Maintenance of aging structures has attracted societal attention. Maintenance of the aging structure can be efficiently performed with a digital twin. In order to maintain the structure based on the digital twin, it is required to accurately detect the damage of the structure. Meanwhile, deep learning-based damage detection approaches have shown good performance for detecting damage of structures. However, in order to develop such deep learning-based damage detection approaches, it is necessary to use a large number of data before and after damage, but there is a problem that the amount of data before and after the damage is unbalanced in reality. In order to solve this problem, this study proposed a method based on Generative adversarial network, one of Generative Model, for generating acceleration data usually used for damage detection approaches. As results, it is confirmed that the acceleration data generated by the GAN has a very similar pattern to the acceleration generated by the simulation with structural analysis software. These results show that not only the pattern of the macroscopic data but also the frequency domain of the acceleration data can be reproduced. Therefore, these findings show that the GAN model can analyze complex acceleration data on its own, and it is thought that this data can help training of the deep learning-based damage detection approaches.

Output-only modal parameter identification is based on the assumption that external forces on a linear structure are white noise. However, harmonic excitations are also often present in real structural vibrations. In particular, it has been realized that the use of forced acceleration responses without knowledge of external forces can pose a problem in the modal parameter identification, because an external force is imparted to its impulse acceleration response function. This paper provides a three-stage identification procedure as a solution to the problem of harmonic and white noise excitations in the acceleration responses of a linear dynamic system. This procedure combines the uses of the mode indicator function, the complex mode indication function, the enhanced frequency response function, an iterative rational fraction polynomial method and mode shape inspection for the correlation-related functions of the force-embedded acceleration responses. The procedure is verified via numerical simulation of a five-floor shear building and a two-dimensional frame and also applied to ambient vibration data of a large-span roof structure. Results show that the modal parameters of these dynamic systems can be satisfactorily identified under the requirement of wide separation between vibration modes and harmonic excitations.
A new interacting multiple model (IMM) method using intelligent input estimation (IIE) is proposed to track a maneuvering target. In the proposed method, the acceleration level for each sub-model is determined by IIE-the estimation of the unknown acceleration input by a fuzzy system using the relation between maneuvering filter residual and non-maneuvering one. The genetic algorithm (GA) is utilized to optimize a fuzzy system for a sub-model within a fixed range of acceleration input. Then, multiple models are composed of these fuzzy systems, which are optimized for different ranges of acceleration input. In computer simulation for an incoming ballistic missile, the tracking performance of the proposed method is compared with those of the input estimation (IE) technique and the adaptive interacting multiple model (AIMM) method.
In this paper, we propose a new collision detection algorithm for human-robot collaboration. We use an IMU sensor located at the tip of the manipulator and the kinematic behavior of the manipulator to detect the unexpected collision between the robotic manipulator and environment. Unlike other method, the developed algorithm uses only the kinematic relationship between the manipulator joint and the end effector. Therefore, the collision estimation signal is not affected by the error of the dynamics model. The proposed collision detection algorithm detects the collision by comparing the estimated acceleration of the end effector derived from the position, velocity and acceleration trajectories of the robot joints with the actual acceleration measured by the sensor. In simulation, we compare the performance of our method with the conventional Residual Observer (ROB). Our method is less sensitive to the load variation because of the independency on the dynamic modeling of the manipulator.
A scheme of observer-based MFAC(Model Following Acceleration Control) system is proposed for the robustness control of DC servo position control systems. The proposed system is composed of LMFC, variable structure feedback controller, and reduced-order state observer. As the servo motor is controlled by the acceleration command, the total servo system becomes the acceleration control system. Simulation results show that the proposed system have robust properties against parameter variations and external disturbances.

This paper describes a new identification method for friction in motion control systems, in which the friction model is not necessarily linear in parameters. The proposed method works well with any measurement data of velocity and input control force, as long as the initial and final velocities are identical. Most importantly, the proposed method does not require the information of acceleration for its implementation, in contrast with the previously known methods. This is due to the orthogonality property between acceleration and a function of velocity. In particular, if the parametric model is linear in parameters, its friction parameters can be identified in closed form without resorting to numerical search methods. To illuminate further the generality and practicality of the proposed friction identification method, we show good performance of the proposed method through some simulation results.
Rubber components are widely used in many application such as vibration isolators, damping, ride quality. Rubber spring is used in primary suspension system for railway vehicle. Characteristics and useful life prediction of rubber spring was very important in design procedure to assure the safety and reliability. Non-linear properties of rubber material which are described as strain energy function are important parameter to design and evaluate of rubber spring. These are determined by physical tests which are uniaxial tension, equi-biaxial tension and pure shear test. The computer simulation was executed to predict and evaluate the load capacity and stiffness for rubber spring. In order to investigate the useful life, the acceleration test were carried out. Acceleration test results changes as the threshold are used for assessment of the useful life and time to threshold value were plotted against reciprocal of absolute temperature to give the Arrhenius plot. By using the acceleration test, several useful life prediction for rubber spring were proposed.
The intermittent characteristics of fluid particle accelerations near the wall are investigated with the higher-order statistics and the probability density functions (PDF) by using a direct numerical simulation of turbulent channel flow. Also, the behaviors of acceleration associated with the coherent structures are discussed. The flatness factor of wall-normal acceleration is extremely high near the wall and it exceeds the previously reported value obtained in isotropic turbulence. The presence of the wall seems to make the accelerations more intermittent and the associated mechanism is explained with the PDFs. The skewness factor of wall-normal acceleration indicates that accelerations are associated with the streamwise vortices.
This paper presents a system identification (SI) scheme in time domain using measured acceleration data. The error function is defined as the time integral of the least squared errors between the measured acceleration and the calculated acceleration by a mathematical model. Damping parameters as well as stiffness properties of a structure are considered as system parameters. The structural damping is modeled by the Rayleigh damping. A new regularization function defined by the L1-norm of the first derivative of system parameters with respect to time is proposed to alleviate the ill-posed characteristics of inverse problems and to accommodate discontinuities of system parameters in time. The time window concept is proposed to trace variation of system parameters in time. Numerical simulation study is performed through a two-span continuous truss subject to ground motion.
