This paper presents a simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) of an indoor hallway environment using Rao-Blackwellized particle filter (RBPF) along with a line segment as a landmark. Based on the fact that fluent line features can be extracted around the ceiling and side walls of hallway using vision sensor, a horizontal line segment is extracted from an edge image using Hough transform and is also tracked continuously by an optical flow method. A successive observation of a line segment gives initial state of the line in 3D space. For data association, registered feature and observed feature are matched in image space through a degree of overlap, an orientation of line, and a distance between two lines. Experiments show that a compact environmental map can be constructed with small number of horizontal line features in real-time.
We retrieved the aerosol optical thickness $\tau$$_{a}$ over land from Landsat-7/ETM+ image data using the correlation between the visible reflectance and middle IR reflectance. This band correlation method for aerosol retrieval was originally proposed fur MODIS data analysis by Kaufman et al.(1977). The results of retrieved aerosol optical thickness $\tau$$_{a}$ from Landsat-7/ETM+ data were compared with the simultaneous sky observation data at our study site. We found a good agreement between the retrieved and observed values. We presented the distribution maps of the aerosol optical thickness over land, retrieved from Landsat-7/ETM+ image data. Then, the surface reflectance map was also presented. The aerosol optical thickness over sea was retrieved assuming no reflected contribution from sea in the near IR band. In addition, we discussed some limitations when we apply the band correlation method.
Monofluoroiron(Ⅲ) tetraphenylporphyrin, Fe(TPP)F, and difluoroiron(Ⅲ) tetraphenylporphyrin, [Fe(TPP)F2]- were generated in a various non-aqueous solvents by the reaction between Fe(TPP)Cl and tetrabutylammonium fluoride TBAF 3H2O. Formation of the these complexes was detected by the appearance of the ν(F-Fe) (ν, stretching vibration) at 506 cm-1 for Fe(TPP)F and the ν(F-Fe-F) at 448 cm-1 for [Fe(TPP)F2]-, simultaneously, with 441.6 nm excitation by Resonance Raman (RR) spectroscopy. These assignments were confirmed by observed frequency shifts due to 56Fe/54Fe and TPP/TPP-d8/TPP-N15 isotopic substitutions. Difluoroiron complex is an iron(Ⅲ) high-spin complex with the oxidation sensitive band at 1347 cm-1 for ν4 and core size/spin state sensitive band at 1541 cm-1 for ν2.

We have designed and tuilt the quasioptical system for the dual channel receiver which is used for the simultaneous observation of the cosmic radio with 100GHz band and 150GHz band. The quasioptical system has been widely used to guide the beam for the millimeter and submillimeter waves. A Gaussian distribution of field and power transverse to their axis of propagation allow the simple and elegant theory of Gaussian quasioptics. Using the theory of Gaussian beam, we introduced the analysis of image beam which is applied for a wide range of frequency. In order to guide two beams from the Cassegrain antenna simultaneously, the quasioptical system and its components for the dual channel receiver were designed by using the image beam method. We have checked the characteristics of the quasioptical components and the system by using the heam measurement system, which is made by us. The quasioptical system has been installed in the dual channel receiver on the Cassegrain antenna. The performance of this system has been finally confimed through the successful simultaneous observation with two bands of the cosmic radio.

Since Probabilistic Latent Semantic Analysis (PLSA) and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) were introduced, many revised or extended topic models have appeared. Due to the intractable likelihood of these models, training any topic model requires to use some approximation algorithm such as variational approximation, Laplace approximation, or Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC). Although these approximation algorithms perform well, training a topic model is still computationally expensive given the large amount of data it requires. In this paper, we propose a new method, called non-simultaneous sampling deactivation, for efficient approximation of parameters in a topic model. While each random variable is normally sampled or obtained by a single predefined burn-in period in the traditional approximation algorithms, our new method is based on the observation that the random variable nodes in one topic model have all different periods of convergence. During the iterative approximation process, the proposed method allows each random variable node to be terminated or deactivated when it is converged. Therefore, compared to the traditional approximation ways in which usually every node is deactivated concurrently, the proposed method achieves the inference efficiency in terms of time and memory. We do not propose a new approximation algorithm, but a new process applicable to the existing approximation algorithms. Through experiments, we show the time and memory efficiency of the method, and discuss about the tradeoff between the efficiency of the approximation process and the parameter consistency.

This paper deals with simultaneous geodetic networks adjustment by geographical coordinates(${\varphi}$, ${\lambda}$). The adjustment computation is performed by variation of coordinates, and the classical method with fixed points and free networks are also compared. Provisional values for observation equations are computed by extended Gauss-mid lattitude formula using existing official coordinates. Bessel ellipsoid and unit weight are adopted. The processing of a test-network by distances yields the average root mean square error of position 6.2 cm for classical method and 2.4cm for free networks. The standard error of unit weight in a test-network is $1.66{\times}10^{-6}$ radian (0.3"), and the analysis of error ellipses shows that free networks are more normally distributed errors.
To measure atmospheric temperature, water vapor, and aerosol simultaneously, an efficient multi-function Raman lidar using an ultraviolet-wavelength laser has been developed. A high-performance spectroscopic box that utilizes multicavity interference filters, mounted sequentially at small angles of incidence, is used to separate the lidar return signals at different wavelengths, and to extract the signals with high efficiency. The external experiments are carried out for simultaneous detection of atmospheric temperature, water vapor, and aerosol extinction coefficient in Beijing, under clear and hazy weather conditions. The vertical profiles of temperature, water vapor, and aerosol extinction coefficient are analyzed. The results show that for an integration time of 5 min and laser energy of 200 mJ, the mean deviation between measurements obtained by lidar and radiosonde is small, and the overall trend is similar. The statistical temperature error for nighttime is below 1 K up to a height of 6.2 km under clear weather conditions, and up to a height of 2.5 km under slightly hazy weather conditions, with 5 min of observation time. An effective range for simultaneous detection of temperature and water vapor of up to 10 km is achieved. The temperature-inversion layer is found in the low troposphere. Continuous observations verify the reliability of Raman lidar to achieve real-time measurement of atmospheric parameters in the troposphere.

In this paper, we evaluate the basic test results of the 32 Gbps observational equipment introduced as the back-end system for the wideband VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometry) observation of KVN (Korean VLBI Network). Radio astronomers want to make a large radio telescope that has excellent performance in order to observe the superfine structure of a celestial body, but a lot of money is needed. Therefore, in order to increase the sensitivity, the performance improvement of the receiving system and the method of observing the wide frequency bandwidth are introduced. To do this, we adopted a wideband sampling method for converting analog signals to digital with ultra-fast speeds and a wideband sampler for performing digital filtering in order to observe a wide observational frequency bandwidth. The wideband sampler (OCTAD-K) supports up to 16 Gsps-2bits sampling and supports a variety of observational bandwidth using digital filtering techniques. In particular, it is designed to support KVN's 4-frequency simultaneous observation system and VERA(VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry)'s 2-beam observation system. It can also support polKVN(Korean VLBI Network), KaVA(KVN and VERA Array), 32Gbps Direct Sampler, Digital Filter, Widebandarization observations and supports the standard VDIF(VLBI Data Interchange Format) format of observed data. In this paper, the performance of the system and the problem solving are described in detail after performing the factory inspection and field test before the system is introduced.
The conventional Kalman Filter (KF) provides a promising way for structural state estimation. However, the physical parameters of structural systems or models should be available for the estimation. Moreover, it is not applicable when the loadings applied to the structures are unknown. To circumvent the aforementioned limitations, a two-stage KF with unknown input approach is proposed for the simultaneous identification of structural parameters and unknown loadings. In stage 1, a modified observation equation is employed. The structural state vector is estimated by KF on the basis of structural parameters identified at the previous time-step. Then, the unknown input is identified by Least Squares Estimation (LSE). In stage 2, based on the concept of sensitivity matrix, the structural parameters are updated at the current time-step by using the estimated structural states obtained from stage 1. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is numerically validated via a five-story shearing model under random and earthquake excitations. Shaking table tests on a five-story structure are also employed to demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach. It is demonstrated from numerical and experimental results that the proposed approach can be used for the identification of parameters of structure and the external force applied to it with acceptable accuracy.
Purpose: This study investigates the alterations in A549 human non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells exposed to Citrus junos extract (CJE). We further examine the antiproliferative and apoptotic effects of CJE on NSCLC cells. Methods: Inhibition of proliferation was examined by applying the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5- diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) colorimetric assay on CJE-treated A549 NSCLC cells. The lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) assay was performed to measure the degree of toxicity of CJE on NSCLC cells. The effect on migratory proliferation was confirmed using the scratch wound healing assay. The antiproliferative effect of the CJE on human lung cancer cells was verified through morphological observation, fluorescence microscopy, and caspase-3 colorimetry. Results: Exposure of NSCLC cells to CJE resulted in a dose- and time-dependent decrease in cell activity and increased toxicity to the cells. In addition, microscopic observation revealed a reduced ability of the cancer cells to migrate and proliferate after exposure to the CJE, with simultaneous morphological apoptotic changes. Fluorescence staining and microscopic examination revealed that this death was a process of self-programmed cell death of NSCLC cells. Compared to unexposed NSCLC cells, the expression of caspase-3 was significantly increased in cells exposed to CJE. Conclusion: Exposure of A549 human NSCLC cells to CJE inhibits the proliferation, increases the cytotoxicity, and decreases the ability of cells to migrate and grow. Moreover, the expression of caspase-3 increases after CJE treatment, suggesting that the apoptosis of NSCLC cells is induced by a chain reaction initiated by caspase-3. These results indicate that Citrus junos is a potential therapeutic agent for human non-small-cell lung cancer.
