MPLS망의 보호 복구 기술의 비교 (A Comparison of Restoration Schemes in Multiprotocol Label Switching Networks)

  • This paper investigates the restoration schemes which are applied to the MPLS domain upon a network failure. We define the following three restoration service models by combining the various restoration schemes: "FIS-based protection service" (FIS: failure indication signal), "inversion traffic protection service" and "1+1 protection service". After a qualitative analysis of the performance in them, we have analyzed it on quantitative basis by the simulation. According to the simulation results, "1+1 protection service" guarantees the fastest and most lossless restoration service among them; however, it results in consuming considerable bandwidth and producing an amount of control traffic, which means poor network utilization. On the other hand, "FIS-based protection service" spends less bandwidth and generates less control traffic, which means better network utilization, but produces poor restoration service. "Inversion traffic protection service" provides the medium restoration service and utilization between "1+1 protection service" and "FIS-based protection service."

  • 네트워크 및 컴퓨팅 기술의 발달로 실생활에서 일어나는 다양한 현상을 수치적으로 계산하고 분석할 수 있는 웹 시뮬레이션 서비스가 활발히 사용되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 웹 기반 열유체 시뮬레이션을 제공하는 e-AIRS(e-Science Aerospace Integrated Research System) 서비스의 개선 및 활용에 대해 기술한다. 2008년부터 서비스된 e-AIRS는 안정성에 일부 문제가 있어 사용자가 종종 원활한 시뮬레이션을 수행하기 어려움이 있었다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위하여 화면 갱신 방법 개선, 서비스 분산처리, 개인별 시뮬레이션 작업량 할당, 데이터 로딩 시간 감소, 등의 개선 작업을 수행하였다. 개선 후 사용자가 110명에서 606명으로 증가했음에도 안정성에 대한 요구사항은 감소하여 효과적으로 개선이 이루어졌음을 알 수 있다. 매 학기마다 분석되는 시뮬레이션 서비스 활용 내역 및 사용자 요구사항은 보다 나은 서비스를 제공하기 위해 사용될 것이다.

  • HPI (High-speed Portable Internet) system which provides high speed internet services is going to be commercialized soon. Since HPI provides simultaneously four different service types such as UGS (Unsolicited Grant Service), rtPS (real time Polling Service), nrtPS(non-real time Polling Service), and BE (Best Effort) under different QoS (Quality of Service) requirements and limited wireless channel resources, efficient packet scheduling mechanisms are necessary to increase the utilization of channels as well as to satisfy the various QoS requirements. This study regards the traffic data to be served as time series and proposes a new packet scheduling algorithm based on the nonparametric statistical test. The performance of the newly proposed algorithm is evaluated through the simulation analysis using a simulator that can evaluate the performance of packet scheduling mechanisms under various values of system parameters and measures such as packet delay time, data transmission rate, number of loss packets, and channel utilization.

Two-Stage Resource Allocation to Improve Utilization of Synchronous OFDM-PON Supporting Service Differentiation

  • We propose a two-stage resource allocation algorithm for the high link utilization of an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing passive optical network (OFDM-PON). An OFDM-PON is assumed to use a synchronous frame structure in supporting service differentiation. In distributing resources, the proposed algorithm first allocates a time window for each optical network unit (ONU), and then it arranges a subchannel, which is a group of subcarriers. This algorithm needs to satisfy two constraints. First, computations for the resource allocation should be done using a frame unit. Second, an ONU has to use a single subchannel to send upstream data for multiple services within a frame duration. We show through a computer simulation that the proposed algorithm improves the link utilization.

A Dynamical Hybrid CAC Scheme and Its Performance Analysis for Mobile Cellular Network with Multi-Service

  • Call admission control (CAC) plays an important role in mobile cellular network to guarantee the quality of service (QoS). In this paper, a dynamic hybrid CAC scheme with integrated cutoff priority and handoff queue for mobile cellular network is proposed and some performance metrics are derived. The unique characteristic of the proposed CAC scheme is that it can support any number of service types and that the cutoff thresholds for handoff calls are dynamically adjusted according to the number of service types and service priority index. Moreover, timeouts of handoff calls in queues are also considered in our scheme. By modeling the proposed CAC scheme with a one-dimensional Markov chain (1DMC), some performance metrics are derived, which include new call blocking probability ($P_{nb}$), forced termination probability (PF), average queue length, average waiting time in queue, offered traffic utilization, wireless channel utilization and system performance which is defined as the ratio of channel utilization to Grade of Service (GoS) cost function. In order to validate the correctness of the derived analytical performance metrics, simulation is performed. It is shown that simulation results match closely with the derived analytic results in terms of $P_{nb}$ and PF. And then, to show the advantage of 1DMC modeling for the performance analysis of our proposed CAC scheme, the computing complexity of multi-dimensional Markov chain (MDMC) modeling in performance analysis is analyzed in detail. It is indicated that state-space cardinality, which reflects the computing complexity of MDMC, increases exponentially with the number of service types and total channels in a cell. However, the state-space cardinality of our 1DMC model for performance analysis is unrelated to the number of service types and is determined by total number of channels and queue capacity of the highest priority service in a cell. At last, the performance comparison between our CAC scheme and Mahmoud ASH's scheme is carried out. The results show that our CAC scheme performs well to some extend.

  • In this paper, I develop a simple dynamic resource allocation algorithm that reduces the call blocking rate by improving the resource utilization of the WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) systems under multimedia service environment. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm significantly reduces the blocking rate of high speed multimedia calls. The algorithm developed in this paper is currently working in the commercial WCDMA IMT-2000 system.

  • 본 논문은 IETF에서 DiffServ의 Assured Service를 위하여 제안된 AF PHB의 버퍼 관리 방식들 중 RIO 및 RIO-DC 방식의 성능을 비교 평가하였다. 이를 위하여 Assured Service의 서브 클래스별로 할당하는 대역폭의 비율을 차별화하여 서브 클래스별로 보장하는 최대 지연시간을 상대적으로 차등화 하였다. 또한, 네트워크 토폴로지와 Assured Service의 서브 클래스별로 할당되는 대역폭의 비율에 따라 결정되는 버퍼 크기를 기준으로 RIO 및 RIO-DC 방식의 변수 값을 설정하였다. 이러한 환경에서, In-profile 트래픽에 대한 수율, 링크 이용률 및 플로간 공평성을 성능의 척도로 하여 제안된 두 방식의 성능을 비교하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 제안하는 변수 설정 방안을 적용한 RIO 및 RIO-DC 방식의 Assured Service에 대한 In-profile 트래픽의 수율과 링크 이용률 성능은 동등하나, RIO-DC 방식은 RIO 방식 보다 향상된 플로간 공평성을 보장할 수 있음을 보인다.

  • The domestic ports become less competitive for the out of dated equipments and inefficient information system. Specially, Inchon Port, which is the second largest port of Korea, has the point at issue such as the excessive logistics cost because of the limit of handling capacity and the chronic demurrage. In this paper to develope the simulation programs the basic input parameters such as arrival intervals, cargo tons, service rates are analyzed and the probability density functions for there variable are estimated. Also to perform the conception of continuous berth utilization, the berth and cargo classification is reconstructed. And the more actual simulation is realized by using more detailed depth representation of water The simulation model is executed based on the knowledge base and database, and is constructed using Visual Basic and Access database. Simulation results reveal that this study suitably reflect the real berth operation and waiting time of ships is shortened.

상수의 데드라인 계산 비용으로 높은 네트웍 유용도를 얻는 서비스 곡선 할당 방식 (Service Curve Allocation Schemes for High Network Utilization with a Constant Deadline Computation Cost)

  • 통합 서비스망은 실시간 응용들에게 고품질의 서비스를 제공하기 위해서 종단간 지연의 한계를 보장해야 한다. 이러한 보장 서비스는 라우터의 출력 포트에 설치되는 실시간 스케줄러에 의해서 제공된다. 그러나 현재까지 연구된 스케줄링 알고리즘들은 네트워크 유용도 혹은 확장성(scalability)에 문제점을 갖고 있다. 여기서 네트워크 유용도는 얼마나 많은 실시간 세션들을 승인할 수 있는 지를 의미한다. 본 논문은 서비스 곡선 알고리즘에서 높은 네트러크 유용도와 확장성 양쪽을 모두 성취할 수 있는 서비스 곡선 할당 방식을 제안한다. 서비스 곡선 알고리즘의 가장 큰 특징은 서비스 곡선 할당 방식에 따라서 네트워크 유용도와 확장성 모두가 결정된다는 점이다. 일상적인 믿음과 반대로, 데드라인을 계산할 때 전체 서비스 곡선이 아닌 일부만이 사용됨을 증명한다. 이 사실로부터 우리는 데드라인을 계산하는 비용이 상수 시간인 서비스 곡선 할당 방식을 제안한다. 또한, 수치결과를 통해서 제안하는 방식이 mutirate 알고리즘을 포함한 GPS 알고리즘들보다 더 높은 네트워크 유용도를 성취함을 보인다. 우리가 아는 한, 서비스 곡선 알고리즘이 제안하는 서비스 곡선 할당 방식을 채용하면 동일한 확장성을 갖는 스케줄링 알고리즘들 중에 가장 놀은 네트워크 유용도를 성취한다.

선전과 이탈이 있는 복수 서비스 대기행렬모형에 대한 시뮬레이션 분석 (Simulation Analysis for Multiple-Server Queueing Model with Advertising and Balking)

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyse the manager's policy to maximize the profit in a multiple-server queueing facility with a limited queue capacity. We assume that the level of advertizing effects on the arrival rate of customers to the facility. The model without ‘word of mouth effect’ is assumed that the arrival rate is independent on the qualify of service level. We estimate the service quality by the balking rate of customers from system. We extend this to the model with ‘word of mouth effect’. To achieve the maximum profit, the most important factor is the considerably high utilization of facility for both models. Given service rate, we should maintain an effective arrival rate to some extent. To this end, among the available options, an increase of advertizing effort is more desirable than reducing the fee if the service value of customers remains unchanged. We also investigate whether the variability of service time has a significant impact on determining the optimal policy. The cost of service variability is not so expensive as that in a single server model due to the reduced variability of service times in a multiple-server model.
