  • When solving multi-objective optimization problems, the blindness of the evolution direction of the population gradually emerges with the increase in the number of objectives, and there are also problems of convergence and diversity that are difficult to balance. The many- objective optimization problem makes some classic multi-objective optimization algorithms face challenges due to the huge objective space. The sine cosine algorithm is a new type of natural simulation optimization algorithm, which uses the sine and cosine mathematical model to solve the optimization problem. In this paper, a knee-driven many-objective sine-cosine algorithm (MaSCA-KD) is proposed. First, the Latin hypercube population initialization strategy is used to generate the initial population, in order to ensure that the population is evenly distributed in the decision space. Secondly, special points in the population, such as nadir point and knee points, are adopted to increase selection pressure and guide population evolution. In the process of environmental selection, the diversity of the population is promoted through diversity criteria. Through the above strategies, the balance of population convergence and diversity is achieved. Experimental research on the WFG series of benchmark problems shows that the MaSCA-KD algorithm has a certain degree of competitiveness compared with the existing algorithms. The algorithm has good performance and can be used as an alternative tool for many-objective optimization problems.

  • A new algorithm for estimating power frequency is presented. Unlike conventional algorithms, the proposed algorithm is based on the fact that the magnitude gains of cosine and sine filters become different when the power frequency is deviated from the nominal value. This makes the algorithm capable of providing an accurate and fast estimate of the power frequency. To demonstrate the performance of the developed algorithm, various computer simulated data records are processed. The algorithm showed a high level of robustness as well as high measurement accuracy over a wide range of frequency changes. Moreover, the algorithm was highly immune to harmonics and noise.

  • Cosine and Sine function is widely used for the arithmetic, translation, object drawing, Simulation and etc. of Computer Graphics in Natural Science and Engineering. In general, Cordic Algorithm is effective method since it has relatively small size and simple architecture on trigonometric function generation. However profitably it has those merits, the problem of operation speed is occurred. In graphic display system, the operation result of object drawing is quantized and has the condition that is satisfied with rms error less than 1. So in this paper, the proposed generator is composed of partition operation at each ${\pi}/4$ and basic Cosine, Sine function generator in the range of $0{\sim}{\pi}/4$ using the lower order of Tayler's series in an acceptable error range, that enlarge the range of $0{\sim}2{\pi}$ according to a definition of the trigonometric function for the purpose of having a high speed Cosine, Sine function generation. And, division operator using code partition for divisor three is proposed, the proposed function generator has high speed operation, but it has the problems in the other application parts with accurate results, is need to increase the speed of the multiplication.

  • Centralized hierarchical routing protocols are often used to solve the problems of uneven energy consumption and short network life in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Clustering and cluster head election have become the focuses of WSNs. In this paper, an energy balanced clustering routing algorithm optimized by sine cosine algorithm (SCA) is proposed. Firstly, optimal cluster head number per round is determined according to surviving node, and the candidate cluster head set is formed by selecting high-energy node. Secondly, a random population with a certain scale is constructed to represent a group of cluster head selection scheme, and fitness function is designed according to inter-cluster distance. Thirdly, the SCA algorithm is improved by using monotone decreasing convex function, and then a certain number of iterations are carried out to select a group of individuals with the minimum fitness function value. From simulation experiments, the process from the first death node to 80% only needs about 30 rounds. This improved algorithm balances the energy consumption among nodes and avoids premature death of some nodes. And it greatly improves the energy utilization and extends the effective life of the whole network.

  • Demand response (DR) refers to the customers' active reaction with respect to the changes of market pricing or incentive policies. DR plays an important role in improving network reliability, minimizing operational cost and increasing end users' benefits. Hence, the integration of DR in the microgrid (MG) management is gaining increasing popularity nowadays. This paper proposes a day-ahead MG scheduling framework in conjunction with DR and investigates the impact of DR in optimizing load profile and reducing overall power generation costs. A linear responsive model considering time of use (TOU) price and incentive is developed to model the active reaction of customers' consumption behaviors. Thereafter, a novel multi-swarm sine cosine algorithm (MSCA) is proposed to optimize the total power generation costs in the framework. In the proposed MSCA, several sub-swarms search for better solutions simultaneously which is beneficial for improving the population diversity. A cooperative learning scheme is developed to realize knowledge dissemination in the population and a competitive substitution strategy is proposed to prevent local optima stagnation. The simulation results obtained by the proposed MSCA are compared with other meta-heuristic algorithms to show its effectiveness in reducing overall generation costs. The outcomes with and without DR suggest that the DR program can effectively reduce the total generation costs and improve the stability of the MG network.

  • LMS (least mean square) algorithm widely used in the AVCS (active vibration control system) of helicopters calculates control input using the forward path transfer function and error signal. If the error signal is sinusoidal, it can be represented as the combination of cosine and sine functions with frequency and phase synchronized with the reference signal. The control input also has the same frequency, therefore control algorithm can be simply implemented if the cosine and the sine amplitudes of the control input are calculated and the frequency and phase of the reference signal are used. Calculation of the control input is implemented as simple matrix operation and the change of the control command is slower than the frequency of the error signal, consequently control algorithm can be operated at lower frequency. The signal processing algorithm extracting cosine and sine components of the error signals are modeled using Simulink and PIL (processor-in-the-loop) mode simulation was executed for real-time performance evaluation.

  • This paper shows that we can design a vector-coordinate rotation processor and obtain the approximate evaluations of sine and cosine based upon the use of residue number systems. The algorithm results in the considerable improvement of the computation speed when compared to CORDIC algorithm. The results from computer simulation show that the mean error of sine and cosine is 0.0025 and the mean error of coordinate rotation arithmatic is 0.65. Also, the proposed processor has the efficiency for the design and fabrication of integrated circuit, because it consists of the array of idecntially structured look-up tables.

  • The Gabor cosine and sine transform can be applied to image and video compression algorithm by representing image frequency components locally The computational complexity of forward and inverse matrix transforms used in the compression and decompression requires O($N^3$)operations. In this paper, the length of basis functions is truncated to produce a sparse basis matrix, and the computational burden of transforms reduces to deal with image compression and reconstruction in a real-time processing. As the length of basis functions is decreased, the truncation effects to the energy of basis functions are examined and the change in various Qualify measures is evaluated. Experiment results show that 11 times fewer multiplication/addition operations are achieved with less than 1% performance change.

  • In recent years, due to its high efficiency and better performance, the high efficiency video coding (HEVC) has become the most common compression standard in the field of video coding. In this paper, the framework of HEVC is deeply analyzed, and an improved HEVC video coding algorithm based on all phase biorthogonal transform (APBT) is proposed, where APBT is utilized to replace the discrete cosine transform (DCT) and discrete sine transform (DST) in original HEVC standard. Based on the relationship between APBT and DCT, the integer APBT is deduced. To further improve the coding performance, an optimal HEVC video coding algorithm based on hybrid APBT is proposed. The coding performance of the proposed HEVC coding algorithm is improved without increasing the complexity. Experimental results show that compared with HEVC standard algorithm, the improved HEVC video coding algorithm based on hybrid APBT can improve the coding performance of chrominance components by about 0.3%.

  • A new algorithm for estimating the fundamental frequency of power system signals is presented. The proposed algorithm consists of two stages: orthogonal decomposition and a complex Prony analysis. First, the input signal is decomposed into two orthogonal components using cosine and sine filters, and a variable window is adapted to enhance the performance of eliminating harmonics. Then a complex Prony analysis that is proposed in this paper is used to estimate the fundamental frequency by approximating the cosine-filtered and sine-filtered signals simultaneously. To evaluate the performance of the algorithm, amplitude modulation and harmonic tests were performed using simulated test signals. The performance of the algorithm was also assessed for dynamic conditions on a single-machine power system. The Electromagnetic Transients Program was used to generate voltage signals for a load increase and single phase-to-ground faults. The performance evaluation showed that the proposed algorithm accurately estimated the fundamental frequency of power system signals in the presence of amplitude modulation and harmonics.
