeholders, and flawlessly execute the work as planned. This case study would provide a useful reference for contractors who are seeking a better planning method that enables generation of more accurate, implementable, optimized plans for complex site logistics.

  • Resource procurement and material handling are considered as a significant part of construction project especially in large or tall building construction site. There are multiple variables that must be considered in a construction site during finishing work such as movement of materials, equipments, and workers. Therefore, it is difficult for construction workers to find the material handling path solely by intuition. The aim of this study is to propose a real-time path finding model suitable for complicated logistics flow in the field. The model explores the optimal transport path of finishing material with its basis on optimization algorithm, and it determines the direction of the Smart Sign. The proposed model is expected to be utilized for planning of efficient finishing material handling.

  • The Korean government has been working to reduce national logistics costs since the early 1990s. One of the major plans instituted by the government was to build five complex freight terminals using ICDs(inland container depots) as hub inland terminals. This paper explains the process and the methods adopted for site selection, with special focus on the Youngnam Freight Terminal. Among nineteen developable sites in Youngnam region, four candidates were selected based on the Map Overlay Approach under several criteria, including land acquisition costs, proximity to major highways and railroads, suitability of the terrain, etc. In this study, we used the AHP to select the best site among the four sites.

  • 본 논문에서는 효율적인물류관리를위하여물류프로세스와현장 업무환경을 고려한 모바일물류정보시스템을 구현한다. 모바일 물류정보시스템은 물류센터의 전체 업무 프로세스를 실시간으로 수행할 수 있으며, ERP 및 POS 시스템과의 연계로 업무의 효율성을 강화시키는 시스템이다. 또한 서비스와 전체 공급망의 관리 수준을 향상시키는 시스템이다. 기존의물류 관련 업무는 전산화 및 자동화가 되지 않아작업자 경험과 관례에 의존하여 작업을 진행하기 때문에 비효율적인 관리가 이루어지고 있으며 물류 현황 통제력 약화로 물류의 품질이 저하되는 문제점이 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 본 논문에서는 모바일 물류정보시스템을 구축하여 실물 현장 중심의 실시간 운영 모니터링 환경을 제공하고, 현장업무 효율성 충족 및 최적화 된 시스템 기능을 제공하고자 한다. 또한 신규 물류 시스템으로 안정적 물류 정보지원과 새로운 ERP 및 관련 시스템과의 견고한 인터페이스로 시장 확대와 성장에 따른 물동량 증가에 적절하게 대응할 수 있도록 한다.

  • New modular factory-built methodologies implemented in the construction and industrial plant industries may bring down costs for modular reactors. A factory-built environment brings about benefits such as; improved equipment, tools, quality, shift patterns, training, continuous improvement learning, environmental control, standardisation, parallel working, the use of commercial off shelf equipment and much of the commissioning can be completed before leaving the factory. All these benefits combine to reduce build schedules, increase certainty, reduce risk and make financing easier and cheaper.Currently, the construction and industrial chemical plant industries have implemented successful modular design and construction techniques. Therefore, the objectives of this paper are to understand and analyse the state of the art research in these industries through a systematic literature review. The research can then be assessed and applied to modular reactors.The literature review highlighted analysis methods that may prove to be useful. These include; modularisation decision tools, stakeholder analysis, schedule, supply chain, logistics, module design tools and construction site planning. Applicable research was highlighted for further work exploration for designers to assess, develop and efficiently design their modular reactors.

노인.어린이 문화.복지 센터 계획안 (The Planning of Culture Center for The old & The young)

  • This plan is for a different type of welfare facilities devised by analyzing problems with existing welfare centers and focusing on connection with residents and link between culture and welfare and among generations. In terms of re-development plan of Youngsun-2-dong, Youngdo-gu, Busan and the neighborhood under this plan, Youngsun-dong, Youngdo-gu is one of the densely populated districts of the aged, with lower growth rate and poor housing and welfare facilities. However, the district has a blessed natural environment and historical site of cultural relics of the Neolithic Age as well as growth potential as a logistics center with broader network of roads linking with Bukhang Bridge when Namhang Bridge construction is complete, showing the aspiration for change toward hi-tech maritime city in the 21st century of Youngdo-gu. This plan is expected to promote unity between the old and children, protection from social marginalization, and re-socialization education and set the stage for participation and solidarity of residents in the community.

  • 컨테이너 터미널 업무 중 현장 근무가 필요하지 않은 업무를 중심으로 스마트워크 서비스로 대체 할 수 있다. 여기서, 클라우드 서비스는 초기 시스템 구축에 들어가는 비용과 시간을 줄이고, 필요한 만큼 사용료를 지불할 수 있어 중소규모 하역회사에 도움이 된다. 본 연구는 터미널운영시스템에 첨단 ICT를 연계 활용 할 수 있도록 산업 표준을 준수하는 웹서비스 개발에 대한 사례 연구를 소개한다.

  • As large logistics buildings have high floor heights and long spans, these buildings are designed as PC structures, and large cranes are used to lift PC members. PC erection planning can generally cause errors depending on the field engineer's experience. To solve this problem, a basic analysis method is needed to establish a systematic PC member erection plan. Crane work can be minimized if the trajectory is easily and quickly calculated according to the location of the crane and applied to the site. Therefore, the objective of this study is a basic study of crane trajectory distance calculation for sustainable PC members erection of large logistic building. In this study, a crawler crane commonly used for lifting PC members is limited. The trajectory distance for the PC erection plan was automatically calculated using the algorithm.

인천항 포트비즈니스밸리 전략 수립에 관한 연구 (A Study on Establishing a Port Business Valley in Incheon Port)

  • 본 연구는 인천항의 항만클러스터화와 이를 포괄하여 인천항의 포트비즈니스밸리 구축을 위한 전략과 실행과제 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 다시 말해 기존의 항만클러스터 개념을 포괄하여 타 경쟁항만들이 지향하고 있는 포트비즈니스밸리 구축에 대한 인천항의 목표 및 개발방향을 제시하고 보다 현실적인 인천항 포트비즈니스밸리 구축 모형과 그에 따른 가장 시급한 추진전략을 도출하는 것으로 한다. 인천항은 그동안 높은 성장률을 기록함에도 불구하고, 부가가치 창출이 미약한 석유가스, 모래, 석탄 등의 단순 수입화물의 처리형태를 보이고 있다. 무엇보다 항만배후단지의 입주기업의 부가가치 활동이 부진하고, 항만관련산업이 도시전역에 분산되어 공간적 집적화가 부족하였다. 또한 자유무역지정구역의 기능이 미흡과 항만과 산업단지간 연계성의 부족과 인천지역 제조업의 기능약화로 인해 물동량의 창출기반이 약화되고 있다. 이러한 배경하에 인천항 포트비즈니스밸리는 인천항과 인천공항과 함께 수도권 지역의 산업클러스터를 지원하여 인천지역의 산업발전과 지역경제 활성화를 도모하는 방향으로 추진한다. 도심 비즈니스 클러스터, 공항만 복합물류밸리, 산업물류밸리, 첨단복합 물류밸리 등 인천항만의 세부 권역별 전략을 추진이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 인천항 포트비즈니스밸리 구축을 위해 항만클러스터의 개념과 인천항의 포트비즈니스밸리 구축 가능성을 검토하고 인천항 포트비즈니스밸리 구축을 위한 모형 설정하였다. 또한 인천항 포트비즈니스밸리 구축을 위한 구성요인과 각각의 추진전략을 도출하고 항만관련 전문가를 대상으로 퍼지계층분석을 실시하여 가장 시급히 추진해야할 전략을 제시하였다.

  • The generalization of Internet use has been spreaded all over the world and impacted company to introduce intranet and extranet for their operation which dealt with electronic commerce. For these reason, endeavor of implementation of web site system is promotioned and enhanced the possibility of adaptation range for the view of company. Dramatic competition which company faced with the use of internet and request from all over the world made company brought company to various and different type of level. It is necessary to develop website system with experty knowledge to satisfy customer needs. To deal with this situation, works from the level of government should proposed to spread whole country business which propelled through kyungnam mechanic industry information promotion center. With strategic proposal concerning district characteristics to adapt electronic commerce successfully, information promotion should performed. Support of government is needed continuously to realize infra of ASP composed of 4,877 mechanic industry company. It might be possible to deal with international rapid change with cooperation of company and government related department.
