In this paper we explore the susceptibility of common sensitive loads by voltage sags of power distribution systems. The experimental approach was used for obtaining the susceptibility of single-phase loads and the three-phase induction motor. The experimental result of single-phase loads was transformed to the ITIC(Information of Technology Industry Council) format and used for evaluating the adverse impacts of a individual and repetitive sags using the performance contour of the foreign standard data. In order to assess the impact of voltage sags on three-phase induction motor, also, the experiment was peformed. The experiment was focused on the current, torque, and speed loss of the motor during a voltage sag. For comparing the impacts of individual and repetitive voltage sags, the variations of motor torque is focused among the experimental results. The sensitive curves of instantaneous current peak are used to describe the susceptibility of three-phase induction motor and 진so it were used for the quantitative analysis of the impact of three-phase induction motor due to voltage sags. Through the results of experiment, we verified that some types loads have more severe impact at repetitive voltage sags than individual ones and proposed method can be effectively used to evaluate the actual impact of voltage sags.

This paper presents exact autotransformer-fed AC electric railroad system modeling using constant current mode, and single-phase STATCOM(Static Synchronous Compensator) which has an effect on electric railroad system. An AC electric railroad is rapidly changing single-phase feeding electric power. To avoid voltage fluctuation under single phase loads, electric power should be received from a large source. The system modeling theory is based on the solution of algebraic. The AC electric railroad load model is nonlinear. Therefore this paper is considered nonlinear load using PSCAD/EMTDC. And the proposed modeling method is considered the line self-impedances and mutual-impedances that techniques for the AC electric railroad system modeling analysis, and that single-phase STATCOM can reliably compensate the voltage drop. In the case study, the allowance range of feeding voltage is 22.5∼27.5 kV, AT-fed AC electric railroad system circuit is analyzed by loop equation both normal and extension modes. The simulation objectives are to calculate the catenary and rail voltages with respect to ground, as the train moves along a section of line between two adjacent ATs. The results show that single-phase STATCOM can reduce the voltage drop in the feeding circuit and improve the power quality at AC electric railroad system by compensating the reactive power.

Single-phase is used widely power of field of appliance because can use commercialized power directly without power transform. Specially, because condenser nu-drive style single-phase induction motor efficiency is excellent, and most suitable in embodiment as economical. It is established true that method by crossing self-discipline and method by revolving magnetic field are interpretation of net single-phase induction motor, but method to calculate electric motor inside proper move in existent theory or method is some complex. That arbor in the law of circuit constant that combine equivalent circuit law with numerical analysis law according to development of the latest computer or microprocessor is suggested and does the calculation processing fast and correct. In this paper, measurement wishes to present method that calculate after calculate digital measurement that measures correctly and measures impossible the first and the second leakage reactance and no-load test locked-rotor test, DC test and resistance measurement of stator winding in circuit parameter calculation program that is had for MatLab program individually in single-phase power.

In this paper, the power conditioner composed of the stand-alone single-phase squirrel cage rotor type self-excited induction generator (SEIG) driven by prime movers such as a wind turbine and a micro gas turbine (MGT) is presented by using the steady-state circuit analysis based on the two nodal admittance approaches using the per-unit frequency in addition to a new state variable defined by the per-unit slip frequency along with its performance evaluations for the stand-alone energy utilizations. The stande-alone single-phase SEIG operating performances in unregulated voltage control loop are then evaluated on line under the conditions of the speed change transients of the prime mover and the stand-alone electrical passive load power variations with the simple theoretical analysis and the efficient computation processing procedures described in the part I of this paper. In addition, a feasuible PI controlled feedback closed-loop voltage regulation scheme of the stande-alone single-phase SEIG is designed on the basis of the static VAR compensate. (SVC) and discussed in experiment for the promising stand-alone power conditioner. The experimental operating performance results are illustrated and give good agreements with the simulation ones. The simulation and experimental results of the stand-alone single-phase SEIG with the simple SVC controller for its stabilized voltage regulation prove the practical effectiveness of the additional SVC control loop scheme including the PI controller with fast response characteristics and steady-sate performance improvements.

It is well known that distributed generation(DG) system using renewable energy is an alternative to solve the problems which result from the exhaustion of fossil fuel and the environmental pollution. A PWM inverter is required for a power flow control in the DG systems. This paper proposes a SRF power flow control method considering grid impedance in grid-connected single-phase inverter systems. The proposed SRF power flow control method can provide a voltage-reference for the single-phase inverter even without any grid impedance estimation so that the single-phase inverter system could operate in stand-alone mode and grid-connected mode based on the known nominal value of grid impedance. Also independent controls of active and reactive power are achieved by the proposed control method. The effectiveness and the validity of the proposed control method are demonstrated through simulations. The simulation results show that the proposed control method can control properly power flow in grid-connected single-phase inverter systems.

In this paper, we investigated the quench characteristics of high-Tc superconducting(HTSC) elements in the integrated three-phase flux-lock type superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) according to fault types such as the single-line-to-ground fault, the double-line-to-ground fault, the line-to-line fault and the triple-line-to-ground fault. The integrated three-phase flux-lock type SFCL is an upgrade version of single-phase flux-lock type SFCL. The structure of the integrated three-phase flux-lock type SFCL consisted of a three-phase flux-lock reactor wound on an iron core with the ratio of the same turn between coil 1 and coil 2 in each phase. When the SFCL is under the normal condition, the flux generated in the iron core is zero because the flux generated between two coils of each single phase is canceled out. Therefore, the SFCL's impedance is zero, and the SFCL has negligible influence on the power system. However, if a fault occurs in any single one of three phases, the flux generated in the iron core is not zero any more. The flux makes HTSC elements of all phases to quench irrespective of the fault type, which reduces the current in fault phase as well as the current of sound phase. It was obtained that the fault current limiting characteristics of the suggested SFCL were dependent on the quench characteristics of HTSC elements in all three phases.
This paper presents a modified Current Source Parallel Resonant Push-pull Inverter (CSPRPI) for single phase induction heating applications. One of the most important problems associated with current source parallel resonant inverters is achieving ZVS in transient intervals. This paper shows that a CSPRPI with the integral cycle control method has dynamic ZVS. According to this method, it is the Phase Locked Loop (PLL) circuit that tracks the switching frequency. The advantages of this technique are a higher efficiency, a smaller package size and a low EMI in comparison with similar topologies. Additionally, the proposed modification results in a low THD of the ac-line current. It has been measured as less than %2. To show the validity of the proposed method, a laboratory prototype is implemented with an operating frequency of 80 kHz and an output power of 400 W. The experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed single phase induction heating system.

Most faults are single-phase-to-ground fault in ungrounded system. The fault currents of single-phase-to-ground are much smaller than detection thresholds of measurement devices, so detecting single-phase-to-ground faults is difficult and important in ungrounded system. The protection coordination method using SGR(Selective Ground Relay) and OVGR(Overvoltage Ground Relay) is generally used in ungrounded system. But this method only detects fault line and it has the possibility of malfunction. This paper proposed to advanced protection coordination method in ungrounded system. The method just using zero-sequence current can detect fault line, fault phase, fault section at terminal device. The general protection method is used to back up protection. In the case study, the proposed method has been testified in demo system by Matlab/Simulink simulations.

Various kinds of practical machines using the single phase induction motor (SPIM) are utilized to control both speed and torque. In particular, the capacitor-run type SPIM has the characteristic that allows the motor torque to be altered by auxiliary capacitance variation. In this study, we manifest an equivalent model having a more simplified configuration, and clarify the relationship between torque and capacitance. Also, we design an experimental controller that is able to perform speed control with ease by the phase angle control of the AC input voltage. Validity of this study is confirmed through the simulation and experimental results obtained.
