  • In this paper the comparison between the neural networks and traditional approaches as system identification method are considered. Two model structures of neural networks are the state space model and the input output model neural networks. The traditional methods are the AutoRegressive eXogeneous Input model and the Nonlinear AutoRegressive eXogeneous Input model. The examples considered do not represent any physical system, no a priori knowledge concerning their structure has been used in the identification process. Testing inputs for comparison are the sinusoidal, ramp and the noise ramp.

  • Since the Gyeongju earthquake in 2016 and the Pohang earthquake in 2017, the performance of various dynamic tests for seismic design has increased in Korea. However, sinusoidal load has been continuously used in the conventional laboratory tests to evaluate liquefaction potential and determine input-parameters in the numerical analysis. However, recent research results suggest that it is difficult to accurately simulate excess pore water changes of the ground under earthquake loads. In order to solve this problem, this study proposes a combined sinusoidal loading and examines its applicability to the cyclic shear and triaxial test. Also, its validity is examined through performing of shaking-table test and numerical analysis based on the effective stress model. As a result, it was found that the proposed combined sinusoidal loading can more accurately simulate the change of excess pore water pressure in saturated soils under real earthquake load than the sinusoidal load.

  • This paper deals with finite element analysis for free vibration and forced sine vibration of Ka- and Ku- bend antenna structures using MSC/PATRAN/NASTRAN. The structures are designed to satisfy minimum resonance frequency requirement in order to decouple the dynamic interaction of the satellite with the spacecraft bus structure. From the forced sinusoidal vibration, we have observed output acceleration versus input in X-,Y- and Z- direction, based on base excitation using large mass method. The results of finite elements analysis can be used as the reference data for the experimental test of satellite antenna, resulting in the reduction of cost and time by predicting and complementing experimental data.

  • This paper describes the ultra precise position control of servo motor using sinusoidal encoder based on 'Arcsine Interpolation Method'. First, the paper theoretically analyzes and verify throughout experiments, the relationship between A/D converter input ripple and the total resolution to measure the precise position. Second, this paper presents a way to compensate the total gain and offset error by utilizing a low cost programmable differential amp, by which without any special expensive equipments they are easily on-line tuned and effectively compensated. Lastly, it was compared to servomotor position control characteristics using digital incremental 50,000ppr encoder. The test results show that, with much cheaper sinusoidal encoder, the proposed method exhibits better performance both in position control and ASD applications than the 50,000ppr optical encoder.

  • This paper presents a time-varying sinusoidal disturbance compensation method (based on an adaptive estimation scheme) for induction motor drives fed by a matrix converter. In previous disturbance accommodation methods, sinusoidal disturbances with unknown time-invariant frequencies have been considered. However, in the new method proposed here, disturbances with unknown time-varying frequencies are considered. The disturbances can be estimated by using a disturbance accommodating observer, and an additional control input is added to the induction machine drive. The stability analysis is carried out considering the disturbance estimation error and simulation results are shown to illustrate the performance of the proposed solution.

  • This paper presents a summary of the input data, requirements and notch prediction analysis for sinusoidal excitation test of a satellite. In the notch prediction analysis, the loads at excitation points and internal loads at the important locations on satellite structure were obtained. After checking of limit loads and margin of safety for each location, the notched sinusoidal test inputs were generated using the results of the notch prediction analysis.

  • This paper describes the ultra precise position estimation of a servomotor using a sinusoidal encoder based on Arcsine Interpolation Method for the cost reduction of circuit design. The amplitude and offset errors of the sinusoidal encoder output signals, from the encoder itself and analog signal processing procedures, are effectively compensated and on-line tuned by utilizing a low cost programmable differential amplifier without any special expensive equipment. For a theoretical evaluation of the practical resolution of this system, the relationship between the amplitude of ADC(Analog to Digital Converter) input signal errors and the anticipated resolution is also addressed. The performance of the proposed method is verified by comparing it with speed control characteristics of the servomotor driving system using a digital incremental 50,000ppr encoder in the experiments.
