  • In this paper, a robot automation methodology for chemical drum assembly in semiconductor industries are presented. Robot automation is essential to resolve safety issues in which operators are directly or indirectly exposed to chemicals or fumes in assembling dispense heads on chemical drums. However, the chemical drum assembling process involves complex and difficult tasks, such as mating male/female keycodes and fastening screws with large-diameter, which may be very difficult to be performed by a single-arm robot with a commercial rigid F/T sensor. In order to solve the problems, a method for assembling a chemical drum using dual-arm collaborative robot system, compliance F/T sensor, robot vision and gripper is presented.

  • This study proposes an intelligent control of manufacturing robot with dual arm based on neural network for smart factory implementation. In the control method of robot system, the perspectron structure of single layer based on neural network is useful for simple computation. However, the limitations of computation are emerging in areas that require complex computations. To overcome limitation of complex parameters computation a new intelligent control technology is proposed in this study. The performance is illustrated by simulation and experiments for manufacturing robot dual arm robot with eight axes.

  • The choice of design parameters for a robot arm depends on the desired workspace, load lifting capacity, application requirements, and the performance of the robot. The inverse process, which is the determination of a single robot's workspace for a given specification is also a common practice and is as important to the designers as it is to the users. Based on the geometric influence coefficients, the workspace areas on the vertical Y-Z plane are investigated and calculated. Using these areas, the effects of link parameters, link length ratios and joint rotation angles, are investigated.

  • This paper presents a method to optimize motion planning for industrial manipulators with redundancy. For optimal motion planning, first of all, particular inverse kinematic solution is needed to improve efficiency for manipulators with redundancy working in various environments. In this paper, we propose three kinds of methods for solving inverse kinematics problems; numerical and combined approach. Also, we introduce methods for optimal motion planning using potential function considering the order of priority. For efficient movement in industrial settings, this paper presents methods to plan motions by considering colliding obstacles, joint limits, and interference between whole arms. To confirm improved performance of robot applying the proposed algorithms, we use two kinds of robots with redundancy. One is a single arm robot with 7DOF and another is a dual arm robot with 15DOF which consists of left arm, right arm with each 7DOF, and a torso part with 1DOF. The proposed algorithms are verified through several numerical examples as well as by real implementation in robot controllers.

  • The manufacturing sector resorts to automation to increase production and homogeneity of products during mass production, without increasing scarce, expensive, and unreliable manpower. Automation in the form of multiple robotic arms that handle materials in all directions in different stages of the process is proven to be the best way to increase production. This paper thoroughly investigates robotic single-arm movements, that is, 360° vertical rotation, with the help of a brushless DC motor, controlled by a fuzzy proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller. This paper also deals with the design and performance of the fuzzy-based PID controller used to control vertical movement against the limited scope of conventional PID feedback controller and how the torque of the arm is affected by the fuzzy PID controller in the four quadrants to ensure constant speed and accident-free operation despite the influence of gravitational force. The design was simulated through MATLAB/SIMULINK and integrated with dSPACE DS1104-based hardware to verify the dynamic behaviors of the arm.

  • Coordinated motion control of two arms of a dual-arm robot has been studied by many researchers, because of it's potential application in assembly as well as the handling of large and heavy objects beyond the capacity of single arm. This paper derives dynamic equation of a dual-arm robot, and describes some constrains to pick up a simply shaped object at prespecified position on it. This paper concludes with describing both PD and self-tunning control algorithm for the above task.

  • In this paper, a soft robotic arm which can prevent impact injury during human-robot interaction is introduced. Two degrees of freedom joint are required to realize free movement of the robotic arm. A robotic joint concept with a single degree of freedom is presented using simple inflatable elements, and then extended to form a robotic joint with two degrees of freedom joint using similar manufacturing methods. The robotic joint with a single degree of freedom has a joint angle of $0^{\circ}$ bending angle when both chamber are inflated at equal pressures and maximum bending angles of $28.4^{\circ}$ and $27.1^{\circ}$ when a single chamber if inflated. The robotic joint with two degrees of freedom also has a bending angle of $0^{\circ}$ in both direction when all three chambers are inflated at equal pressures. When either one or two chambers were pressurized, the robotic joint performed bending towards the uninflated chambers.

  • This paper presents a tip position control of a single-link flexible arm with a payload by using closed loop control. The shifting problem of the arm from the initial position to desired position is considered by the variation of the displacement gain $G_{p}$ and velocity gain $G_{v}$. The system is composed of a flexible arm with payload, DC servomotor, and a ballscrew mechanism. The flexible arm is mounted on a mobile stage driven by a servomotor and ballscrew. As a result, the increase of the displacement and velocity gain respectively comes to the reduction of tip vibration. Theoretical results are approximately in good agreement with those obtained experimentally.y.y.

  • In this paper, we proposed an intelligent digital redesign method for a class of fuzzy-model-based controllers, effective fur stabilization of continuous-time nonlinear systems. The TS fuzzy model is used to expend the results of the digital redesign technique to nonlinear systems. The proposed method utilized the recently developed LMI technique to obtain a digitally redesigned fuzzy-model-based controller. The intelligent digital redesign problem is converted to equivalent problem, and the LMI method is used to find the digitally redesigned fuzzy-model-based controller. The stabilization conditions of TS fuzzy model are derived for stabilization in the sense of Laypunov stability. In order to demonstrates the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed controller design methodology, we applied this method to the single link flexible-joint robot arm.
